IOA's next big thing/thrill attraction?

Attendance hasnt been that bad. It wasnt what they had hopped for this year, which hopefully will prompt them to build a new ride or two. Spring Break was the biggest disappointment, with rain most days, it drove many people away. Although attendance might not be the best, it looks like they might pull a profit again. Income rose the first quarter, now they did end up in the red but only because they bulk most of their spending to the first quarter. Hopefully things start changing at Universal Orlando, they really need it.

They will I think, not that people are sick of Disney, but that more and more people are going to "Orlando" rather than just Disney.

Another problem I think IoA had was that Universal had huge expectations for the park, and then mis-advertised it.

Also, thanks ahead of time for trying to find the concept art and any info on the Helicoptours. :D

I've been trying to find it but I havent had much time, I think Orlandorocks.com has some, I'll check on later. Anyways the biggest problem IoA had from the begining was the horrible advertising it had. They spent all that money to build it, just not much to get people to want to go to it. Hopefully this will also change.

Here's some concept art of Islands of Adventure from Scott Sherman Design... pretty interesting stuff including the Jeep ride...

Jeep Tours concept art is no longer there....I believe I remember hearing that Universal made him take it down.

You notice that the only thing he has on their now is the defunt Triceratops Encounter and the Play Area. Since Universal made him take down the Jeep Attraction concept art, it would lead me to believe that Universal still has an interest in the concept, enough so to keep it under lock and key. I am not saying that it is going to be the next attraction, but it is obviously something they want to keep close as an option for a future attraction.

Does Anyone know where to get good ride videos for universal?
Universal-Excitement.com used to have a ton of them but the site owner took all of them down. The only places I can think of that have them now are OrlandoRocks.com and #Disney-Central.

From Screamscape:

2007 - New Jurassic Park Attraction - Rumor - (7/25/05) The buzz is getting so loud it’s almost mind numbing, but in addition to rumors, I’ve heard from a good source that a new attraction is now locked into place for 2007. The only odd thing is that we’re hearing quite a few reports about where this new attraction may be placed, which mean it could be quite large. The land between the River Adventure and Flying Unicorn is an obvious choice for another Jurassic Park themed attraction (it’s where the balloons were sighted) but we’ve also heard that it may make use of the former Triceratops Encounter area as well as have an impact on Camp Jurassic as well. More as we find out.

I read that earlier today, sounds good to me. Hopefully it is true and some info will start coming out about it.

Just to throw into the rumor mixing pot.

From Screamscape:

2007 - New Jurassic Park Attraction - Rumor - (7/27/05) While I have nothing to back this latest rumor up, one source suggests that Universal was quite happy with Premier Rides coaster system used for the Mummy last year and they may have tempted them again to try a Jurassic Park Jeep version of Premier’s latest ride... The Italian Job Stunt Track for Premier Parks. Like Mummy, the ride could start with a slow tour of the jungle before you get attacked by a large dino like a T-Rex, followed by a launch into a high speed escape through the jungle. It sounds like a good idea... if it wasn’t so similar to Revenge of the Mummy next door.

I'd love to see a B&M flyer, the whole aviary concept with Pterodactyls would be awesome. But then again, the Jeep tour sounds cool too, as long as it can be thrilling and last long enough to be worthwhile.

In the meantime, I see a new fireworks show similar to Illuminations, Halloween Horror Nights, and after that hopefully an announcement.

By the way, there is room on both sides of Jurassic Park River Adventure, so perhaps they'll surprise everyone and put in JEEPers and the B&M flyer! Haha

I finally got to try one of those a couple months ago and was pretty disappointed. The pretzel loop was neat but it was just dull after that.

I hope that whatever Universal is cooking up is something unique and innovative. I'd be disappointed if it turns out to be a flyer. Doubly so if it turns out to be a Jurassic Park version of Italian Job Stunt Track.

But man that is one of the neatest feelings on a roller coaster today. I rode one of the Superman flyers at Six Flags in Atlanta and that was definately the highlight of the ride. Everything else in it was ok.

The bad thing about flyers, is that they have a low ride capacity compared to other coasters. I wouldn't mind see another Premier Coaster, they are really showing they can work with parks and come up with great experience. Unlike other coaster designers that don't want to (or reluctant) work with parks to create great attractions. Obviously Vekoma can do some good things as well.
