Is going on your own less fun?

Those of you who have been on solo trips...how long did you stay?

Mine was eight days.

Another fun part about being solo was how well I had certain things planned & watching others stumbling around with their group. Example was at the airport security checkpoints. I wore Crocs the entire trip and had them set to kick off when they asked for the shoes. I watched families and couples struggle to find pieces of wall or play stork while they tied their shoes back on out of others ways & get grumpy when the others were slow putting their shoes back on. :) I just grab bag after dropping Crocs on the floor and slipped into them and was off laughing at the non Disney shows at the airports.

What that has to do with going alone is you can get through stuff by yourself faster than having to wait for someone else to get done something that they're not doing smartly.

"Three words: Single Riders Lines."

Seconded!! It's nice to have an AP and just duck in to one of the parks, hit a few rides and then leave at your leisure when you have some time to kill. And I did have a blast on my own at the Adventurer's Club while I was staying at Saratoga Springs waiting for some friends to show up. Beulah, the maid, gave me lots of, um, special attention:animwink::zipit:!!!

When I was on my CP, I'd go to the parks by myself all the time. If nobody was around to hang out with, I'd just head over to one of the parks and enjoy the atmosphere. Sometimes I wouldn't even ride a single ride. I'd just walk around taking pictures and discovering new things. I also had a reunion trip with some co-workers, but they could only come down for 4 days, and I thought it was silly to pay that much for a flight and only stay for a few days, so I flew down 3 days before my friends and got my own room. I had an awesome time by myself, but I'm a natural loner anyway. When I first started going on rides by myself, I felt awkward saying I was a single rider all the time, but then I remembered that I didn't even give single riders a second thought when I was working. The best part, like others have already said, was getting to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to do it. If I wanted to ride one ride, and then hike all the way across the park to ride something else, there was nobody to complain about too much walking. If I wasn't hungry, there was nobody to try to coordinate my stomach with. I could stay for every last second of EMH if I wanted.
If you don't mind being alone, or if you're relatively independent and you like exploring things on your own, you'll have a great time no matter what. I think Disney is 90% attitude anyway. If you come there determined to have a good time, you will, whether you're by yourself or with a party of 15. If you come down there expecting everything to be boring or lame, that's exactly the kind of vacation you'll end up with.

First, a shout out to your user name....LET"S GO RED WINGS!! HEY-HEY HOCKEYTOWN!! and...I WANT STANLEY!!! :sohappy::sohappy: Grew up in Detroit, and I'm a big Wings fan.

Back to the point, I've done the solo thing many times (many more trips with friends and family), and every time I say I'm just going to spend a day sitting and soaking up atmosphere. Never happens though as I always find something else to go see that I haven't seen in my 200-plus lifetime days in the parks. I hope I can, one day, hold myself to that. I've actually thought that what I need to do is head to WDW at a time when I have a lot of writing and researching to do, take my laptop into a park, and just sit, work, watch, and enjoy, with a few breaks for rides and shows now and then.

In any event, for the OP, going solo is great. Better in some ways, worse in others, but great. And, it's different enough from a trip with others that I really think everybody should experience it both ways, just as everybody should do a WDW trip with little kids.
