Internet Access at Resort Hotels

Hello all,

My mother had asked me a question and I did not know the answer to it so I thought I would ask you all.

She will need to have internet access while she is at the Beach Club this Summer. She knows that internet cost $10 for 24 hours, but our family will have 3 different devices (computers/ipod touch/etc.) with us and she wanted to know if these devices could also be connected to the internet without having to pay for each additional device.

So, if we purchase the internet on computer "A", can computer "B" access the internet too? Does Disney give out a passcode when you purchase the internet?

Finally she will need the internet for all 7 nights/8 days that we are there, can she purchase $70/$80 worth of internet at once or do you have to repurchase the internet everyday?

Thank You!!!

You get a single ethernet network cable to plug into your device. It wont support multiple devices unless you try to setup some kind of hub (doubtful if this would work without information about how their network is setup).

There isnt a passcode, when you sign up it appears to activate the port for web access.

You have to repurchase every day.

Hope that helps :)

My husband does this.....

He plugs in an airport express. Which is a wireless device that connects both of our phones and laptops. He seems to recall that the access is based on a MAC address and cookies but all three devices that we connect work perfectly. If you have problems the resort desk is a great help.

I would ask at the desk, since the billing is done to the room, presumably the specific equipment hooked up shouldn't matter.

To save a bit of money, what I try to do is log on as late as I can on one day, then earlier the next. that way I can connect both days for a single 24-hour connection fee. By pairing up days that way, you can cut the cost of access by half.

Thank you all for the information!!! I will pass it on.

I have a follow up question. If there is no passcode, how can you access the wireless internet that is located in Stormalong Bay and the Hotel Lobby?

Like say for instance, I purchase the internet in my room and then I take my laptop to the lobby for some reason, how will Disney know that I already paid for the internet?

Thank you all again!!!

That's why I said I wasn't sure... I was thinking that since access is billed to the room you might be able to access using multiple equipment and you'd just see one 24-hour billing for the room regardless.

How about if I don't take my computer? I've never noticed internet computers at the resorts. Anybody know where can I go to use one if I need to trade a stock or something that requires the internet?

Reading through the links above ^^^^

Seems to indicate that the High Speed Internet Access [HSIA] can be used by different devices, just one at a time. So, in theory, if one were to access by way of a hub or wireless router it would work [which confirms what was already said about using the 'airport express' wireless router].

And since Wireless access in the lobbies and at Stormalong Bay are billed by credit card, they would be additional charges, rather than billed to the room.

Every room has a Ethernet connection. If you have a wireless router and connect that first then the computer to the router and then set it up the access by the computer through the router. Then when they set up the service connection they will use the MAC number from the router and they should not even know you are sharing the connection across the devices. See if you can get it to work on your own before asking for help. They may not like the connection being shared but since the service is not being supplied by Disney they will likely have you call the provider. It should work. I have never tried because the $10 a day is too steep for me. I just use my phone and if by chance i need access on the computer (ie a site that i need and will not work on the phone) i just tether it to my phone.
