Is Disney's Hollywood Studios' theme a bit loose?

I was referring to Walt Disney Studios Paris... It's even worse than DHS in that it opened with no intention of something ever being filmed there.

True but also false since Disney Channel France and Radio Disney France are/were situated and broadcast from within the theme park.

http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Channel_France: Disney Channel est diffusée depuis Marne-la-Vallée, et est située en plein cœur du Parc Walt Disney Studios.

True. But them having a Backlot Tour makes no sense to me. Unless they show backstage areas of Disney Channel France and Radio Disney France. That'd be kind of interesting.

I applaud Universal Studios for removing the Backlot Tour once they realized it wasn't anything special. If only Disney would realize.

There used to be a Disney Channel studio tour attraction but that got taken over by an interactive Stitch attraction and Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior Live.

Disney should quit it with the studio thing they're attempting to do. They've proven they're incapable of pulling it off, what? Three times now? Leave it to Universal and forget it, please.

I agree. Universal Studios Hollywood should be the only movie studio park out there since its the real deal. Universal Studios Florida doesn't even capitalize on being a film studio as much as DHS and WDSP do. Only Production Central at Universal Studios Florida is themed to a movie studio, with the soundstages and all that. The rest of the park focuses on actually placing the guest in a true themed environment. DHS has Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard (which are beautiful!) but the entire rest of the park tries to give off the idea that something important is being filmed there. Then you realize nothing important is when you ride The Backlot Tour and they begin describing a hedge.

I feel like I've said this a million times, but it's true.

You think that's bad? You should see Hollywood Land at DCA. Arguably the worst land in the entire resort.

Even Universal has mostly given up. Just look at Japan, Singapore, Dubai and Moscow.

Exactly. Gosh, I wish Disney would just do the same. I haven't been to DHS yet, but Hollywood Land at DCA is gag-worthy. Now they're apparently trying to make it worse by adding a Monstropolis, which I hope to God doesn't happen for many reasons. Who is coming up with these ideas? It's getting scary.

I've seen pictures, and I think that the actual Hollywood themed buildings look nice. Though I don't know if I liked the backdrop at the end of the street or not. But yeah, the "soundstages" aren't pretty.

Some of the buildings look nice, sure. But the land as a whole is disjointed, which is pathetic since the actual city of Hollywood is just 30-40 minutes away. The Bay Area (Pacific Wharf, San Francisco, 7-8 hours away) looks way better than Hollywood Land.

I'm sorry for bumping this up from so long ago, but I just have to get it off my chest:

Another reason, one big reason, why I brought up this topic is because, as you can see on the Imagineer section, some of my threads (or my posts in other peoples' threads) involve creating new rides that seem like it would only fit in the Studios. For example, a lot of threads I had created involving Mickey and friends (i.e., http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...et-another-revival-open-brainstorming.832483/, http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...circus-feedback-and-critiques-welcome.836057/, http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-goofy-themed-dark-ride-with-no-place-for-it-to-go.856525/) seemed to indicate that the only place they would fit is in the Studios simply because they're movies.

I had also contributed to this thread on "Wreck-It Ralph"-themed rides (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/wreck-it-ralph-attractions-for-disney-parks.859445/). I kept trying to find other parks besides the Studios to put these rides in, most notably castle parks, because I think the theme of movies alone is too simple and too loose. But it seems like the Studios is the only place where they can go, because the themes of the other parks would go against these themes of these rides somehow, or they just don't have the space for them, like with a new Toontown I thought of for the Magic Kingdom. I had given in on that matter, because Storybook Circus actually looks pretty nice (I finally came up with a semi-workable Mickey and friends-themed dark ride for that: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/mickeys-big-top-spin-for-mks-storybook-circus.860790/).

The thing is, I'm more comfortable with the castle parks (and, to a lesser extent, Epcot and the California Adventure) when it comes to my creating new rides for the parks on those Imagineer threads. Sorry, but the Studios is just too much of a mess, and the Animal Kingdom, where people had suggested I put my Goofy ride, is just beneath me.

That whole thing up there was one reason why I had created this thread, to get something off my mind.

Now, can anyone help me address this post here?

I think the basic theme is movies and pop culture. Which means yeah, it can be anything goes.
Personally, I believe they should stop making it look like a real, serious studio and start implying it's a fantasy studio. It's where Mickey and the gang film their cartoons.
Magic Kingdom = where they live
DHS = where they work
Simple as that.

I thought that Disneyland was where they lived, while the Magic Kingdom was, until recently, their vacation home.

Their vacation home has a bigger castle than their actual home? XD
actually, the theory has merit. After all, even when Disney World had a Toon Town, it was kind of pathetic next to Disneyland's. So I could believe that's where they actually live.
That is how it is, though their vacation homes are now gone.
You could theory that they simply moved their vacation homes out of the public view. Too many people leaving trash in Minnie's house. (true story ><)
