Is Epcot slowly heading backwards?

I think it is more "Epcot going off course" than anything else.

BUT

...think about it, if it goes backwards we will get WOL and Horizons back :ROFLOL::sohappy::ROFLOL:

Oh, wow. I guess we get to look at them for quite awhile then.

Unless they moved them, which has been discussed at length before. There is nothing stating exactly where they will be viewable at. They could move them elsewhere in EPCOT and free up that entrance space for something truly breathtaking, and more open. I feel like I'm walking through a graveyard in that area.

Agreed. The first time I went to Epcot (in 2009), I was a little confused by the contrast between the entrance at Epcot and those of the other parks.

As for there not being enough convention space in the parks...I don't think that the parks were ever meant to be rented out like this. Or using pavillion space twice a year instead of having it as a pavillion. Which Epcot sorely needs.

With all the land Disney has, they couldn't have built appropriate convention space that wouldn't interfere with normal park operations? Build behind the World Showcase if there's space. Instead of the new countries that are never going to come, build appropriate convention space for whatever it is that its needed for. Make the Odyssey a restaurant again, because another QS would be welcomed with all the 180 day reservations for the TS being filled up.

Use the Millenium Center for whatever overflow and remove the shubbery from the entrance of WoL and make that a Nutrition and Health pavillion. Bring back some variation of Kitchen Kabaret and a ride of some sort that fits the theme.

If you think about the future the future is no longer about flashy gadgets, we have them now. Now the future is about recources, fuel effiency, and transportation. Todays vishion of the future is about living on this earth without leaving a trace and world peace. The new test track could cover 55% of today's vishion of the future if they plan this right. The 3 pavilions that could really thrive on today's vishion of the future to me are, Test Track, Universe of Energy, and there are so many new features and elements they can add to the Living Seas that can double the attendance. I's an aquarium they are everywhere, they need something, maybe an IMAX or something like that.

All of this convention talk got me to thinking and it is really sad that it is as much of an influence as it is over the direction and content of Epcot. I have done a good bit of reading (not nearly as much as some) on Walt and his vision and I think selling out to corporate america is far from it. It almost makes me feel like my admission dollar goes towards supporting big business and less towards the continued growth and evolution of the park.

I understand that the company owes it to the shareholders to show profits but at what point will they jump the shark if they continue to cater to conventions and not even notice a dirty screen surface at Soarin in lieu of a larger quarterly return?

I love Epcot, I love Disney, I do not believe there is another vacation like it that you can spend with your family...I just hope that they become a little more introspective in the coming years before things get out of hand.

Thinking about the average park-goers today, I don't think Wonders of Life in its original form would work. I think that if it is ever reopened, it would need to have a new theme to be popular. People don't want to go on vacation and learn about health and their bodies. As said before, a weather pavilion could be really cool.
