I know Body Wars is gone. However I did get a chance to ride on it a few times before WOL was closed. BUT, when I did ride it back in the 90's I remembered being on that ride before. Before that I hadn't been to WDW since the late 70's. Was Body Wars located somewhere else before it was in WoL or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I think your memories have been running amuck. :D

Body wars opened in the late 80's or early 90's if my memory is correct.

Edit: Opened in Oct of 1989.

Could you be thinking of Adventure Through Inner Space in Disneyland? While it was not a simulator like Body Wars the stories were kind of similar.

I was thinking either this or the OP may have possibly even been thinking about a movie. There was a movie called "Innerspace" starring Martin Short which came out a few years before this attraction. The film that plays in Body Wars is strikingly similar in look and style. Another possibility is the movie "Fantastic Voyage" which a lot of people have said this attraction was loosely and unofficially based on. If the OP has seen either of these movies then I could see how going on Body Wars might have triggered a deja vu moment.

Yep, in fact, I would bet that when Body Wars first opened and if these message boards were around, many people would be calling it "Innerspace:The Ride!"

I can recall specific times after the ride opened where people wouldn't actually call it Body Wars, but they'd call it "the innerspace ride" and the "fantastic voyage ride". So yes, I totally agree with you!

You all might be right on the Fantastic Voyage movie. I did see it and thought at the time I was on the ride that it may be based on that movie.
