Indiana Jones Height Requirement

So I know that Indiana Jones and Dinosaur are exact clones of each other, but was wondering why such a difference in height requirement?!? Dinosaur has always been 40", even back when the ride was "more intense" when it first opened. However, why is Indiana Jones 46"??? I can't understand why the exact same ride would have such a big height difference?

Back when dinosaur first opened it was more intense on par with Indy, but was essentially put in a B mode to make it less intense. It has always held a 40" height requirement. I just am trying to wrap my head around why such a difference when the ride system and vehicles and blooms of the ride are essentially the same?

It's not like DL SM and WDW SM where they are completely different rides so the height difference is more than understandable...it just seems odd to me?

CTX did open at 46" and was dropped to 40" when it was reworked to be less aggressive. Here is the news from the time http://m.wdwmagic.com/attractions/dinosaur/news/24jan2004-ctx-motion-downgrades.htm
Thanks for the info! I really want to go to DL, haven't been myself since I was 5, but with the bigger height requirements I will have to wait another year or 2 until both my boys r big enough for more rides.

I couldn't take them and tell my 5 year old no Indy, or my 2 year old no cars ride! LOL...

I've never experienced Dinosaur, but Indy is very bumpy with sharp turns and a drop at the end. Anything like that with Dinosaur?
I've never done Indy, lol! Dinosaur is, IMO, the most herby-jerky ride in all of WDW. If I were advising someone who had a bad back, Dinosaur is the first ride I'd tell them to avoid.

It looks like Indy is bumpier/jerkier, given the different height requirements between the two. I guess I'd advise someone with a bad back to refrain from riding Indy. That and most definitely Matterhorn.
