Exactly right Pumba. All who think that not closing the gap doesn't cause congestion over the long run are seriously ill informed.
If the majority of people dismissed CMs direction to close gaps then I can assure you that empty ride vehicles would be the result. Somehow the general feeling i'm getting from this thread is that it's ok, but I would bet all of us would be upset if the majority of people were doing it and ride vehicles were going empty. That said, thankfully most people are courteous and do move as directed. We should all be thankful for that, or feel good about ourselves if we're part of the group who does care about keeping the lines moving. We're saving people time in the long run.
I personally have no problem with people stopping to tie their shoes or doing something innoucuous or infrequent. I do get upset or more precisely frustrated with individuals who continuously think that they don't have to keep the line moving. Take a quick picture, no problem, sit there and adjust every setting you have and do it multiple times in a queue, yeah that's annoying. I can't count the times that I've been stopped in a line where the fastpass comes in because the group in front wasn't keeping up with the group in front of them and so the CM stops the regular line and waves the FPs forward. That has a negative impact on my experience, sure it might only be a minute or two, but multiply that by the number of times it happened in line in front of me or over the course of a day, yeah it's a big impact. All that said, I've never gone around someone but I have politely pointed out that the line has moved.
