Internet Access In The Hotel Room

We went last May to the WL and this is what I remember from my experience. NO, they don't have actual internet service available. They do have data ports for you to dail up from your room line. There was a regular .75 cent room charge for us to call our internet provider via an 800#. The 407 area code numbers you need to beware of...some are considered local and some are considered long distance. If your internet provider gives you a 407 number to call, make sure that long distance fees do not apply. We took our laptop to upload photos of our nephew for my sister to see daily. I spent about an hour a night doing this on our computer for only a .75 cent charge. I believe this is the practice at all the WDW resort hotels. Hope this helps.

There is no special Internet access offered. You're stuck with dial-up. I usually get an EarthLink account before heading down to WDW and cancel the account when we get back. (I'm using it now to write this reply :) )

Sadly, when you have broadband at home and incredible bandwidth at work, dial-up is just sooo frustrating.

Thanks,

We live in Atlanta and have DSL through our phone company. They have 800 numbers you can access dial up from while traveling. I think it just depends on your service provider as to what number you have to call. Contact your internet company and ask if they have 800 #s that you can use for dial up. It was great to have the access...just make sure to lock up your laptop when you leave your room. You would hate to come back and try to get online and  your computer is missing! Have a great trip and I hope you can work out your dial up needs. Good Luck! :)

I wonder how long it will be until the offer broadband in the rooms.

I would imagine it would take a little longer than your typical hotel chain hotel...hotels like Marriott, Hyatt, etc. which have been adding the broadband service to their rooms have a much larger business-travel clientele who NEED to be able to use their computers while travelling, and as such, will pay the extra for the broadband (actually, have companies that will pay for them to use broadband...).

Disney, on the other hand, caters mostly to families and other vacation travelers who do NOT HAVE TO use their computers while at Disney. As such, it is much less likely that these people will be willing to pay for the broadband connection. Thus, Disney would be less likely to rush to pay to add such connections to all their rooms.
