I always worry about the characters getting hurt. I mean, the general public isn't always known for being polite and gentle... I especially worry when you see people rushing princesses clicking cameras like crazy.
hehehe right...Anyways get this when my dad worked for Disney he said one time his friend was the big bad wolf and these other guys who were the pigs started kicking him in the rear during a parade well it was actually starting to get my dads friend mad so he picked one pig up and threw one RIGHT DURING THE PARADE!!! Costume was damaged! Another story one guy was playing as a bear during a parade he passed out so they just picked him up and threw him on a float lol! I gots loads more storys too!!!

You would be really suprised at how often characters get hurt on a day to day basis... Broken parts, kicked, grabbed, rushed, poked, prodded, oh and choked!!!! I think people completely lose their minds when they place their fingers in those biometric readers!!!!

I give entertainment cast members the benefit of the doubt. A high majority of them are very kind and down to earth. They work hard and get little or no appreciation from anyone.

It is tough, because we constantly create magical moments and sometimes are not recognized for it because of the fact that we are in costume. You can't really go up to a greeter and be like, "Hey that Mickey was wonderful with our daughter, what's his/her name so we can write to the company?" Doesn't happen...so that's why sometimes we like to hear people say, "Thank you so much for what you do, we really appreciate it." I had a woman say that to me this Christmas when I was working at Give Kids the World Village and I was in tears.

I hate it when teachers complain about what the kids don't know. Either teach it to them, move on, or find another job. Complaining about them not knowing doesn't "POOF" make them know it!! That kind of magic only occurs at Disney ºoº.
I worry about stupid things for the character actors. I wonder what happens if they just get the costume on and then suddenly have to go use the "facilities" What if they aren't the kind of person that can hold it?
 Once I saw a Mickey at Camp Minnie/Mickey that had mysterious "bumps", but was a very convincing protrayal of a boy mouse in all other aspects!

18 days until we are ºoºrlando bound with 27 teens on a school bus with 930 miles of smiles to look forward to:hammer: :sohappy:

LOL, usually the character should be prepared to go out on set no matter what. That means going to the bathroom BEFORE they go out ;)

I've had my fair share of butt-kickings from kids. Nothing you can really do about it.

I'll take this opportunity to thank all the CM's and the actors in character. They add the magic to the parks! My family and I have made two trips to WDW over the past 3 years, and will be back again in July. The kids love hunting for their favorite characters.

Whilst the parks are excellent, the Cast Members provide the real magic!!

Sad but true a lot of the time, but I found that if a guest mentions the day, park and perhaps the approximate time they met with a character, the cast member will be researched. I got some really nice letters from guests (well, Goofy and the Beast did, but they were brought to my attention). Unfortunately, it also worked the opposite way one time when Jafar "accidentally" ignored a kid trying to get an autograph...

To to OP's point, I don't think you have to be a naturally "huggy" person as a character. I certainly am not. But, when you get into a role and really throw yourself into it, you don't even think twice about hugging another grown man. :lookaroun Unless it's Jafar, then nobody gets a hug! :p

Jafar gave me a hug one time......well maybe it was more of a cold shoulder....
