Cute town - How did you hear about this place?
The birthplace I'd been wanting to see for years, but never got around to making a trip up that way. The downtown district of Hodgenville was just stumbled on, as it sits a few miles between the birthplace & boyhood home.

Now I need to go back to the Davy Crockett birthplace which is about an hour from where I'm sitting. It too is a nice little piece of history (but unlike the popular song, Davy was not born on a mountaintop in Tennessee, though that does sound more catchy).

Sure - destroy my childhood memories why don't you?

Awesome trip report! Thanks for sharing
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

I don't think he "killed him a bear when he was only three" either. ;)
Depends on how big the bear was.

I do need to go back there soon (Crockett Birthplace) & do a photo report. It really is a beautiful property, with nice farmland, a creek running by, and the Smoky Mtns off in the distance. The historic Crockett tavern isn't far from the birthplace either. Maybe this Autumn when the leaves are changing & the weather is nice.
