Paul could play quite a few himself. I believe in his first solo album he played all the instrument himself. Paul even once admitted that he took piano lessons. You know that statement about not reading music has been said a number of times and although it might have been true in the beginning, when tunes would come into their head and they would figure out the chords later. The intricacy of their later works I don't believe could have been written with out a pretty extensive ability to read music. Not to mention the fact that it would practically be impossible to be successful in that business for that long without picking up a lot along the way, even if you were never officially taught about music. That would almost be Twilight Zone level of success. They might have not known all the finite points and sometimes stumbled upon them accidentally, but I'm not buying the ignorance factor that they tried to sell over the years. I have, however, bought all their albums. Even have a few first editions. Yes, I am that old!
