Interarrival times at attractions by time of day

Does anybody have any data on how the average interarrival times of guests queueing up at attractions at WDW vary with the time of day? Even if the data is theoretical or typical, or only for a given time of year or whatever. It should just be an attraction that typically has some wait time in the standby line mid-day. I'm doing some study on the topic and really don't have a good idea about how to model this, except to say that it is fewer early and late, and more in the middle.

References to textbook material on the subject would also be of interest.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think the best that you can do is to look at overall crowd levels in each park versus time of day.

Individual attractions can vary depending on
the time of the year,
is it a weekend or a holiday,
the weather (raining or not/really cold or not),
the mix of the people in the parks (sometimes ToT has no line due to all
the teenagers still being in school; however, Dumbo and the Carousel
can be crowded if it's all families with small children),
the newness of the attraction,
whether it's one that people run to when the park first opens,
whether is's one that gets fewer riders at night, like Space Ship Earth,
versus the morning,
how 'hot' the ride is, like Soar'n being full all the time,
extra magic hours or not,
is it meal time,
is there something else going on in the park, like a parade,
just plain luck and abberations in the queing flow,
etc.

There are a lot of variables in any statistical model that you try to build.
There's a branch of statistics called 'Queing Line Theory'. There should be books on it.
From my very limited experience it seems to be like black magic, however, because you have to tell it up front what the basic answers are and then it will predict if that's going to happen.

Interesting question.

You could try to contact Mark at RideMax (ridemax.com) or Len Testa who is on these boards and does statistical research for 'The Unofficial Guides'.

Thanks. I already PM'd Len at the same time I started this thread.

I didn't know about RideMax. That seems interesting. I'll look into that.

They say that they are a small, family-owned business. I can't see how they can collect enough data to beat general rules of thumb, seeing as how wait times have so many variables. Seems like a good idea for a program anyway.

Thanks.

regarding ride max

we havent been to WDW yet but we did the RideMax program for DL this year we went during spring break (yea i know i must be crazy) but really using that program we did both parks TWICE all the rides and the shows in 3 days and stood in no line for more than 10 minutes

definately worth checking out

plus they had all kind of extra "helps" that made our trip waaay more enjoyable
