One more thing! I have windows 98 and I know I need windows 2000 to download itunes. What is the best way to upgrade to windows 2000 without getting a new computer?

iPod for storeage, iPod mini for size. Which is more important, size or disk size?

Also, get more RAM before you get XP, or just use MusicMatch.

Look into the numerous ofter large mp3 storage devices that are exaclty like the iPod, except much cheaper. Dell DJ, The Rio, etc.

Also, NEVER EVER EVER EVER upgrade to windows 2000. It's poison for a PC. Get enough RAM and upgrade to XP or stay with 98! I can't stress that enough. Windows 2000 and Me are death in the form of software!

I completly dissagre. Im an avid 2000 user and have been since it was in beta..and have had 0 problems with it in 5 years. XP to me is just 2000 version 2..its not worth the upgrade.

iPod is the better deal for $249.00 you get alot more than the mini for $200. But if you are on a budget the $200 one is ok. But I still like Sony more.

Well, how much music do you have? That should be a big factor in your decision. Those colourful iPod mini's are definately very cute (I finally saw one in person this weekend). However, I like my 10gb iPod just fine. You can send your iPod to a company called Colour Ware and they will paint your iPod mostly any colour you could think of, if you are so inclined.

iPod mini's hold 4gb of music. If you have more than that.. go for the iPod.

No matter if you get the iPod or the iPod mini, make sure you get the dock and some sort of case for it. You'll be sorry if you don't.

Also keep in mind that the iPod can be used as a hard drive to backup whatever on. I'm pretty sure you can do this with the iPod mini as well.

If you insist upon staying with Windows, upgrade to XP and download iTunes (or does that come on the cd with the iPod now?). And get a Firewire card (as opposed to USB 2.0). That worked fine for me for about six months. Then you'll wanna get a Mac. ;)
