Insider info on nemo ride

Very interesting rumors...

However, if it is true that this "source" gave the OP this information, I think its wrong to cast the spotlight on who they (the source) are and where they work...

Just some thoughts...

I actually heard that the ride vehicle was going to be more in the shape of a scallop and not a clam....but my source is not as reputable as the one specifically pointed out above.... :lookaroun

I personally think conch shells would be prettier. Maybe a nice sand dollar with some sea glass accents?

Care to name your source? Because I'm not believing anything not stated by the Disney company themselves.

pssshtt...by then they'll probably be 80% done with interior construction and there'll be myriads of pictures leaked out.

Some spoilers in this post

I have a very reputable source that has given me some info on the new nemo ride in the living seas. The nemo ride will have vehicles more in the style of doombuggies than the seacabs except the new vehicles will resemble clams, the reason for the doom buggy reference is becasue that is how they will open and close. I am not sure at this time wther the ride will be a continuosly loading, which is what i feel it will be, one or not but it will definantly hava substantial amount of ride vehicles in operation at all times. The ride will also follow through diferent reefs and such like the secabs did through underwater glass tubes. The ride path also seems to curve alot more than the seacabs path did so it might mean new tunnels. One thing i noticed though is that for any construction of this ride to happen or work on the reefs around the ride, as mentioned in other threads, will have to be done underwater because of the fact that there is no way to drain just one part of the living seas. In actuallity though i recently found out that if the structure of part of the building became somehow compramised and could flood the building there is a way top drain the living seas into a reservoir out side the building somewhere, just a quiz fact.
Hey thanks for the info... sounds cool anything would be good at this point

First of all I'd like to say that I hope this rumor is true.

Secondly, I won't doubt anyones sources until they are proven wrong.
I may find some things hard to believe, but I won't call anyone a liar.

And finally, everything in this rumor seems to me, to be VERY doable, so even if it's NOT true, it sure makes it fun to think about. :)

Well, nothing in this rumor doesn't make sense. It all seems plausable (we've had a lot more far-fetched rumors on here). I'm going to cautiously accept it for now, though I'm very, very sad that the Seabase Alpha theming will probably be going.

I'm a little surprised that the OP didn't have to sign a non-disclosure agreement or something like that before touring WDI, though.

I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SO STRONGLY DOUBT RUMOURS. This is the rumours sections, take it for what they are worth. You want offical annoucements from the Disney Company? Then go to www.disney.com. If you dont like the essence of the rumour section then stay out.

AMEN BROTHER (or sister)!!!

I hope the rumor is true, it sounds great to me. I always bypass the movie - and the hydrolators seem tedious. A potential Nemo ride would not be the end of Sea Base Alpha. Let's face it, The Living Seas in it's present state is nothing even vaguely similar to a true working sea base. Computerized turtles? Fiberglass sharks? Neon painted coral reefs? And what are those manatees doing so deep and so far out in the ocean?

So are these the same ride vehicles that are going to be used for the Harry Potter ride at MGM ?

Not to sound pesomistic, these all seem like very realistic and possible changes except the refurb down time seems awful short to complete such radical changes. Look at the downtime involved with AE to Stitch, and that was a very simple change in comparison.

If this rumor ends up to be fact I would be thriled. Maybe not to see the seabase alpha theme going because I really don't want to see nemo take over, but with the old changeing to new alll over I would except the change with an open mind as long as they don't screw this up like they did with SGE.

I hope that this rumor is true, though I'm not holding my breath or losing sleep over it. I try to take things with a grain of salt. This does sound very doable and I miss the sea cabs. My only complaint with them was that they seemed like too short of a ride. If this rumor comes true, then that problem would be solved.

For the most part, I've always been against any updates or remodels at EPCOT because as past experience has shown, they're rarely improvements. However, in this case, any improvement to The Living Seas is welcome. It has always been last on my to-do list at EPCOT, and now that the all-too-brief ride portion is gone, what is the point? If "Finding Nemo" can save The Living Seas from its current status, I'm all for it. Look at how Simba and friends helped "Symbiosis" become entertaining. These are the kinds of rumors I want to hear more of! But please no more rumors about Spaceship Earth!

I think this rumor sounds very plausible. Some of you guys really have to remember that this is the news AND rumors section. Anything posted here may or may not come into being. Also, the OP admitted that it was just a concept he had seen for the new ride.

I really like the idea. I was really upset when they closed off the seacabs. They were the best part of the pavillion, and they offered the best views of the sea life.

Another Living Seas question... instead of starting a new thread:
Is it just me, or have the tanks in the Living Seas become less and less populated with fish and various decoration? It seems like there isn't hardly anything in some of the tanks, and I can remember going in there as a kid just after it opening and seeing TONS of fish and other coral reefs and decorations.

About the length of the rehab...

Just putting in new vehicles or simply turning the ride on wouldn't take too long. What if they also reopen the closed pre-show theater and introduce a new film? Along the way, new Nemo-fied signange for the whole observation area.

None of these things would take very long.

How long did Imagination version 2.5 take? I don't recall it being very long - and the Seas technically has less space to deal with. 4-5 months to entirely remove a fountain, install a new food court, and repaint everything inside the Land and the exterior too, which is again a larger space.

When Disney wants to, they can move quickly. 3 months prior to Epcot's opening the support legs of Spaceship Earth were exposed wire framing. 3 months is time to make some major changes - more than just carpet. Carpet/flooring (the only other rumor floating around) takes textile services and set dressing maybe a day or two, working only at night, max.

I was thinking the same thing recently. I think the lighting over the tanks needs to be redone. I swear the fish were more colorful before - and obviously the coral was too, as it and the tunnels for the ride have suffered major bleaching over time. But back to the fish - there are tons. Go in at 10am when they do the feeding and you'll suddenly see more than you'd image could fit in the tank.

I really think they originally used lighting that showcased the fishes colors better - right now everything is "too blue" and washed out, so you cant really see the fish. The difference between the lighting coming from above, like in a home aquarium.

But the faux coral and props inside the tanks have obviously faded - even the orange paint around the observation windows is barely visible.
