interesting petition on Cinderella's Table

example: someone sold a cindy's PS on ebay!

example: certain websites have people who call and get numerous ressies for cindy's that they dole out to posters on that site. it's not fair for someone to get multiple ressies he doesn't intend to use, and give them out to people he likes, when others who don't post on that site can't get ressies even though they call as soon as CRT opens.

Selling them on eBay is pretty bad.

As for the other site you mentioned, as I understand it they aren't doing anything wrong and only call for a PS if someone specifically asks for it (which I guess a lot of people do).

I don't really have a problem with that myself but Disney should look for a way to deal with the issues of priority seating at Cinderella's breakfast (I hear Chef Mickey's is getting just as bad). Perhaps they could go to a system of requiring ID that matches the name on the PS but that wouldn't really help much. Requiring a credit card to hold it might work but I'm not sure why Disney should go through the hassle (on their end) and that would leave out people who don't have credit cards (or don't like to give them out over the phone). It would be nice if they would hold some tables for WDW Resort guests but again I don't think that would help much.

It is just a case of demand exceeding supply.

Actually, by reading the posts at "that" website, they routinely obtain more PS's for Cindy's than they needed. They don't always cancel the extra PS's so that other people calling WDW-DINE can have a shot at them. Instead, they often hang on to them and advertise them on their website. I feel Disney should be the only source for obtaining PS's. I have a problem with these other entities abusing the system.

Something needs to be done.

I saw someone selling fast pass tickets on E-bay yesterday for Test Track, they weren't really fast pass tickets, but apparently before fast pass was introduced they gave out a ticket which allowed you to bypass the lines and walk right on. Even though they have fast pass now, these passes are still good. They wanted $20 for 4 of them. I guess they are selling them as a collectible, as I don't know anyone who would buy these to use.

Hehe that test track thing is a bit different. But the Cinderella's PS's are another story.

They do cheat those out of a fair shot at getting the PS's because they get more than they need and then hold onto them. Not everyone uses the internet to do things.

Sorry, I didn't intend to convey that the test track passes and the Cinderella reservations were analogous. I kind of got off the subject. :animwink:

There is a travel agent who gets the reservations and then gives them out to his customers when they book through him. I hate those kind of people, make it fair for everyone!!

I booked through a travel agent who makes ressies for you. but he makes the ressies in your name. it's the same as if you made it yourself. on the other hand if he was just booking tables at random, then giving the tables to his customers, that would be the equivalent of what this other guy is doing.

I'm for the credit card being used to hold your reservation. In fact, it's what they did to me for one of my PS reservations a month ago. We held a table for 10 at Spoodles and they took my number AND told me that if I planned to cancel, it had to be done w/in 24 hours of the reservation time or they'd charge me $10.00 a head. I thought about it, asked them why they were doing this sort of thing for this particular restaurant and not for others (and I already had at least 6 other PS ressies for my party of 10 w/o this treatment).

The operator explained that Spoodles is operated a bit differently and considered my large-ish party unusual sized.

Now, I did actually make the reservation and then eventually cancelled it the day before w/ about 25 hours to spare. No charge was on my credit card, so I cannot complain a bit--well, except that I had to remember to cancel.

But if Disney Dining Reservations already has some set-up to do this sort of thing to hold a reservation, then why not require it for something that's getting out of hand like Cindy's Breakfast? That would at least make some people back off.

Also, they do tell you when you make any PS that you may be asked to show a valid ID. When we were on our vacation and got to the restaurants, they never asked us once. And we did Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast, too! To solve the E-Bay auction crap, they should require ID, make it standard policy. If someone shows up w/o proper ID, then tough crap for them.

This E-Bay stuff makes me mad. :goodnevil

I live in L.A. and experienced a similar thing last weekend when the traditional opening of the Hollywood Bowl Box Office occurred Saturday morning. Not only were there a ton of people who had to have been there since dawn (which has never happened before), but the line to get tickets took forever. It seemed as if it wasn't moving at all for the 1st 45 minutes. When I finally got up front, the people working there were shaking their heads in frustration. Apparently people/E-Bay profiteers were buying huge amounts of tickets for almost every popular show to sell on E-Bay.

Now in L.A., for whatever reason we also have legalized ticket agencies (fancy word for scalpers) who also play this game, but this heinous delay, the fact that most good seats were gone by the second hour, and the fact that the Hollywood Bowl staff were caught off guard totally ticked me off. I was told that they are going to put a maximum number of tickets per head on next year's sales (like 6 seats per show per 1 buyer). Although for some shows, I sometimes buy for my family and friends, to give us a nice outing together and it ends up being more than six people. Still, I'd rather get another body with me in line to get extra seats than have to play this game.

Something needs to be done about this E-Bay business, like forcing E-Bay to not be able to sell this kind of stuff. It's called scalping and it's supposed to be illegal. After all, if I was standing out in front of the Bowl or even in front of MK selling my seats to something popular to the highest bidder, I'd probably be arrested, or at least told to stop it, right?

If they are in fact just grabbing PS's in case someone on the site wants them (instead of specifically asking for them) then I agree with you that something should be done to stop it.

As far as I know Disney is the only place to obtain PS's. If someone else is getting you the reservation they still have to go through Disney.

Personally, using a credit card to secure the reservation is probably the best idea. Or they could tie it to your reservation number if you are a WDW Resort guest and put it on your bill if you don't show up.

I just wanted to respond to this thread and ask for your help. I am the author of the petition, and would like to clear a few things up. Currently, Howie and his angels call daily to make PS at Cinderella's Royal Table. They make as many as they can until they are gone. They do not make them as per a request. You can go to their site at any time and request a PS for Cinderella's. What you do not know is that they are starting to target other character breakfasts such as Chef Mickey's.

Do you think this what Disney envisioned, a third party controlling their entire Priority Seating system? Please sign the petition and help us change the system. All we want is that it be fair for everyone.

As a follow up, this was posted by Howie on his site this morning:

"The new WDW CRT PS cancellation policy has begun; when someone calls up to cancel a CRT PS, WDW now calls you back at the telephone number on the original PS to verify that it is actually you cancelling; you see, it seems that WDW has a big problem with anyone cancelling someones elses PS for any malicious reason; and also, it seems that WDW can change its policies real quickly when something wrong, according to them, is being done; interesting how nothing has been changed about our so-called wrongdoing as of yet ; maybe it aint all that bad after all to them ; i guess they will just have to wait for their feeble attempt at a petition to just ignore it some more ; "

Howie is laughing at us all...

obtained PS at Cindys

All I can say is, if you are persistent and do some research, and go HIGH ENOUGH up the management chain, you CAN get a reservation for Cindarellas Table.

After being shut out for 8 days in a row, using 3 separate phone lines each time, I was able to get a confirmed reservation via another means.

Sometimes to get ahead in life you have to think "outside of the box"

Hey, c'mon now.

At best what we have going on thru Howie is a grey market for PSes. And the E-Bay thing is an absolute blackmarket operation.

And you shouldn't have to have anyone pulling special favors for you OR have to go thru a Disney Executive in order to get a seating.

I'm not sure what Disney can do to combat this. What are posted as suggestions--credit card and valid ID--will help. But the problem with CRT Princess Breakfast is that there aren't enough tables available. When you call in and shockingly don't end up with a PS at 7:01am eastern time, they try tossing you off to another character breakfast, but now we're being told that other options, like Chef Mickey's, is getting the same kind of grey market treatment thanks to so-called "angels" like Howie.

First, it's time for Disney to get a clue and to do two things regarding the Princess breakfast. Number one, is to extend the character dining thing into lunch, if not all the way into dinner. It will make things a bit crazier but appease a lot more of the customers. Two, find another larger location to do another princess breakfast.
Right now they kind of have something like it going on at 1900 Park Faire, but the theming is a bit odd and off in comparison to what's being offered at the castle. My suggestion is to do the one in the castle with the older princesses and another with the more recent gals. I know my daughters would've loved to dine with Mulan, Jane, Megara, Pocahontas, and Esmerelda. They could have Belle or Ariel be the official "hostess." I bet your bottom dollar if they did this that people wouldn't gripe so much about not getting into CRT for breakfast.

Right now they are trying to draw people into 1900 Park Faire breakfast with Mary Poppins (who we saw at CRT) and with Alice--neither of which holds as much weight with my four and eight year olds as Mulan, Meg, or even Ez. Just a thought.

We found the breakfast with the "face characters" to be great fun because of the interaction. It's nice to have them talk back, answer questions and such which the fully costumed guys don't really do.

With all this weird PS booking going on, I'm actually amazed that my family even got a PS for the castle. We used three phones, two actually rang thru, one of two got a reservation, the other was told that they were booked full for the morning in question. And both calls were answered a minute apart.

I have signed the petition and I certainly hope that something is done about all this. I truly do believe that the folks at Disney are looking into this and will have something in place soon. I have read the stuff at "The Breakfast Club" and on R.A.D.P. What could have been a debate about the fairness of this practice has become nothing but a shouting match. Both sides have dug in and they are not budging. So I guess that the best route to go, if you are among the disgruntled, is to sign the petition and then I'd follow it up with a letter to Disney management. Businesses only change their policies when there is an outcry from their patrons. Just one other thought...IMHO, a complaint to a business is best when it is given with the specific complaint, your clearly thought out stand on the situation, and exactly what you would like to see done. I have seen a few of the letters (as I'm sure most of you have) that were sent to Disney on this matter and they were way over the top.

Ok...so who wants the soapbox next??

Well, my daughters are 5 & 2 and we worked very hard to get a ressie for Cindys we are going May 25-June 3rd. SO we had 10 days...several phones, several friends, etc...we also went "out of the box" to get our ressies...only because my 5 yr old and my 8 yr old niece really wanted to do this...we have never made it there before ...any of our trips..never could get through! It would be nice if Disney did set aside some priority seatings for resort guests....must present reservation numbers on phone for reservations., Esp. since resort guests are losing perks left and right...but thats a whole different post LOL! My girls do adore Mary Poppins..but thats because we watch the movie regularly and my 5 yr old & I are reading the series of MP books.

They need to return to the old system, where you had 24 hours to call from your Resort room... or in park phone to make a reservation.

It was the simplest solution, and there were very few cancelations.

Or have FAST PASS for restaurants! They can call it FAT pass.
