Impromtu Commitment Ceremony

I would appreciate it if anyone here could tell me about any experiences doing a quicky wedding/commitment ceremony at WDW. I want basically to have a minister, us, and maybe a group of 20 others at most. Most likely the group will be less than 6. This can be a very quick ceremony, it will be done in casual clothes, it should be done at WDW in MK or AK if possible.

Basically, I want to gather our group somewhere pretty, do the vow thing, and move on. LOL Neither of us is into the big wedding thing, especially since lesbians have no legal rights to marriage in Georgia or Florida. :brick: Make it legal and honey, we will raise the roof! :sohappy: We have been engaged for almost 4 years now, but my partner surprised me with wedding bands last night. I would love to arrange this as a special part of our December vacation.

Anyone ever do any sort of quicky ceremony at WDW?

CONGRATULATIONS, MickeySaver!

I don't have any experience with what you're talking about, but someone on the www.gayday.com discussion board was asking about what he and his partner could do ceremony-wise at WDW during GayDays and was given a lot of feedback. (and being single myself, I didn't read much of it, sorry!)

Anyway that might be a good place to start looking.

Once again, Congratulations to you and your partner!

Thanks Rob! We have a friend in FL that is a Reverend that offered to do the ceremony years ago. I am waiting to hear back from her to know if she would be willing to come to WDW for the day to do this for us. I'm kind of in shocked mode. I had a really good handle on our December WDW vacation plans until last night. OMG! I'm very excited. But, this vacation just got a whole lot more complicated. Like planning MVMCP and CP dinner packages and seeing LOTR3 wasn't enough to work out. lol But, if we are going to do a ceremony, even a quickie one, WDW would be the perfect place to do it. We are both Disney nuts.

Anyway, thanks again for the heads up about the Gay Days boards. Mickey

PS. Did I mention that almost 4 years ago had I not proposed to Gabby first, she had plans the same week to propose to me at MK?

One suggestion that I will make is having the ceremony on the Beach at the Polynesian. It's very romantic at night with the tiki torches lit. You also have the Castle in the background. My hubby and I were going to get remarried at disney, but to go through them it was way too expensive. Your best bet is to get your friend to do it for you.

Congratulations!

If you have enough money, Disney will do almost ANYTHING.

The Beach at the Poly is an EXCELLENT idea. Great photo op too!

I'm glad someone has asked about this. Its something that I would love to do - have a commitment ceremony at WDW, but I wasn't sure on the laws, rules etc of the the company and the U.S.

Congratulations- I love weddings!! Wouldn't Epcot just before Illuminations be cool so when you say "I do" the fireworks start!! I know that they rent out most of the countries for events like proms, etc. and there are those areas between England and France and in front of Italy where there would be room for a reception. Good luck!! Disney can be very romantic, my husband proposed to me there!!:sohappy:

Rose Garden

I would think your group could gather in the old swan boat dock in the rose garden for a short informal ceremony. That area is rarely crowded and would provide a nice covered pavilion.
