The original genie bottle is actually made from an old, 1964 Jim Beam decanter. The props department had it hand-painted and decorated. During the first season, the bottle was handcrafted in black and gold but when I Dream of Jeannie joined the world of color in its second season, the bottle was remodeled to glam up the show and the glamorous persona of Barbara Eden.

I suspect it is for the same reason that so many people insist on still calling DHS the Disney/MGM studios. Humans are not very receptive to change.

Can anyone besides me picture some one standing over Mr. Edison with a test tube against his mouth urging him to hurry up and die so they can capture his last breath because their arm is getting tired. I find the whole thing quite hard to believe and even more difficult to prove. Open the test tube and like magic... it's gone!
