Insane Cheetah Men on Powered Stilts at Pleasure Island

Has anyone else seen these guys? One of the nights I was there there was a pair of men in red fright wigs and yellow spotted foam muscle body suits screaming and bouncing around on powered stilts right before midnight at Pleasure Island. The machines made them about eight feet tall and let them run and jump with much more power than a normal. Has anyone else seen these creatures or know where there's a pic of them on the 'net?

....better yet, does anyone know where I can get my hands on that kind of hardware?

I haven't seen the cheetah men but from what you describe, those sound like Powerskips. They have a spring in them that allow the stiltwalker to jump and "skip" around. I'm a stiltwalker at WDW, but I've never been on these. They look like a lot of fun, though. For more information you can go here.

Yeah, this looks like the right equipment. I wonder what the top speed in those things are. The two guys I saw using them looked to be pretty stable and proficient, and could do all kinds of acrobatics like synchronized flips 12 feet in the air. Impressive, to say the least, especially considering that they were doing all this right in the middle of a drunken, moving crowd.

Funny you should mention that you're a stiltwalker. The other time I went to Pleasure Island two weeks ago there was a pair of female stiltwalkers cruising up and down the strip. They were dressed like aliens... or something. Lots of blue and pope hats.

I saw them when I was there between August 23 and 31st...The first night I saw them I was like ? Cause at first they just look like thier on stilts (just shorter than most stilt walkers) and dressed up differently, then they started bouncing and stuff. It was funny cause as you said their in like foam muscle suits so their bouncing around acting all cocky, it was funny.

One of the guys kept dancing and some girl in the crowd came out and would try to do better and the other one ws off to the side basically without using words, just body language telling him "You gonna let her get away with that" So he'd go back out and try to do more, so she came back out again. They'd also just sneak up behind people taknig photos and try to get in it, or take someones hat and skip all the way up the street waving it. One of them took someonelses disposable camera and tok a picture of some random person before waving it WAY above their own head telling the person to take it back.

And those pics are definitly the correct equipment, one night i took a pic of just the botom of the legs to try and figure out how it worked, but they've nicely covered over most of the actual equipment withh the costume. BUt its amazing waht they can do with that, skip, jump and flip and stuff. I di however notice they cant seem to stand totally still, they had to keep switching their weight from one leg to another.

I know I have a pic around here somewhere, lemme try and find it and I'll pot it.

Still can't see, click on, or download the pictures.
WDWMAGIC never lets you directly show a picture in these forums. It doesn't matter what kind of tag you use with it. It's their policy, even though UBB definitely supports the function. I go to several other forums that use the same software and only here is it blocked. Dunno why.
I've used imageshack on these pages before and it works fine, you just have to click to see the image.

For example:

Nevermind, it was my browser malfunctioning. Internet Explorer is being naughty.

Firefox is the way to go!
Great, pictures, by the way. That's definitely them.

I would imagine they would slow you down a bit because of how heavy they probably are. Though, your strides are longer so you can cover more ground. As for the female stilt walkers you saw at PI...WDW doesn't use their own stilt walkers for stuff like that. They are contracted out and probably make more for a couple hours than Disney's own stiltwalkers in the parades! Kinda like DeVine at AK is contracted out.

Contracted stilt wallkers? I guess it wasn't you I met then. One of them was pretty cute...

Reading on some different sites I read one particular kind of powered stilt, (not the powerskip, though) uses stronger coiled springs rather than springsteel bars, and the australian guy who invented it was once clocked at 31mph.
