Tom Sawyer Island has always been a place people have speculated yopu could hide or stay on............especially the tunnels, but they check those pretty good.

this may seem kinds silly, but my husband and his best friend have discussed this on many an occasion and they seem to believe that it would be possible to after it gets dark before the park closes obviously go to swiss family tree house get way up there and climb over a railing and hide under or behind one of the big props without being noticed and after the park is cleared for many hours one would have a good view of some of the areas of the park from above.:)

Honestly that probably would work. But still...I don't get why anyone would take such a large risk. I just don't see the point.:veryconfu

It's not really inside a park but I bet you could take the Walk Around the World past the MK monorail station and disappear to the woods toward the MK. Then stay in the woods or make your way to the edge and see some backstage areas, there is also a paved walkway that passes through these woods. When morning arrives just go back to the walkway.

I think many of us have thought about this at one time or another, why would you want to do it? Well for the same reason someone climbs a mountian, because its there, or for the challange of doing it. Maybe you want a weekend at the world and only have enough money to buy a one day ticket and some food, enter the park the first day and hide for a couple of nights, come out and enjoy the days at the park smelling like a horse and no fast pass. Or its just fun to think about it. Would a hard core Disney fan do it and risk getting arrested and life time ban from Disney properties? I dont think so. But you can bet people have tried (see Disneyland deaths for a couple kids that hid on Tom Sawyer Island at DL, got scared and tried to swim accross Rivers of America and one drowned) I'm sure there are others who have tried and you an bet Disney is quite aware of this and checks the parks very well at closing. I know there are many people in the parks after hours so its not like you would be able to walk around or anything, you would have to find a good place and stay there all night, in the dark with the rats.

Ok, here's another question . . . do they acutally do the lifetime ban and if so for what actions? Just wondering if this is an empty threat . . .
Thanks!

From http://snopes.com/disney/parks/deaths.htm

[FONT=Trebuchet MS,Bookman Old Style,Arial]June 1973: Bogden Delaurot, an 18-year-old Brooklyn resident, drowned trying to swim across the Rivers of America. Delaurot and his 10-year-old brother managed to stay on Tom Sawyer Island past its dusk closing time by climbing the fence separating the island from the burning settlers' cabin. When they decided to leave the island a few hours later, they chose to swim across the river rather than call attention to their rule-breaking by appealing to cast members for help. Because the younger brother did not know how to swim, Delaurot tried to carry him on his back as he swam to shore. Bogden Delaurot went down about halfway across the river. The younger boy remained afloat by dogpaddling until a ride operator hauled him aboard a boat, but Bogden was nowhere to be found. His body was not located by searchers until the next morning.

It's happened.

It's been tried before

Two kids hid on Tom Sawyer Island (I believe it was California though) and after the park closed they attempted to swim across The Rivers of America, with one drowning and the other surviving. This was quite a few years back before cctv. I'm sure WDW has provisions to prevent this.

I would love to be at the parks when nobody's there, however I wouldn't do this for several reasons,I don't want to be hiding for 9 hours or more to avoid being caught, that's not fun for me,I want to be walking around.I don't wan't to be arrested OR WORSE be hit with a Disney lifetime ban.I mean I understand some people would see it as an accomplishment when 9:15 am comes and they can blend in with the regular crowds.I think it would be easier to get hired for janitorial services for a week just to check out how it's like being there after hours!!

As a CM, I know of a lot of places you could potentially hide and possibly not get caught but as a regular CM ....definitely not.

One time I had to work really late and come back to train at a ridiculously early hour so I actually slept in Tower's break room. (I'm not a Bellhop so please don't PM me asking if you know me). I went to casting and showered, and voila, I was back. Pretty cool to say I slept at the Hollywood Tower Hotel....

I've seen plenty of people get kicked off property for doing stupid things, and have wondered this myself. My guess is something very, very serious that would most likely result in you getting arrested anyways.

I don't know I haven't read it but its suppose to be a really good book atleast highly recomended for school libraries. *shrug*

I read a book where a bunch of people are taken hostage on Tom Sawyer Island in Disneyland in the fort. I forgot the author and can't find it anywhere. I can't find it because I lost it and I can't find it anywhere to purchase it again. It was called Disneyland Hostage (original huh?) It was really neat though. I forgot the story but there are reasons why this militant group does it.
