is it possible to have a visitor stay over a night or two in our room?

here is the question

we are staying at pop century for 12 days 11 night, its just the 2 of us and the room has two large beds

my neice and her son who live in florida and were thinking of visiting us at the hotel and staying over a night or two and coming with us to the parks to spend time with the kid

i called to see if i could add them to the reservations and they said only if they add the entire 12 day package for each of them, could not add them to the reservation for two or three days

can they just stay in the room with us for a night or two without being added? they would be taking a cab to our hotel and back home again in a day or two so there is no car to leave in parking lot or anything

would that be allowed? the person on the disney reservation line did not have an answer

I really do not think it will be a problem. We have my sisters come stay with us sometimes for a night or two and never had any issues. You would just need to get their tickets at the gate of one of the parks instead of them having a room key/ticket option. Hope you have a great trip

the answer is technically no, but I would say you would just need to do as you wish. The reason the answer is no, is because those persons do not pay for the pool, extra use of hotel amenities, etc.

If you want to do it, I would just keep it under your hat, and be mindful of others about.

We have done before with my future brother in law and never had any issues. I look at it this way it is not my fault Disney can't make this a feature of their system to add people to stays.

We were told at the time and again last year when my mom was going to stay with us for a night that they would have to make two separate bookings and we would probably end up moving rooms. :hammer:

The main issue, other than paying to use the resort ammenities, is resort id's. Without resort id's they will not be able to attend EMH. Other than that, I can't think of any other challenges you might encounter. Plus if Disney is not willing to put them on the reservation, it really isn't your fault. You made an attempt to do it by the books.

A few years ago my sister was going to come stay with us for a night. When we checked in I asked about it and they told me that we would just have to pay an extra fee for her to stay the night. I don't remember the amount but it wasn't anything to much. She didn't end up staying. My parents came too so they stayed offsite, so I didn't get a chance to test their answer to me.

As long as it doesn't put you over the room limit, I'd just do it without informing them. As long as you don't mind them not being able to experience EMH's, it's no big deal.

During one of my trips to WDW with my exboyfriend, his mother (who lives in Deltona) stayed 2 nights with us in the hotel room. No one at the hotel knew non the wiser. She didn't used the pool or the laundry room. My ex and I thought it would be easier to have her stay the night b/c she was going to go to the parks with us & we didn't want her to have to drive the X amount of time it takes to get to the resort area from Deltona.

Exactly! This is one of those things where technically the "rule" is that if your reservation says two people then it is only supposed to be two people. But the only situation in which that would usually be a problem is if your and your guests are being unruly and/or you've got a bunch of people in your room when your reservation only says two.

Housekeeping could call your out on it if you have a ton of bags in your room since they know two people are supposed to be in the room.

The answer (which I've read about a number of times on various forums, but have no first-hand experience on) is that you *can* add people to your room for only part of your stay, but it's something that has to be done *after* you check into the hotel.

The people at Central Reservations are only going to tell you about things that they can do for you, and that's just to add people to the entire reservation. But once you check in and the reservation is "exploded" (at least I think that's the term they use), the front desk then has access to the room reservation separately from the rest of your package. (Similar to how you can upgrade park tickets from a package individually after you check in)

So as long as the added people don't push the room beyond the maximum occupancy (which it sounds like it won't in the OP's case) you can add them, just paying whatever extra per-night fees they would incur ($10 per night per adult 18 or older). That will make them "official" guests of the hotel, they'll get their own room keys which allows them to access the room, use the pools, use EMH at the parks, etc.
I believe you can also add park tickets to those room keys, too. (And they don't have to be the same as the original reservation, you can just buy whatever tickets you want at the Lobby Concierge desk)

Cool...good to know Rob! I had the same question posted last week with pretty much the same scenario. Trying to talk my niece down south into coming and staying with us for a few days in March when we head to WDW for 10 days at the Pop Century. :sohappy:

Best thing to do is talk to the Manager on duty after you check in. Most likely they will just add them for the night or two and charge you the fee.

On our trip in a couple weeks, my wife got out of work for 2 of the nights there. She is not on the reservation, but will get in the room. I know Disney does not check room occupancy too often. We were in college and we had way over capacity for a room (I know it is against all policy, but college kids have no money).

If you need extra room keys to show for EMH, you could accidentally "lose" yours . . . they won't be active, but I don't think they scan them any longer, just do a visual inspection . . .

If you booked a Magic Your Way package, you may not add a guest to the room for a night or two. All Guests must share the same arrival and departure dates.

If you need extra cash, then why not photocopy a twenty...what's the difference?

Theft is theft, no matter how you try to justify it.

My daughter and family were at Pop in early August. A friend of my grandson joined them for the last 2 days of their stay. When my daughter called before arrival they said there may be a charge of $12.00 but that they hardly ever enforced it. When friend arrived daughter told front desk that he was 18 and they registered him as a child with no charge. He was also offered a partial meal plan which they didn't take as they weren't really using all of the meals they had. He was also able to use the Magical Express to return to the airport at no charge.

Pretty sure you only need 1 key to access EMH for your family (at least, that's how I remember it from DAK emh)

I know I didn't get a key, so how could they make it 1 key per resident?
