Is it worth at $700 savings to stay at Pop Century?

I am not trying to justify anything, just saying we ALL pick and choose things in life that we go against the " Rules " or the norm, there is no way you can say that you do not, I do not see harm in visiting another pool, I do not see how it ruins or impacts anyone else swimming that day

Okay, you make a fair point about certain rules that we all pick and choose to bend a bit. I do, in fact, break the speed limit, for example.

But as to your other point regarding the harm of visiting another pool, I do want to point out that the reason that the rule is in place is because when too many people go "pool hopping," then the pools at the resorts with the "better" pools tend to become overly crowded, which reduces the enjoyment of them for the people actually staying at that resort. In the example we're discussing, for example, I think most would agree the Big Blue Pool at Art of Animation is probably the best value pool. If a significant number of people from Pop Century decided to go take advantage of it, that would negatively impact the AoA guests.

Over 7 days, I'd take Pop. The refurbed rooms at Pop are quite nice and I don't feel like POFQ is that drastic of an improvement. Add in the bridge to AoA and gondolas appearing and you're not missing out food wise. For $700 you could take your family to a water park and still have $450... Subbing those for a pool day blows the diff in Pop's pool vs POFQ's pool out of the water.

I say this as someone who likes both resorts and has stayed at both of them within the last 4 years (Pop more recently). Pop is the best steal on property (outside of swan)

No, you get what you pay for and for me the resort is a huge part of the vacation and POFQ is a gorgeous smart resort. If you want to spend time there for me an extra $1000 would be worth it. The experience far outweighs the cost at a value Disney motel. I never found POGQ overun with kids either, the values are a nightmare.
I never understood the description of the values as "motels." Yes, they have exterior entry doors (except for AoA suites). But so do the moderates.

Quality wise, though, do you seriously think Pop Century and Motel 6 are on the same level? I don't think it's even close.

Of course, it's all opinion. But I really don't get the comparison.

In my experience, POP was very loud and I barely got any sleep the whole week. I have not stayed at POFQ though to compare, but I will not be staying back at POP.

We are currently booked at POFQ. My kids are 8 and 5. Would you take the $700 savings and stay at POP or spend the money to stay at POFQ? We don't do the parks every day. We usually take 2 days to go to DS and chill by the pool.
NO. Deluxe to Moderate, sure. But the pools are SO much busier, the rooms are louder and overall less relaxing imo from moderate to value.

This may be more hassle than it's worth depending on how you feel about split stays, but...

...OP, you might consider staying at POP for your first x number of nights, and then switching to Port Orleans for your last couple of nights, for the pool/Disney Springs parts of your itinerary. You'd still save quite a bit, and would get the best of both worlds. (Caveat: This is assuming you see switching hotels mid-trip as a charming adventure rather than as a giant hassle. My family loves split stays and has found them very convenient, but we do have to pack lightly, and with some slight modifications, to make the transition more seamless.)

My family legit does not care about the resort, as long as we're onsite. That said, all we do is sleep in the room. We run all the time, & don't use the pool. My boys (now 24 & 27) HATE the mods - they are too spread out, too many bus stops, too far to food. We only stay value preferred or deluxe for that reason. We're strange, I know, but it shows that what is important to each family is vastly different. We've been enough that we know what we like, and we don't go to DW to relax (we relax at home, lol). We want to be entertained! But that can be draining. Soooo, we would totally save the $700 to buy more food, or use it for another after hours event, or more t-shirts (DS27 is special needs & collects Disney t-shirts, probably has enough to wear a different shirt every day for a year). Figuring out what is important to you will probably make the decision easier - and once you make it get excited and don't look back!!

Honestly you have heard both sides of the story stay at the POP save the money, Go to POFQ and have a better resort. Then throw in how much time will you spend at the resort.
Honestly what it all comes down to, is what do you really prefer. I have stayed at the POP, All Star Movies and All Star Sports, Caribbean Beach, PORS, Corranado , WL. So for the the wife and I prefer to stay at PORS first and Coronado second, When we splurge it's the Wilderness Lodge. You see for us it's coming back to a resort that just makes us relax and feel at peace. We do spend times at the resort so the resort we choose has to have the relaxation feel with things to do. At POFQ you can use the pool, Catch boats to Down Town Disney (Sorry but prefer this name) and go over to PORS rent bikes, boats, another food court and a good dining facility, Go on a fishing trip or go cane pole fishing. So it all honestly is up to you and what you would like and experience that you want for you and your family. It's your style be it the POP or POFQ and so on. Look at your all paid trip expense and for the most part when you stay between 6 and 10 days days per visit the possible amount in savings is not really all the much of a difference once you base on the experience that you might be looking for. POP is way to busy for the wife and I and love the Moderates better. Plus throw in the extra things to do. Either way you are going to have a great time and hope whatever choice you make that you have nothing but happiness and smiles.

With all due respect, we stay at the values because it's what we can afford and what we prefer. NEWS FLASH! I put my jeans on the same way as you...one leg at a time...I'll let you in on a little secret...I've seen PLENTY of WT guests at the deluxe resorts...don't be so quick to judge. I consider my family as "better clientele"

You are absolutely right. I shouldn't generalize that much. My apologies. It may be that the microcosm that is Disney hotels does not necessarily follow hotels in general.

Then again, between Pop Warner, cheerleaders, and South American tour groups (along with ALL the attendant stories that go with them on this site and others), I can't be THAT far off the mark - at least at certain times of the year.

No worries...I guess the time of the year that we go, we have NEVER (believe it or not) run into one of these groups...I guess I should consider myself lucky.

It's really up to you if saving the $700 would make a difference in your life. Would the extra $700 spent be worth it to you for what you will be getting(slightly bigger room, water slide, hot tub, theme, etc). Will this be your only trip for a while and the upgraded experience will be more memorable? Will you use the $700 for other things to make the family happy and a more memorable trip? What is your tolerance for the "inconveniences" many others have mentioned already?

Our family has done both Value and Moderate. We went up to Moderate because our kids were into their teens and the larger size room helped us. We also started adding a Resort Day to our trips(usually ends up only being a half day and then we still went to the parks later). Which helped justify the additional $ spent. It also wasn't $700 more, so that would have had me thinking hard about the move to Moderate.
