Inferno Barge not working for ROE 5/29

Hey all,

I just returned from Epcot, and during Illuminations, the Inferno barge was not working. I remember that this week last year it was not working either. Does anyone know if it is out for repair, or was it just a problem with the show tonight.

One note, I actually like not having the inferno. Don't get me wrong, fire is cool, but the lasers seemed much brighter without the light of the inferno.

The Inferno Barge was not working on May 21st, either, but it was working May 22nd and 23rd. Just last minute glitches.

The two small barges in front of Canada were not working properly either.

Same issues last Tuesday, too!

Saw one of the maint boats go FLYING out there between opening sequence and when the globe starts to move.

They were out there almost the entire set, before the next set of launches...and were able to fix nothing.

Which wasn't all that bad, except for the MASSIVE amount of Saratoga Springs guests they were schmoozing over for a special little after hours get together with special seating!

My guess is, that was the last thing they wanted to see happen when you bring in a large amount of potential customers and then...*burp*...a less-then-average show.

Reminds me of the old days before Illum 2000 and the new hardware. With the old show they were out there fixing stuff everynight. Sounds like RoE needs a good rehab.

Has there ever been a rehab of the barges? If so, when? Or how many, if any, "official" rehabs has there been?

There have been partial rehabs of various barges for Illum 2000. There has never been a complete downtime rehab though.

I am sure the Illum boys and girls have it under control, and things will be back running perfectly soon enough. :)

How large are the barges? I mean, it's hard to tell about scale from the entrance side of the lagoon. And to be honest, during the day, we've never really thought to take a look at them from any closer proximity, like the far side of the lagoon.

And are they constructed in such a way that not much maintenance is needed?

A barge is a barge. What is probably needing the work is the communication equipment between the various computers on shore and the devices on the barge that control the launching.

Most of the launch control hardware is on each actual barge, with time code sent from on shore locations. They have air conditioned cases on the barges that house all of the electronics and computing hardware.

Just a note on an above post I made. When I said some barges have had rehabs, I meant the entire barge (including the launch hardware etc). :)

One more thing, for the last two weeks or so, it has seemed like the show is about 1-2 seconds off from the music. Either the show is actually slightly off, or I am getting use to the better timing used on Wishes.

Anyone else notice this?

LOL blimey! Its getting worse by the minute. If they are drifting off, sounds like they are in desperate need of a rehab.

I have always thought Illum to be the ultimate in terms of syncronisation, and better in that regard than Wishes. To me Illum is a very clean, clinical execution of pyro, and I have never seen better. Hope they get it fixed ASAP.

Me too....and Me too.

The show was really not great over the last 2 weeks. Last week, the white flares at the end of "We go on" were about 2 seconds late (doesn't sound like a lot of time, but it really throws the show off) and last night, the large shells at the big fortissmo moment were about 2 seconds late, and each of the 3 shells exploded about 1/2 second from the next, so it was kind of anti-climatic. Also, I always thought the used large willow style shells here, but last night, I noticed smaller standard crysanthymum shells.
