Interesting things from my trip

My trip was from 7/16-7/19, here are
- The jumping rabbit in Splash Mountain was up and jumping during the 7/18 Extra Magic Hours at MK, but I didn't see it jump during normal park hours, in fact during that time it wasn't even visible.

- Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was down for a good portion of the day on 7/19.

- I was at DAK on 7/16, a day after Servo, Kali was back up and running, I went on it and I still have not gotten soaked on that ride (and proud of that too), noticed nothing wrong.

- Some of the dinos in Dinosaur! were not fully operational and Everest's yeti was on B-Mode (7/16).

- on 7/19 at DHS, My brother and I were on the Backlot Tour, our tram we were on was stopped right before we turned into Catastrophy Canyon, we sat there for at least 20-30 minutes because the guide said there was a problem at the canyon with a commercial that was filming there. our guide Anthony from Lake Charles, Louisiana was very nice and kept us entertained. During the unexpected stop, he told the tram that the commerical crew was there for about a month. He also said that the Chicago scene is what is being added behind the referb wall on the streets of America. After the wait we were detoured around Perimeter Drive and got to see more of the backstage areas.

- Also on 7/19, the boats from POR and POFQ to Downtown Disney were docked on the side during the evening due to rain/lightening, leaving about 100+ people at the french quarter waiting for buses. Some were waiting for over an hour for a bus.

Anything else you want to know just ask and will try to help. I stayed at POFQ, was at AK and DHS on the 16th, Epcot and MK on the 17th, Blizzard Beach and MK on the 18th, and DHS, Epcot, Downtown Disney, and MK on the 19th (all in that order from am to pm).

I felt that the crowds were medium to medium-heavy. Most attraction waits (for me at least) were 0-30 minutes. Test track had a 70 minute wait. TSMM and Soarin' had waits over two hours. I thought the waits for the MK mountains would be higher, the max wait time i saw was 70-80 minutes for space mountain with the others being 45 -60 minute waits. It rained a lot on Wednesday and Thursday, if that helps to explain anything.

I was there the same time as you . My husband and son went to ride Kali but was told it was shut down due to it was hit by lightning the day before . That was first thing in the morning. Maybe they had it up and running later that day when you were there .

We rode Dinosaur! early that morning and it seemed like all dinos were fully operational at that point.

We were stuck in that awful rain storm on 7/17. We were in MK wading through about 6" of water!!! Fun stuff. Didn't take long for everything to clear up though.

One little tid bit I found interesting happened. DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER but we were having dinner at Cosmic Rays and I was telling the CM about how we purchased the meal plan at Universal and we found it very convenient and he informed me that Disney was going to start including it's meal plans FREE to all guests staying at the resort all the time WITHOUT raising the price of the hotel rooms (yeah right!). Anyway, he went on to say that Disney wants to be more environmentally friendly and by keeping guest on property, eating free, and using free transportation, that will have less cars driving around, etc.

Take that bit of info. for what's it's worth... Just thought I'd relay the message.

I don't think these are bad at all! I'll be there in a couple weeks and if anything would think that the peak of the crowds would be starting tilt (ever so gradually) downhill as August arrives.

Regardless, I'll take those wait times.

LMAO. I not shooting the messenger but find it quite comical that a cast member would actually regurgitate that sort of corporate mumbo jumbo. But perhaps they simply don't know any better or even made it up themself.

Free meal plans? That would be great....but I just cant see this happening...it would cost them too much money I think

Especially since according to him they wouldn't raise prices on the rooms. Right....and anybody that buys that, I have some swamp land to sell. :ROFLOL:(Of course, Disney can make swamp land useful. :D)

I agree with you about cost.

We used the meal plan at Universal and it worked out awesome. There are several resteraunts in each park (Univ. and IOA) that you can use. The food ranges from Chicken, burgers, hot dogs, pasta (alfredo too), salads (plain and chicken ceasar), beef and brocolli and sweet and sour chicken, pizza and you get dessert with all meals every time. You can go in these restaurants unlimited from 11:00 a.m. until 1/2 hour before park close. If Disney tweaked the "free" meal plan a bit like Universal it might be able to work, who knows .

Typical... the jumping Brer Rabbit was 101 all our vacation - though he had moved between days suggesting he had been worked on. We did the 18th MK EMH but chose not to ride Splash after BTM (it was 1am and our 4th park in 18 hours....)

I also want to add that in TSMM, Line Jumping is a huge problem. Both times I had ridden the ride, people hopped over from the Single Riders line to the FP line after the FP collection/merge point. The offenders never were caught by cast members and needless to say those who actually obeyed the rules and waited for 70-120 minutes or had a fastpass were "P.O."-ed. They need to have someone monitor the stairs and bridge to prevent this from happening!

Sounds more like a mis-informed/new Cast Member who's heard about the impending "Free Dining" onslaught and thought it meant ALL reservations forever-more.
