Is Hollywood and Vine really bad?

True enough..Im not a fan of any Dinner/Lunch buffets as a rule..they are expensive for the lack of quality you get..However there are other things to consider:

Biergarten: I have eaten there for lunch and dinner..and would go back again..not every visit...but every couple years as the atmosphere/entertainment is great...the food is average...but overall its a nice cool place to sit for an hour and recharge the batteries on a hot day.

1900 Park Fare...I was with two kids 7 and 9 Jan 2012...thier first trip..we did dinner and again the food was'nt great by ant stretch BUT Lady Tramaine and 2 Stepsisters Drizella and Anastasia were priceless..their interaction was perhaps the best Ive seen..The 7 year old boy was approched by Drizella and she asked him if she could give him a kiss on the cheek....he turned 50 shades of pink and said no....this prompted Drizella to get very angry and shout across the room to Lady Tremaine that a young man was refusing her kiss. It was quite entertaining to watch what happened over the next several minutes as Lady Tremaine and Anastasia came to our table ending with a very bright red set of lips plastered on his cheek...which in turn he refused to wash off...this was worth the price of the meal in and of itself...and I'd go back just for that.

Cape May Breakfast Buffet.(our favorite)..or any Breakfast Buffet as mentioned is pretty standard fare..there are some unique things pending on the place..but all in all...I dont mind eating a breakfast buffet

That being said..I still despise Hollywood and Vine...
1900 Park Fare is about the only character meal I like to do any more and Lady Tramaine and 2 Stepsisters are the reason why.

been there for breakfast. like most of the posts have already pointed out, the food is standard for a breakfast buffet. not great, but not bad.. it's more about the character interaction, especially with the kids. that is what makes it enjoyable for me...

We did it for dinner last week. And unless some serious changes are made, we will never go back. Despite pretty solid in park crowds, (F! was standing room only 30+ mins prior to the show) the restaurant had maybe 20 tables used. And thats generous. Despite being told by our waitress about the 2 sides to the buffet, only 1 was open. Several times the platters of food were empty, or the carving station was waiting for the next meat to finish cooking. We ate at 4 other buffets that trip, and typically the platters were being refilled well before empty. Food had minimal flavor, lots of it seemed on the bland side. Waitstaff was fine, no problems there, but for the price we paid the food was terrible. May have more value when the characters are there, but not worth it for food alone.

We have an ADR for breakfast at H&V. I have seen a lot of terrible reviews on this site. Is it really that bad? Should I cancel?
Did this about 5 summers ago and haven't been back. Not that it was bad but our kids out grew the play house Disney characters. But for old times sake we booked it for this July. I'm looking forward to making my own decision. Don't cancel. Check it out for yourself. I hope you have a great meal

When DD was 5yrs and younger, we did the Hollywood and Vine breakfast each visit. 3 or 4 times total. The food is nothing to write home about - standard buffet breakfast choices. The character experience for a little one who watches Disney Junior shows is pretty nice. In addition to the characters coming around as usual, the CMs do (or at least used to do) a nice little song and dance routine that the kids are invited to come up and be a part of. They sing a couple of the show theme songs and have a lot of fun with the kids. Lots of quality memories of those experiences.

This sums it up well. We always go becuase of DD4. We have never not liked the breakfast, but as stated it's nothing to write home about. Now dinner, yikes, it's bad!

Only been once, for breakfast in 2006 because we had a 2 yr. old. My husband still says never again.... I dunno, I might try it if I wanted to do the Fantasmic dining package or something, but I have to say, "cold cuts" on a buffet doesn't sound that appetizing to me right now.

I particularly remember we couldn't find anything that wasn't stale or bad tasting (water eggs, bad cornbeef hash - like from a can and tasted like can bad.) I remember settling on cereal. Milk was warm.
