Inclining by Degrees?

Yes, yes, yes. All of these things have needed doing for a long time now.

My point was, they are starting to be done. Inclining BY DEGREES. Little . . . by little . . . . by little . . . .

I wonder, at what point would all you folks who say things like "about time", "just what should be done", "that isn't impressive', etc. would actually say, "you know, I think they're finally getting it--it looks like they're coming around"?

When, what would you need to see, and at what point would you go "hmm, yes, it looks like things are a bit better".

From what I see, the answer might be "never".

Im sorry you aren't getting the responses you are looking for. Everyone has said YES these were long awaited events. Yes, they are welcome changes. But just because they're doing these things doesn't automatically erase everything on the board. There is alot more than needs to be addressed. Does that mean no one's satisfied? NO. We are within our rights to discuss what could be done next or for better enhancement. No one has said "that isn't impressive" or "this is all pointless." Everyone is saying "Finally! Now lets see some more!" Also, everyone is well within their rights to raise the questions on The Company's motives and current direction for the future. Disney is heading down a path of Profit over Quality.

If your OP was just to hear certain statements, then please clearly state your requests so those that chose to respond can respond the way you feel is appropriate.

WDWfqntflyer--You're misreading me. I have no interest in getting a certain type of statement--I've enjoyed reading all here, and think you have good points, too. If it sounds like I'm shooting people down, I don't mean to. Hey, in life, there are always going to be "glass half full" people and "glass half empty" people.

It's all good. We're all here because we love the parks and want to see them at their best.

When I asked my question, is it possible we're inclining, I knew that some people's answer would be "no". Heck, I'm not sure my answer is "yes"--but when I look over the past year, it's hopeful. We'll all have to watch the curve.

It's like watching a stock. Up a little some days, down a little on others--and then, over a long period of time, a trend emerges. Here's hoping this is an upward one, and not a blip.

I was sincere in asking some of the glass half empty folks at what point they'd step back and say "hey, ya know what, it IS getting better, little by little".
That wasn't a snide remark, I was just wonderin'.

Cheers!

It is getting better - I myself said how good the MK as a park was looking - but it is still only getting back to the level it once was at. Once it passes that level then maybe things will be better, until then it is still playing catch up.

I just want my "car smashing into wall" effect from Test Track back
I just want WoM

I mean, Disney has done some great things for WDW (I for one prefer TSwNaF over TLS), but with the good comes the bad (Narnia) and the ugly (E:E Yeti not fixed)...still have to appreciate it for what it is, though. They're going up back to the quality they had, and hopefully they can keep it.

Agreed with this.

For example--going back in February. Wondering if they've cleaned up the walls in the Buzz Lightyear queue. Little things like that tick me off.

It ain't there yet. But better.

Half full vs. Half empty...

I am the "what was the previous state prior to this current condition" person. Did someone take a drink or just turned off the faucet. In the case of corporate Disney, they've been ignoring the leak at the bottom of the glass. At one point, it was full. Now, it's half empty. Instead of patching the hole, they are adding more water on top. Now, is that a bad thing? No. It fills the glass. But, if the repairs aren't made, the water will just leak back out. On top of that, they are saying, "Hey, let's add some crystal light and make it more appealing! People will spend more money on flavored water!" Meanwhile, us consumers are still getting a cracked glass.

Does this make any sense? :p:hammer:

I have visited dozens of times since the early '90's and I honestly think things are way better now than ever, and getting even better. There are more thrill rides to go with the awesome family rides. I love the new resorts, restaurants, and DVC.

I have noticed some maintenance issues, but I think they are getting better and were never as bad as some have made them out to be.

I do think it is funny that while some people complain about an old parade, I read post after post lamenting anything and everything that has been removed. This really seems a can't win situation for the parks.

I just love every visit more than the last, and I find something new and wonderful each time.

In reference to the quote below, I would say you're not looking very hard if you find the quick service restaurants to be lacking in variety or serve the "same old food". That's by the numbers simply a false statement.

Here are some of my favorites at CS restaurant dishes currently available, just to name a few:

Tofu Noodle Bowl
Monolian Beef
Chicken Curry (good addition to the Comissary at the Studios)
Greek Salad
Rotisserie Chicken
Grilled Salmon
Sukiyaki Beef
BBQ Ribs
Pulled Pork
Seared Tuna (great grade of Tuna)
Rotisserie Pork Chop
Honey Chicken
Kung Pao Beef
New Fry and chip topped combinations
Fairfax Salad (YUM!!!)
Tuscan Deli Sandwich
Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
Thai Chicken
Sweet and Sour Chicken

So if you're eating the same tired theme-park faire (read: Burgers, Fries, Pizza), I would have to say that's of your own choosing. That list doesn't even come close to hitting everything that's avaible, but some of the options that I've had recently that I enjoy. ]

I'm eating quick service in the parks usually twice a week, so I'm all about finding new and exciting dishes, and I can assure you this is one area that WDW is NOT lacking.

It is still a mixed bag. Yes, the new additions have been definitely Disney quality. But yet they still keep dropping other things, and lowering quality in other areas.
If nothing else, CS food is by far and large completely homogenized. Anything that had variety, got closed for most of the year, and seems to serve the same old food when it is open. How often can one eat the same meals? Years ago I would bring 4 pages worth of menus, back and front, to browse when we started to get hungry to decide where to eat, and now it fits on a single page front only. Figaro fries? Gone. Tommorowland Noodle Terrace asian food? Gone.
And entertainment needs a kick in the but/increase in funds. The same parade for how many years running? And still with the castle float? The stage in Tommorowland? Shows in DHS are still well executed, but 10+ years of doing the same show? The stage show used to switch out every year or two.
I agree that almost every project in the last year or two shows real promise. But they still have a way to go to bring existing areas up to par.

As many of you know, I am a civil engineer that has work in maintenance of facilities all my life (34 years of professional service). I have over the years look at Disney as the benchmark for my type of work. You would walk anywhere in WDW and never see a maintenance problem. I remember a few years back my wife and I where walking in the Magic Kingdom at night. I start a little game with her to try and find a light that was not working. It took us over an hour to find one blub that was not burnig. We returned the next night just to see if it was still out and it had been replaced that day. This year when at WDW it did not take but a minute to see maintenance problems everywhere in all the parks. The outstanding level of service that you once found at every Disney Park is what made them a step above every other resort. If Disney does not start taking care of what it has, adding more to the parks will not help the overall problem at all. I love WDW; I just wish management would once again start caring.

Well said...this is exactly what I believe too.

Well I'm a "glass is half full" kinda a guy so yes, I too believe that little by little, WDW is on the up and up...
I'm glad they are making improvements, but until I stop having multiple things not working right on every attraction, I'm still gonna think they have some work to do.

Exactly. Maybe we are nitpicky, but if you pay attention, you will notice things like this on every. single. ride.

It never used to be like that.
