Impact of Credit Card Fraud Alert on Disney Reservations

Evening folks,

Just wondering if anyone out there may have any experience or knowledge here they can share with me.

I just got a fraud alert on my credit card for unapproved charges. Bank says they will cancel charges and issue me a new card.

However, every requirement for a credit card supporting my upcoming Disney Vacation in December 2018 was made using this card. If the card is cancelled and they issue me a new one, will this cause anything I guaranteed with the old card to be automatically lost or cancelled when my old card is cancelled (very concerned about ADRs that require a credit card guarantee).

This will also likely cause a major headache if I were to have any refunds from Disney because they would want to refund to the same old card number. I don't see that as likely but still a concern. I have a number of pre-paid reservations that used this card. Suppose Disney were to cancel something and try to give me a refund using a cancelled number. That is not going to work.

Certainly not wishing it on you, but any chance that anyone has had the same or similar experience or any knowledge of how this may impact my current reservations?

Thanks.

I don’t know about the refund, but I think you should be ok for ADRs. They only charge the card if you’re a no-show. I can’t imagine they put holds on every card for every ADR made at WDW. I suspect if you explain the situation for any potential refunds Disney will have a protocol to follow. You can’t be the only one this has happened to.

OP- I had this exact same thing happen to me before a Disney trip and after all of my ADRs were made. I also received a refund because I had prepaid for the Luau at the Polynesian and it was cancelled due to low temperatures. My experience was exactly as @Tuvalu describes above, seamless. I was very worried but there was no need to be.

Same thing with us, when we had to make a poisoned card vanish....

1) DO call. WDW has to deal with this sort of thing every day.
2) CHECK - even if a CM changes your card data? Be SURE the new data is correct in MDE.

Side note: As this keeps occurring thousands of times per day to CC issuers?
How long before they run out of new numbers :).

Good Afternoon Folks,

First off, many thanks to all who replied here.

Well, I finally got everything worked out with the bank IRT false credit card charges and received my new credit card yesterday afternoon. I went into MDE to delete my old card info and input the new one. I got an automatic e-mail from Disney notifying me of the change.

I called Disney today and after a couple transfers and explaining my story I was told that Disney, after an ADR is made, generally never goes back to look at the credit card used to guarantee an ADR. While there is no way to change the credit card guarantee without deleting and rebooking the ADR, I was told that it is mainly a placeholder and would only be looked at in the event of a no-show. We did go over my list of ADRs and she told me that I should be fine.

Just FYSA...there are, however, apparently some exceptions. She specifically noted Cinderella's Royal Table, for example, to where they do heavily police the reservations and may just catch something like this. In that event it would be best to rebook the reservation. But none of my ADRs fell into that "heavily policed" category. So again Disney told me that I should be fine.

As far as Disney goes and as PeakSeason said above, guess I was more worried about this than I needed to be. Thanks again to all who replied. Greatly looking forward to our December 2018 Disney vacation.
