We own a timeshare ok and well its through interval as is like every single timeshare right...anyways they send us a book every once an awhile I guess with all the timeshares that we can stay at, so sure enough Disneys in there we called and asked about staying you know what they said? NO you cant your timeshares too close to the Disneys ones so you cant stay there? What in Gods name Interval lied they said we could stay anywhere in the book! Just cause it says that are timeshares in celebration we cant stay at a Disney timeshare whats the deal? Anybody else have this same problem?

I'm sorry that you didn't read all of the information. :( I'm going to assume that you purchased a timeshare that's listed with RCI or some other group.

You CANNOT exchange your week for a resort in the same location. ie, if I purchase a week at Steamboat at a particular resort, I can't exchange it for a week at another resort in town, even if it's in the book. I CAN exchange it for a week at Vail, however. (just an example)

I own two weeks at different FL resorts. I've exchanged them for ski weeks, weeks in the mountains (Tenn this year) weeks at the beach, etc but never in the same area as my "home" resort. Quite frankly, I've not gotten my money's worth out of my timeshares in the past, but hope to in the future.

Also, even IF you could exchange your week, the chances of getting a week at WDW are very, very slim. If you put in a request NOW, and banked for years ahead, you MIGHT get a week in 2010 or so.

My brother-in-law owns several weeks, and knows how to work the system, so he gets full use out of them. He's also been retired for 10 years, and my sister-in-law just retired. They have no children together, so have always been free to go on off times and at the last minute. They both travelled extensively while working, so had lots of frequent flyer miles. They also do not enjoy warm weather, so have gone to many beach resorts off season to golf. They also use their local weeks near WDW and Daytona area when his grandchildren or out of town guests visit.

Do a search for TUG- timeshare users group- you will find lots of info there. also very nice helpful people. If you hang around there for a while you will learn alot. They really know how to "work the system":animwink:

good luck.

Umm... we own at Westgate Lakes through II and we're allowed to exchange into any Disney resort we want to, but as has already been mentioned, the wait list is probably about 3 to 4 years to get a week there. And that's with us owning a 3 bedroom lock-off in red time! We own 2 weeks through II and 1 through RCI, though, so we've never had a problem staying anywhere else.
