IOA Halloween 2003???

I seem to remember hearing and/or reading last year that the party would be alternating between US and IOA from year to year. But this site thinks that it will be at IOA again this year.

www.geocities.com/halloween_horror_nights/

Go to news/rumors. It talks about 6 haunted houses this year. This site seemed to know what it was talking about last year, but as with any other unoffcial rumor site remember that it's ALL RUMOR until US/IOA makes an official announcement.

Cheers

PS...Personally I hope it's at IOA again this year. Maybe a nice US/IOA cast member can shed some light on plans for '03.

Ouch, just had a look at the ticket prices at there $52.00 a head!!!! Does that seem a little too steep to anyone else? We planned this vacation around gooing to HHN, but at THAT price I'm a little concerned.

Also there's no junior price which means we have to pay addult prices for our 7 year old and what about our 2 year old???

Our 7 year old has been going to HHN since he was 3 years old and always enjoys it, but I never remember tickets being that expensive.

Usually we buy them on the day, and I seem to remember that this attracted something of a discount.

Thanks for linking to my site!!! I actually typed that last rumor up really fast, and I just posted the longer, more thought out version of it. Heres a direct link to the news/rumors page.

we went last year and i'm sure it wasn't anything like that price

we bought the tickets at the same time when we bought a 2 day parks pass so we might have got a slight discount

Yeah, similar here. We bought the tickets on the day and got a great discount.

My worry is that HHN are becoming so popular that we might have trouble getting tickets. I heard that several nights were sold out completely last year.

Almost every Friday and Saturday night before Halloween sold out last year. I normally buy my tickets at spencer gifts in the malls so I could get in.

Went last year for almost half the price you mentioned(the first weekend). Man, that had to be the most fun vacation I've ever taken. Hopefully, they do it again at IOA. Maybe I'll visit again.

we went on the opening night last year as it was the last night of our holiday

we bought the tickets the week before when we went into IOA for the day

Sorcerer Mickey - it's definitely at IOA again this year - well, that's what their website says !

i asked the girlfriend last night and she said it was about $25 to $30 each from what she remembers

Yeah, this is what I was thinking.

Having discussed it at home, we're gonna take the risk. I'm certainly not going to pay $150.00 for tickets I can get for $100.00 when I get to Orlando.

Involving the ticket prices... yes, they were about that steep last year.

HHN and Universal Employees get a 50% discount on them and they would still cost like $25.17 after taxes. It's the biggest (and really only) big Halloween draw in Orlando, so it pretty much has a monopoly on it (ie- it charges what it wants).

I don't know if I can but I am going to try and be down there for the employee preview and opening night. I will post reviews if I am.

It's a concern. I mean I don't wanna miss the event through waiting to arrive, but then I don't wanna rip myself off either.

As a person from FL who has bought tickets in advance and at the gate I can tell you that the $52 is pretty close to the price they were charging at the gate about three years ago. It was about the same price as day admission to the park, anyway whatever that was at the time. It wasn’t $52 but it was only a few dollars less… Also, in my case, I’m pretty sure I got some sort of discount (AAA, maybe?) which might have brought it down a bit… Here in FL, they usually run promotions with Taco Bell or something where you can get somewhere around $10 or $12 off advance tickets with a coupon for peak nights and around $20 off for the non-peak nights… I’m not so sure about the whole selling out thing. The first year I went it was sort of a spur of the moment thing and when we got to the parking garage, they told us that the tickets were sold out but they encouraged us to check out City Walk and ‘try’ to get tickets at the gate… We got to the gate and got in line and bought tickets along with the 200 or so other people up there with absolutely no problem.

One thing with buying the tickets in advance from where you are that I don’t think applies locally to tickets purchase from Universal Outlets (the parks, Spencer Gifts or the Halloween shops) is Ticket Master fees…

One thing to keep in mind with HHN is it is strongly promoted to locals and they tend to do better business on these nights than they do during the days so it sort of makes sense that they would try to charge whatever they can. For someone in the area who doesn’t have all the expenses of a vacation who sees this event as a special once a year thing, these prices are comparable to other evening out splurges.

Thanks MrPromey, that kinda confirmed my some of my thinking on the price.

Whenever we have gone in the past we have brought tickets on the day, but we have always been in the park during the day in any case so we were able to get the 'Stay of and be Scared' discounts. I think we paid as little as $26-30 in 1999.

All things considered, especially the fact that we have delayed our vacation by 3 months simply because we want to go to HHN @ IOA, I think I'm now gonna by online from the USF website.

I know we can get discounts if we went to the park during the day and bought them then, but I don't think we're planning to do it that way this year.

Well, this is good news for me...

Halloween Horror Nights(R) 13 Frequent Fear Pass

Valid for unlimited admission to the Halloween Horror Nights® 13 event at Islands of Adventure on the following non-peak nights: October 5, 12, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 26, 28, 29, and 30, 2003. Please click "More Info" for complete details.

Those dates suit our plans. We wanted to go on one of the quiter nights anyway, and this means we might even go back for a second HHN.
