Is fastpass being installed at Dumbo?

Isn't the new Dumbo supposed to give you something like a buzzer like what you get when you check in at a restaurant, after which you are encouraged to stay in the tent playing carnival games until it is your time to board your Dumbo?

That was my understanding of what I read was planned for the dual Dumbo when it opens in its new location as part of the Fantasyland Expansion.

All we officially know is that they're going to be using the "Next Generation Queueless Queue" at the new Dumbo. They may use a pager system, or perhaps a "take a number" system like at the License Branch. Most likely it will be similar to the trial they ran over at RnRC.

I have never understood this concern... That's why one uses FP: to not have to stand in the stand-by line. We've always either used FP, gotten in a short stand-by line, or bypassed an attraction with a long stand-by. Seems that's what FP is for.

The existence of FP on an attraction makes the stand-by line move slower. A short stand-by line could potentially take longer with FP than would a longer line if FP did not exist. There aren't sufficient Fast-Passes for everyone to have one, so while FP certainly benefits you, your reduced time spent in line may come at the expense of somebody else. There's no free lunch.

I've seen this address being used for other jobs in different Fantasyland locations as well. Perhaps the permit is being used for the Mickey's PhillarMagic FASTPASS distribution? The address could pertain to the Fantasyland courtyard itself, but not necessarily the specific attractions in it.

Right. Most likely it's for something non-Dumbo. They just wrote "Dumbo" on there because its in that vicinity. BVCC probably completes their notices using a computer system, and when they typed in the address, it auto-populated "Dumbo".

Here's the advantage of Fastpass on Dumbo. I've been on Dumbo once in the last 10 years, so more Fastpasses on attractions that I don't visit the better my day is.

What's curious about this is, "why now?" I don't think it's a horrible idea to add Fastpass to Dumbo, but it really doesn't make a lot of sense right now, nor is it the attraction that is in most need of adding it. I would guess it's something to do with moving the PhilharMagic machines, that makes more sense.

I disagree, I think more FP's would lessen the stand-by line.:)

The ride can only hold 32 people (16 elephants) and it cycles every 3:00 minutes or so (1:30 ride time plus load/unload).

If they implement FP, you would need to assume that they fill half of the elephants with FP and half with standby guests each time. You're still going to wait a certain number of cycles in the FP line, and if you're in standby your wait will roughly double.

But, Fastpass has been discussed ad nauseam in another thread so we should just stick to discussing whether or not Dumbo is getting Fastpass....and the answer is likely "no".
