Is Be Our Guest REALLY worth it?

So here's my dilemma. I had all my ADRs planned for December then late EMH were released for MK on Wednesday when I was planning on being at MK on Monday. I love being in the parks as late as possible. I have an 8:10 ADR at BOG on Monday. I'll keep looking for Wednesday, but if I'm unable to get one is it really worth keeping the one on Monday? I'm sure it will be easier to pick something up at a Monorail resort or elsewhere in the MK on Wednesday. I was already able to move my Wednesday reservation at Sanna to Monday.

We enjoyed BOG and have dined there twice for lunch. Unable to get a reservation however for our next trip.

I wouldn't plan around BOG. Enjoy it if you go and skip if you don't go. It's fun but not a reason to change your whole schedule.

First of all, if there are EMH at MK on Wednesday, you want to avoid that. Crazy busy, not so Extra Magic-y, hard to escape at the end of the night.

Is BoG worth it? Yes, because...alcohol.

But seriously, it depends on who is going and what you like. It's more or less a French-inspired restaurant. It's not overpriced, but not inexpensive. If you haven't already, check out the menu online. The experience itself is pretty cool, the building exterior & interior, Beast walking through, meeting him on the way out, etc.

We have had dinner there twice and loved it both times. We thought the food was closer to what we would get at the resort restaurants than typical theme park fare. But we are all about the meals at WDW. (And yes, it's the only place to get alcohol in MK, which does factor in for us, especially if a lot of crazy people are getting on my nerves LOL.)

The only complaints I've heard from these boards are from people who might not appreciate that style of restaurant in any context. So it's about what you like.

I have not had dinner ther but lunch is just okay. It is a step above cafeteria style food. You order at a kiosk and they deliver it to you in a fancy push cart. Definatley I would recommend the rose room instead of the giant ballroom, it's much more cozy and in my opinion better themed.

It sounds like you are a fairy adventurous eater with your Sanaa ADR, you may want to consider the Skippers Canteen. Definatley was my favorite meal in the MK.

But then again alcohol...hmmm

I've always found that the late EMH tend to clear out by the end of the night. People think they're going to stay until midnight...but they get tired. The alcohol is a plus, but I can always hop on the monorail and head over to Trader Sams. I really would love to experience BOG though...I'm torn.

Have you been recently? Because what you describe was our experience as well a few years ago, but in the last couple of years, omg we've felt "trapped" at the end of the night in a maze of ropes waiting forever just to get on the monorail to TTC.

That. Drives. Me. Nuts. Absolutely hated it. Happened on two separate trips, and we decided no more.

And one of my favorite things to do is the "nighttime route" when everyone else is watching the parades and fireworks - going on jungle cruise, pirates, country bears, haunted mansion, etc. in the dark. But we do that on regular nights with no EMH now and it's generally walk-on for most rides. It's longer waits on EMH nights, even late.

(And we almost always go at "low season" times!)

I haven't been since 2013. I went every year in December for about 7 years before that, but I've heard the crowds have gotten worse recently. I'm not a rope drop person on vacation so I prefer to stay in the parks as late as possible.

I agree with the alcohol for sure!!! That's probably why I'm not a rope drop person.

We love our dinners at BOG just for the ambiance. Belle is my daughter's favorite princess. We all have the movie memorized. It's just cool to be able to dine in the Beast's castle. We've been able to dine in the ballroom, which is beautiful. Our meals have been tasty, too. It's also always fun to applaud the Beast when he comes out for his m&g appearances. As with most WDW dining - it's the experience - amazing food is a wonderful bonus.

IF you have never been to BOG before, then I would say go. It is a nice place. Especially if the trade off is going to be stuck at late night EMH - Extra Mass of Humans.

I don't find BOG to be the end all / be all of dining (at WDW or anywhere for that matter) but it is an enjoyable experience. Some of the appitizers and entrees are very good, some are just OK. I find the dessets to be underwhelming. I am torn about the atmosphere. It is beautifully done, and I understand that you are supposed to be in a castle. But the sheer size of the rooms and the cieling height also makes me feel like I am eating in a wharehouse - a nicely decorated wharehouse.

The service there has been top notch every time we have gone.

I know you're sorta kidding, but this is a pretty big thing for me. It doesn't matter how fine the dining is - if there's not a glass or 2 of wine along with it, it ain't fine dining!

It's actually not a big thing for us. My wife has a serious sensitivity to sulfites, which are in every bottle of wine. Any non-sulfite wine you might find is completely vile and not worth drinking. We eat in multiple fine dining establishments and have not had a glass of wine in any of them in over 35 years. Drink up as you will, but yes, without a glass or two of wine it is still fine dining for many people.

I think it depends on how much you value atmosphere and whether or not you like Beauty and the Beast. Belle was my favorite character growing up, so when I heard about the restaurant, I was dying to go. I'm not a huge fan of the menu because I tend not to like French food very much, but all I cared about was sitting in that ballroom and soaking in the details. Plus, it was nice to see the Beast because I had pictures with him when I was a kid.
