Is Art of Animation a Value Resort Still?

Unless you just REALLY want to stay at Art of Animation because you think it looks awesome, I would plan on staying somewhere else and here is why...

I have never stayed in a Value and part of the reason why is because everytime I price them, I find that they fail to live up to the name "value". Although discounts are never guaranteed, it seems to be my observation that there is ALWAYS a discount available, and the percentage off depends on what type of resort you choose. Currently, there is NO discount available for Art of Animation, but the moderate resorts get 25-30 percent discounts. This means that you can effectively stay in a moderate with the discount and be paying LESS than you would be paying for the Value without a discount.

When we booked our April 2013 trip, we called in planning to book a Mermaid room at AoA (as Ariel has been her favorite princess for quite a while...), but ended up *saving* money by booking CB with the discount at that time.

Fastforward one year as we called in to book our April 2014 trip, again with my daughter really waning to stay in a Mermaid room. CB and AoA were the same, with PORS available at a moderate increase, and POP! available discount. We still went with AoA, we loved our previous stay there in Dec 2012, because we valued the experience more than that of POP! or CB!

Next time, though? We'll probably go for more space.

Staying in a Little Mermaid room with my 4 year old and my parents in June (two rooms).

Personally I can't wait, this is probably the only chance I'll get to do Disney and wanted the full on OTT Disney theme for him. AoA fits that bill for me personally.

Plan on being out a lot of the time so as long as I can shower and sleep I'm happy. I just know he'll be over awed by the whole Disney theme!!!!!!

He will love AoA. Make sure and visit the Cars section. It is amazing. It is so worth the price to get two bathrooms and the kitchenette to me. The price you will see on the Disney site includes tax and such. When you click on the "details" you will see you are actually paying a lot less for the room per night. We only paid 215.00 plus tax for the Cars Suites in November, but we paid 267.00 with the a discount in April 2013. They do not discount the Nemo suites or the standard rooms, but they do discount the other suites. We could get a 20% passholder discount if we stayed in Cars, but we've stayed in those two times so we want to try the Nemo ones. We stayed in Mermaid the day after it opened for 97.00 for weekday and 109.00 for weekend. It's way more than that now. The rooms are tiny, but they are super cute.
