Iron Chef and Philadelphia

Hey everyone, I just got home from a fun night in Philadelphia. We went to see "Annie" at the Walnut Street Theater and then went to Morimoto for dinner.

I had to tell you all about Morimoto. The food was amazing!!! Morimoto is owned by one of Philadelphias most famous restaurant owners (in Phila. to be famous, you own a restaurant) and is run by Iron Chef Japan (morimoto as seen on Iron CHef on Food Network). The sushi was even better then at the California Grill (and that is hard to beat) and my main course was even more amazing. If you are in philadelphia, make sure you visit this place (make reservations early, we didnt have one, but we got there at 5pm when it opened and got to sit at the Sushi bar, which i think is funner). I have been dying to eat there for so long and now i cant wait to go back. Here is the offical site if you want to see photos of it http://www.morimotorestaurant.com Its a cool site design (and the girl on the main page is actually a photo on the wall of the restaurant when you walk in that moves as you walk).

Let me know if you have been there before and what you though and what you had, i am looking for ideas (my friends are now planning to take me there for my birthday).

Also, we had Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream later that night and that was good to, even though its freezing outside.

Thanks! I heard the name, but didn't know much about it. We'll have to try it.

How close is it to the Walnut Street Theater?

It is very close to Walnut Street. We parked in the lot next to Walnut Street and walked down. Its just at the end of jewlers row about a block or 2 from the Gallery. You have to look for it, the building looks like a nrmal Chestnut Street building, but the first 2 floors has this cool concret wave looking facade and the "morimoto" logo embeded in it that changes colors.

It was a little chilly walking to the restaurant after the show (left my coat in the car) but worth it to not have to pay twice for parking.

Well you must not have tried Morimoto...

Actually i didnt like sushi for a while and then i had some from a local place called Yamato in Voorhees NJ and fell in love with it. I suggest you try it again and start out with some non-raw sushi, like a California Roll, or an Eel Maki (which is BBQed Eel in a sushi style) both are good. And Wolfgang Pucks does good sushi and the California Grill had an amazing Beef Maki.

There is more to sushi then just raw tuna(which is also good).

Thanks! I think I know exactly where you're talking about. I'll have to keep it in mind the next time we see a show.
