"Inverted Simulation Attraction" for Disney?

yep and i agree with you and have read all those other posts you have said in the past about patents... i was just making the comment this would go well with an avatar ride that this patent looks like it would be perfect for an avatar ride:)

Ok, I see. I guess I would agree. I'm not hugely keen on a Soarin 2.0 attraction apparatus. It's been done, and was an engineering marvel. Separating it into 3 floors per theater and putting the ride vehicles on telescoping arms does nothing for me, or for the advancement of ride technology. In fact, they likely would have bought a ride system from a third party that has been using the system for things less exciting than a Disney attraction.

I really like the Monsters Inc use mentioned above. It would work superbly for the door factory, while also treating the rest of the attraction like Peter Pan. I'd much rather have an elaborate dark ride than a coaster anyway.

possible soarin overhaul vehicle would be cool with like a hundred of these all moving in unison

The ride vehicle shown in this patent is track-based, not stationary. This system is the next generation of dark ride vehicle - something that travels through a show building at a moderate speed. Similar to Harry Potter's Forbidden Journey, except hanging from above.

oh well still think a stationary version would be cool without the front part

Just because Disney filed a new patent does not necessarily mean it has an intended use. They continue to move forward with R&D on anything and everything their mad scientists can think of, then put all the inventions in a library. That way, if WDI, TDA, TDO or any Team Disney [International] comes up with an attraction that could use a specific type of vehicle, they won't have to delay design or construction while they wait for a ride apparatus.
This isn't even a Disney patent.

Yes, this is not a Disney patent but like KUKA arm it could go for exclusive licensing (for Disney or Universal for that matter). I get these patents as second hand information and my intention is just to post them here to get them out in the open, get some discussion. And while there are a good number of amusement ride patents out there, I'm just interested in the ones that are getting special attention in the industry, as I hear from other IAAPA members.
