In your opinion which rides need a semi makeover, re-Carousel of Progress...

At 43 minutes into the video Imagineer Tony Baxter talks about the CoP when it was at Disneyland as well as showing a very brief clip of the escalator that took you upstairs to see the Progress City model.

It's sad because the model was massive and they cut it down to only the city center (with the hotel tower in the middle of the city) and that's all that survives from the original model and sits inside the display case on the Peoplemover.

Neat!
Looks like their carousel revolves the opposite way of the WDW version as well.
That's right! The show was presented in clockwise motion at the World's Fair and at Disneyland, but for some reason when it came to florida all the scenes were rearranged in the opposite direction and the show has been presented counter clockwise ever since it opened at WDW in 1975.

COP needs a refurb but just the last scene. I don't mind the idea that they bump up the years a bit. I like the 1900 version but maybe make it every 40 years rather than 20. That means you have a time in the 1900s, 1940s, 1980s and present day. It would be much more relevant and to be honest they could keep it that way for another 30-40 years (obviously updating the last scene). Wouldn't it be neat to hear John talking about how there are these new things called "Cassettes" for music and how it can get any better than this?

That's what Horizons was for and look what happened to that.

I think the Streets of America really have no relevance anymore except to hold the Osborne Lights. There's a lot of times we don't even walk down them because once you've seen them, well you've seen them.

My vote would have to go to the Carousel of Progress. I don't hate it but I have been riding it since it first premiered at Disneyland (yes, i'm that old) and it has had little change. Mainly it's the last section. Does it look like the future or even the present? Yeah, maybe if it was still the 1980's. WDW should really contact some cutting edge companies and wow us with state of the art technology. I would love to leave that ride with the feeling of "can't wait to get that in my house" and not be thinking "been there, done that".

Other rides that can use a face lift?
Don't feel bad about you being 'old'. We saw the G.E. Carousel of Progress at the 64-65 N.Y. World's Fair!
(Along with Pepsi Colas Its a Small World, Illinois State Pavilions Mr. Lincoln, and assorted cave men & dinosaur animatronics at the Ford Motor pavilion).... Time sure does fly by...

I get the feeling that Walt was left handed, so it went to the left. When they rebuilt it Florida they decided to go with the natural right handed direction.

Thanks for your post, I don't fell that old now. I do remember as a very young child going to the "house of the future" at Disneyland, it was near the entrance of Tomorrowland. Also the pack mule ride with real live donkeys.

Buzz Lightyear. After going on the Toy Story Midway Mania ride, Buzz is boring.

I wouldn't necessarily call it boring (spinning the car around is fun), but the gun/ aiming/ targeting system needs work. Maybe make the laser brighter or add a scope or something.

We rode mules and went on stagecoach rides at Freedom Land USA (back in the day).... But, that's a whole other story with Disney connections.

Jungle Cruise. With Animal Kingdom offering REAL animals in their safari ride, I believe JC needs something more than just cheesy jokes to separate itself. Give it something like the grand finale scene in Hong Kong's Cruise.

A semi make over would be a good start. Right through the front door.

If they update the Carousel's last part, they'd have to change it every other month to keep up with current technology trends. It'd be kinda cool to have an "ever changing carousel" but a nightmare for the imagineers and staff.

....That's too much upkeep. Love to see it but, that'd be to much work. Also we don't get much new technology THAT often,if anything maybe every year.

I agree, a upgrade for the gun/shooting system would be nice. It would be awesome with the same system as TSMM.
