In an alternate universe where Soarin' opened in tomorrowland, would people still like it?

Would have people cared about this thematic fit?

Indeed, it was nobly intended. However, when I think of "real issues" most of what comes to mind isn't appropriately dealt with in a theme park.

Fair enough, I wasn't suggesting some grand political statement here though. More plants and a Wall-E ride would do the trick!

I've always thought a Wall-E ride would be good too. But then I think what would it entail. Is it a cautionary type ride where if we don't change our ways this is how we'll end up? If so wouldn't that be too preachy for a theme park, especially a Disney one? That was one of the major complaints critics had about the film, it was too preachy for some.

Which is also why the TomorrowLand movie which had great visuals wouldn't make for a good overlay onto TL itself, the movie was too preachy for some.

Just a note, I liked both movies.

I don't really care for Soarin's theming as it is. I heard rumors that the attraction had much loftier goals, but was stripped down to an exposed ride system and a giant blank screen/loading area with classic DCA cutbacks. It feels like a prototype, not a Disney attraction

I feel that's part of the reason why epcot is getting an overhaul.
Only part though, the rest being boringness.

To the 21 people who said yes they would have cared about the thematic fit, please share your thoughts. I like listening to both sides.

As far as I know, the skylight in the museum like hallway you first enter was supposed to have the planes mentioned in the plaques on the wall fly overhead occasionally. There is much talk of the transitions in the current Soarin', however, for the California version it was originally intended that you would fly into a cloud bank to enter each new scene.
