Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here as any past experience with the Disney co-op/internship program. I am currently a Jr, studying Electrical Engineering, and was looking into interning with Disney. All I have found, was the Disney college program, which requires you to work in the parks, not related to Engineering. Does anyone know of any way to skip that process, and apply directly to an Engineering internship? Thanks!

Might work like UPS (Big Brown) Everyone (and I mean everyone ) starts in package operations ( sorting ang delivery ) and work their way up form there to engineering spots.
suggestion: see if you can find any Disney corporate job boards and see if there are ever any engineering jobs postings ( outside some real special skilset )

good luck!:)

I'm a sophomore mechanical engineering major in a similar situation...I recently contacted Disney about it because my school won't approve the college program as a major-related internship unless they see there is something else to it more specific for engineers. I found out about the Professional Development Studies Series that does work specifically with engineering majors during the college program ( http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/students/education/edu_pds.html ). So now I'm waiting to hear from my college whether or not this makes the program an acceptable internship and I'll probably look to apply for the spring '10 program!

Yeah, I saw something about that also. However, I think you still have to work in the park, and then you get to take 6-7, 4 hours classes based on Engineering. I would really like to work at WDW, but it seems like such a scam just getting in with the company lol. I talked to a Disney college rep at our career fair, and they made it seem that if you dont do the college program, that they pretty much dont even consider you for an engr intership/ full time hire. guess its back to the power company for me

I would suggest looking at DisneyCareers.com and searching in the Parks & Resorts section or the Imagineers section for professional internships that relate to your major.

Unfortunately these internships are super hard to get and if anyone who has done the Disney College Program in previous years is applying/going up against you, most likely you'll get beat out by that candidate.

If you're not wanting to do the College Program and are interested in Imagineering I would look into Walt Disney Imagineering's ImagiNations design contest. It's a killer way to get noticed by Walt Disney Imagineering, make connections within WDI and possibly get an internship.

Ya you do have to work in the parks doing the college program, but my hope is to work in attractions where I could get a sense for how the rides work and possibly get to shadow the engineers working on the ride for various reasons.

I am hoping to do the internship project but take those classes where they teach you about ride engineering and so on. Sounds like a lot of fun for one term.
