I don't understand why you think that the days are gone that you can take a picture of the castle through the archway? Unless you go on a totally dead day or something, then it's inevitable that there are going to be people in your picture. Given that, then what difference does it make if the background people are photopass photographers, or just general people? You've still got your picture of the castle, or whatever else it is that you were trying to take a picture of.

I also wish that they would put photopass people at the resort restaraunts, because I would love to have had some professional pictures at Artist Point, for example.

Im not trying to get pictures of the castle with no one in them, but over the last week and a half not once during daylight hours was there not a line of at least 5 families or so waiting behind the photopass photographer for a pic in the archway. When we waited the couple up there was being posed by the photographer, first with the hands together for tink, then looking at each other, then to or three others. Another spot was at the Walt and Mickey statue in the hub, there were always 2 photographers there day and night.
As far as the resturaunts, I wouldnt mind at character meals but at California Grill, The Wave, and any other fine dining it would be annoying to me for one to have someone asking me to pose for a pic and two , trying to enjoy a nice dinner with the constand flashing of a camera.
Like I have said I like the photopass but I like to be able to get a quick spontanous shot some too.

(By the way, you can prepay for a PP CD before your trip. $99 and it's all the pics you want. 30 or 3000. When you get home, add borders, B&W some, cut and crop, all for $99. Just a thought.)

How do you go about prepaying for the cd? It was soooooo worth it last year. Do you still get the 2 free 8x10's if you pre purchase the cd?[/quote]

I found the info on the Mousesavers.com site. I found it AFTER our last trip but I will be doing it next time around, in January. Also, I understand that if you don't like the pics on PP Disney will refund your money. Then you can just add your PP numbers from the card(s) and purchase individual pics if you like. I know nothing about free pics.

The primary customer of Photopass is the Disney guest who has not brought a camera to the park. Eventually, all on-ride photos will also be available on Photopass. The purpose of Photopass is to sell as many pictures as possible. This means having the 'perfect' shot, or one that would be memorable, or one that the guest with the camera did not get. As a Character Attendant (please don't call me a 'handler'. Do you really think I could handle one of these characters? ;) ), my responsibility is to the guest waiting for their encounter with the character. As I interact with guests, I remind them that I would be happy to take pictures of their whole family with their camera. Often guests are surprised to find, along with the posed photo with the character, photos of their child's first hug, watching the character sign their autograph book, etc. Some PP photographers do get a little aggressive to be in the right angle for that 'perfect' picture. Not only to sell another photo, but to serve the need of the guest.

We like Photopass. Though I do think it's a bit over priced. But we still try to get as many pictures as possible. Have to see about pre paying for the cd. That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I think the issues some are pointing out are more about the individual photographers themselves, and less about the PP service. If you've got 10 different photographers, you're going to have 10 different ways of doing things, and 10 different pictures in the end. And just like you can have a bad server in a restaurant, you may get a less than stellar PP photographer taking your pictures.

I think the service itself is fantastic. It's great for those who don't bring cameras along, or to supplement your own pictures with ones you can instantly send to friends and family. It will be great when the ride photos are on there as well (unless they are included already). From my personal experience, I've never had a problem getting a shot I wanted, or if I did, it was not because of the PP photographers. I also have had the PP photographer offer to take our picture with their camera and my camera. I too wish they were in more out of the way places, though. It's nice to get some pictures taken and not have to rush because of some huge line.

I love the Photopass and our experiences have been great. We take our own photos but also really try to maximize our Photopass pictures as well. We ended up with around 200 or so last trip, which makes it well worth the price of the CD not to mention that we love the Photomovie. They always let us snap our pictures first and they are able to capture the moments that you may miss being caught up in the moment. I don't care how fast you are if you are trying to watch the faces of your family and snap too, you will miss some things. Not to mention that it lets the whole family get in the shot.

we have always liked the photo pass pictures and always buy the cd. but when we were there in april, they were hard to find so we only had a few pictures on the cd. i would appreciate more candid shots also, i never seem to be able to get ones of my own because i am so busy watching our kids expressions. i always have very posed ones. but having them around, (if you can find them) is a definate plus!!

I was shocked when we were at a character meet and greet and the FP person was like,"Here I'll take a picture with the whole family if you want" then took my camera and used it to take some more photos. It even happened multiple times. I couldn't believe they would do that. But I guess it is that kind of stuff that sets Disney apart. Even though they may discontinue doing that soon.

WE loved the photo pass!
The photographers, I have to say, were the most pleasant Disney employees that we ran into. No matter which park we were in, the photographers were super. The only long lines we ran into were the character lines and usually we would just skip them for that reason.
