Here are the 4 submitted ideas! Only 4 people submitted, so those who didn't are eliminated! First up, @WED99

Above is the concept art for ESPN Sports Party. I wanted to start with that to help you understand what the ride is a little better. Looking at it now, it probably makes no sense. Just a drawing by a crappy artist. Heck, you might even be thinking guests will be riding around with Basketballs. This is not the case.

ESPN Sports Party is a brand new concept, a world first! Only at ESPN Wide World of Sports! It utilises the recent technology of motion control gaming and expands on it, then adds a touch of Digital 3D for the full effect. Guests will journey into a TV set, inside the ESPN network. Here they will become the athletes in 8 different sports, competing against each other for the most points. This will involve mini games based on popular sports. Before I talk you through the ride experience, I just want to share with you the technology I developed for the ride.

Motion Control Technology
So I trust you're familiar with the Xbox Kinect? It works by projecting hundreds of tracking dots into a room, then reading their location and movement. Although it is a great system, it has it's flaws at times. So I expanded on it and ended up with The Three Step System. By using 3 technologies in 3 steps, they combine to give an accurate measurement of speed and movement. When this is combined with Sports Science data you can correctly judge performance and skill for an accurate game. So what are the 3 steps?

Step One: Thermal Tracking
When guests first enter the play rooms (as seen in concept art) they will be greeted by an athlete from that sport. In this time, their body will be tracked by thermal cameras. They will be the only heat source in the room, so the camera can read their bodies and send it to a computer which maps out location of limbs, fingers, head etc. and sends it to Step Two.

Step Two: Tracking Dots
This is where the Kinect comes into play. Tracking dots are projected from the front of the room and both sides. The computer is already aware of the guests positions so it can immediately read movements (eliminates guests having to hold hand up for detections). The tracking dots goal is to accurately read movement to use for mini games (E.g. Throwing a basketball at the right angle). This is one part of the equation needed for correct physics in the mini games. So whats the next part? Next Step....

Step Three: FPS Speed Cameras
For correct physics, the speed of movements is necessary. Tracking dots were not accurate enough for this ride, so I designed this new system using cameras. The cameras are located on top, in front and beside guests. They snap 60 FPS constantly and send everyone to the computer. The computer then uses the positioning found with heat vision to map the body. It then breaks the mapped out photo into lots of mini segments. Then it compares each photo with the next and repeats this process at insanely fast speeds. An example of this is Boxing. If someone is throwing a punch, the photo of them first starting may have their hand mapped in segment one. Then the next photo may have it in segment three, followed by segment five. The computer knows the distance of each segment so it can be calculated that the hand moved around 30 km/h. This then gets compared with the tracking dots skill readings and the computer can tell how accurately you played the mini game.

So it is a very long process that happens in a quick amount of time to deliver exact results. Guests won't feel like we're baby feeding them, they have to be accurate with their skills to win! So now you know how it works let me walk you through the ride....

Continued in next post....

ESPN Sports Party is an E-Ticket designed to bring guests to Wide World of Sports. It is to be built in this location...

Some landscaping will be necessary but worth it for the increased guest numbers.

Facade
Where every guest will begin their journey! This is where guests first enter the ESPN Network. Outside is a giant TV set topped with the words "ESPN Sports Party! Enter The Network!" As you walk through the screen of the huge TV, you enter a queue unlike any other.

Queue
Before you can enter the ESPN Network, you have to pass all the other channels first! AFter you you get your 3D Glasses you enter the first room. In the first room you are surrounded by film strips with TV show clips randomly projected onto them. Now we enter the second room. Similar with the film strips, but now only sport clips are projected. Lets guests know they're getting closer. Then you come to the end of the queue, the loading zone.

Load Zone
The theme of the second queue room carries on into the loading zone. But what exactly are we loading into?

This brand new vehicle is what is necessary to manuever through each play room. They utilise LPS positioning, similar to Pooh's Hunny Hunt Tokyo Disneyland. They have been designed to leave room for movement in mini games. As you can see in the diagram, they are moved forward and back by a large wheel and turned by 2 smaller wheels. They are surrounded with 3D sport balls for the ESPN theme. They collect power the same as the People Mover, a Bus bar (explained in diagram).

The Ride
Below is a floor plan of the entire show building.

The red area is outside landscpaing.
The orange area is 3D glasses pick up.
The Blue is the first room.
Green is the second room.
Pink is the load zone.
Then we come to the most important, the ride. I am going to talk you through each number marked on the plans.

As soon as you leave the load zone you turn a corner. This corner is projected with static and a voiceover saying "Now entering ESPN"

Scene 1 (Welcome): John Madden welcomes you into the Network. He explains how to play the mini games and about the scoring system. He says good luck and your off!
Scene 2 (Football): You are greeted by Tom Brady. He explains the mini game to you. You need to throw the ball as far as you can. Further the throw the more points you win.
Scene 3 (Boxing): Mike Tyson welcomes you to boxing. He explains the mini game. It requires you to punch the bag as many times as you can in 30 seconds. Each punch is 5 points.
Scene 4 (Basketball): Kobe Bryant hosts this game. He explains the game to you. It requires you to shoot as many baskets as you can into your moving hoop in 45 seconds.
Scene 5 (Tennis): Venus WIlliams is the host here. She explains the game. You have to control your racket and return as many balls as possible. Each ball is 10 points.
Scene 6 (Baseball): I don't follow baseball so I'm unsure who will host this. The game will require you to catch as many baseballs as you can.
Scene 7 (Soccer): David Beckham welcomes you. He explains the game. You are the goalie and have to block as many balls as you can.
Scene 8 (Beach Volleyball): Not sure who hosts this. The game is the only one which puts you against the other guest in your car. It's a rally until someone misses. Winner gets 500 points.
Scene 9 (Cheering): If your not good at sports here's your chance to catch up. Cheer as loud as you can, wave your arms, fist pump the air! Everything you do earns you points!
Scene 10 (Scores): John Madden congratulates you. He gives you both your scores and says goodbye.

You then head back to the loading zone thorugh the static. And I want to point out, when you are shifitng between play rooms, 3D animations are projected on the walls (As seen in the concept art)

So that's my ride. I know it has a few loopholes, but I feel the main idea of it is solid. So now I ask you, look at the concept art one more time...

Name: Wall-E’s Race to Clean Planet Earth
Type: Omnimover
Location: Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom Replacing Speedway.
Vehicle: Similar to Buzz but made to look like Wall-E. There are 4 people in a ride vehicle besides the normal two.
Basic: Buzz meets TSM.
Queue: When you walk in you are greeted by BNL (Buy N Large) the company that basically ran planet Earth. You walk-through various items and then reach Wall-E’s garage where you can see his collection and the little cleanup guy himself. The queue is also interactive through little scavenger hunts and with Wall-E’s TV playing movies, music, etc… You finally reach the boarding area, which is similar to Buzz.
Ride through: First you enter an info area where EVA and Wall-E explain the game and why it is important to help participate in cleaning up the Earth. You then enter a practice room where you practice cleaning up oil, garbage, paper, but also collect the good things such as plants and windmills. After that you enter the first real round, which is the BNL store. You collect bad things such as chemicals and the good things such as recycling bins. After BNL you exit and head into the street where you collect bottles and papers while also collecting windmills. Finally you head into the air where you collect more garbage and then finally WALL-E’s house where you see EVA and WALLL-E explaining how good you did. Then like all Disney rides you end in a gift shop selling various WALL-E and other Earth friendly goods.

South America at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Explore the beauty and wonder of South America, only at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Here at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we have many continents for guests to explore such as exotic Africa and adventurous Asia! But now, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be hosting a new continent all together… South America!

Experience the wonder of a small South American village as you wander the streets. Find yourself in tiny alleyways, meandering through shops and markets and even exploring the jungle that lies just beyond the village’s border!

The village will be modeled after Salento, Columbia. To enter the village guests will take a left once they enter Africa (if they are coming from Discovery Island). Guests will make their way down a small sloped pathway through a dense rainforest canopy until they come across the village itself. The village is an attraction in itself with street performers performing daily dances in the streets that are common to South America such as the Samba, Mambo and Salsa. Other street performers will play different types of live music styles that are derived from Columbia itself such as bambuco, pasillo guabina, and torbellino. These street performers will be from different parts of South America such as Columbia, Brazil, Cuba and Peru.

Street vendors will man their own separate stalls where they sell authentic street food from that region such as empanadas, arepas, different types of fruit, and of course, if you choose, your favorite Mickey Mouse ice cream bars, pretzels, popcorn that you’re familiar with!

Other than street performers, the village’s style of architecture will be that of many towns in north-western South America. The buildings are characterized with their white stucco walls and bright doorways, porches, paneling and window shutters (as you see above). Palm trees and dense canopy will be sticking up behind the village buildings, to enhance the feeling that you’re really in the middle of a South American town. In the center left of the village, you will find the brightly colored theater-styled entrance to Goofy’s Equator Escape, a 25 minute live show. To the upper right area of the village (near the end of the street) you will find the entrance to Munchu Picchu, an indoor/outdoor dining establishment with two floors of seating. Near the entrance to village, on the right hand side, you will find Callejón Goods, a canvas covered shop inbetween two buildings selling Disney merchandise and souveniers particular to the surrounding area. At the end of the street, you will find a low wall that is overgrown with large tropical trees, roots and shrubs. An old wooden sign that is overgrown with roots says “Rainforest Tours” and points to an overgrown and old archway. This is the entrance to The Forbidden Jungle, a terrifying journey through the darkest and most mysterious parts of the rainforest.

When guests walk down to the end of the street and turn left, they will find themselves enveloped in a rainforest canopy trail that leads to the Temple of the Jaguar, an animal exhibit where jaguars roam an old aztec temple. If guests take a right at the end of the street, they will find Fauna Senderos, a wildlife trail and Zipline Tours.

Goofy’s Equator Escape

This 25 minute long live action show is accesible on the left side of the main street. The building is easily recognizible as a slightly dilapitated old movie theater with fading colors. Guests enter under a large awning which shows the name of the show and the times throughout the day. A castmember will direct guests to the theater which has a capacity of about 250 people. The seats are at an incline, just as any other movie theater or stage show.

The lights dim and the show begins. The story is that Goofy is flying around the world when he has some engine trouble over South America. His plane suddenly goes down and he is engulfed in a whole new environment that he has never seen before… the rainforest. Around him are many different animals such as jaguars, sloths, falcons, snakes, etc. He has to learn to adapt to the environment to survive, and a lot of laughs are supplied along the way. The animals help him recover his aircraft and fix it up so he is able to return back to his home, Disney World.

The show uses many different types of portraying the story such as puppetry, costumes and live actors. Many different special effects are used such as smoke, lasers, fireworks, whole sets, inflatable plants and more.

Munchu Picchu

This exotic eatery is located at the end of the village. It is easily recognizable by it’s 3 outdoor eating areas, brighly colored windows and doorways, garden on the top of the roof and brightly colored balconies. The first eating area extends behind the building itself into a lush tropical area. It is a courtyard with a fountain in the center and a large collection of tables around the fountain. The second outside eating area is a large wrap around porch where guests can dine and overlook the street below them. The final outdoor eating area is on the roof, where there are palm trees, another fountain and access to the downstairs eating area and street.

Traditional South American dishes are served such as:

- Stir-Fried beef with oven friend potatoes
- Spicy Potatoes and corn with fried cheese
- Chicken stew with chili
- Bahia-style shrimp in coconut sauce
- Golden yuca and coconut cake

Reservations to Munchu Picchu may be made 3 days in advance. Call the Walt Disney World resort hotline to schedule your dining reservation.

Callejón Goods

Find yourself lost in a alleyway full of exotic goods that you would find in your typical South American market. Here you can purchase things such as a “Lupita” or “Luchador” doll, traditional wooden puppet dolls, miniature bongos, and even Mickey or Goofy in their own explorer outfits!

The small market is covered by a fading and slightly ratted canvas that is attached to both sides of the buildings. You can find what you want to buy in wooden carts and shelves on both sides of the wall. The service counter is located at the end of the alley.

The Forbidden Jungle

Guests will immediately be drawn to the mysetrious sign, low fog and old archway at the end of the street. The sign advertises an old rainforest tour company, but it becomes evident that something went horribly wrong…

Queue

Guests enter through an old arch, overgrown with weeds. The queue winds through a misty rainforest on a dirt trail before coming across what looks to be an old, abandoned wooden building. The same sign that advertises a jungle expedition is on the building. The windows are cracked, weeds and vines overtake the structure and an old vehicle lies overturned just outside the structure. Guests walk into the building and immediately placed in a deserted and abandoned tour guide station. Castmembers direct guests into the pre-show rooms themed to an old storage room where an old television will spark on and begin a chilling video of how the forest is evil and that the video was created as a warning to leave the forest immediately.

Main Ride

Riders will emerge into a dark cavw. This is where they will board their vehicles. Castmembers dressed in tattered and worn clothing will direct riders to their rows where they can pick up their glasses and board the vehicles. Once the lap bar is pulled down, the vehicle will begin moving forward into the main ride.

The ride is a chilling adventure about what happens when you’re in a place that you shouldn’t be… the Forbidden Jungle. You will encounter other-worldly creatures that want you out of their territory such as spirits, demons, creatures you’ve never seen before and more! But hurry, you need to get out quick before you become part of the jungle… permanently.

When the ride comes to it’s conclusion, guests will exit the vehicle and put their glasses in the specified bins. Guests will leave the main show building and have a short walk back through the junglle to the main path, knowing they have survived the Forbidden Jungle…

Technical Details

- The Forbidden Jungle uses the same ride system as The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
- 13 screens are used to project the terrifying 3-D images.
- Real sets are used throughout the ride also, to immerse guests even farther into the jungle.

Temple of the Jaguar

If guests come to the end of the village and decide they don’t want to to take on The Forbidden Jungle, take a left and walk down a small sloped pathway covered by a large canopy of tropical trees. At the end of their short jaunt, guests will discover Temple of the Jaguar!

Bearing a strong resemblance to ancient Aztec temples, guests can approach the temple to observe the jaguars. The jaguars will play, run and explore the temple grounds itself, offering guests a unique view only once possible in South America itself.

Guests can immerse themselves even further into the life of the jaguar by taking a pathway to inside the temple, where guests can see some of the smaller rainforest critters like tarantulas, frogs, toads and snakes while also getting different views of the jaguars themselves.

Fauna Senderos

Directly to the right of the entrance and exit to The Forbidden Jungle, guests will find Fauna Senderos, a wildlife trail that takes guests through mysterious caverns, dense jungle and even around waterfalls.

The trail itself is almost a mile long and provides many stands along the way that tell guests what animals they are looking at, their habitat, what they eat, and more!

Some of the wildlife that can be encountered are:

- 3-toed Sloth
- Spider Monkey
- Toucan
- Macaw
- Orangutan
- Giant Anteater

Zipline Tours

Located just next to entrance of Fauna Senderos, guests will find the queue of Zipline Tours, a soaring 4 person car suspended below a track that lets guests fly above the Fauna Senderos Wildlife trail.

Guests will move a gentle pace as they rock back and forth above waterfalls, trees, and of course, wildlife. On the Zipline Tours, guests can get a real different view of what they would see if they walked the regular trail and a fun, relaxing ride at the same time!Using the same technology as Pteranodon Flyers, guests will board their own “Zipline cart” that seats 4 people (2 rows, 2 seats per row). Unlike Pteranodon Flyers at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, any guest of any age or size can experience Zipline Tours!

Only at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will you be able to have the experience of walking through an authentic Colombian village, brave a dark and mysterious jungle, walk amongst the jaguars and soar above the rainforest!

The possibilites are endless at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

And last, but not least, @ctxak98
So my idea for the imagineering contest is a whole land devoted to some of the world most popular games. The land would consist of a few different things to do. One is a clue ride, a chutes and ladders playground, a monopoly resteraunt, and a candyland ride.

Clue:uncover the mystery- the ride would use the same technology as Mystic Manor coming to hongkong. The ride facade would be the clue mansion and the ride itself will be an interactive hunt to see who the killer was and in what room and with what object. Each ride is different and your ride is determined by what you guess. Each person per vehicle will get oversized magnefying glasses that scan the room and show what your seeing on the screen on your car. Once you detect something and the show scene happens you move onto the next room. The speed of the attraction is faster then say cat in the hat at universal but slower than dinosaur or indiana jones. The queue takes place in the garden and parking garage leading up to the mansion and you load at the main hallway. The ride can take you through all the rooms including the ballroom, library, conservatory, billiard room, kitchen, lounge and many more. At the end of the ride your vehicle shows you what you all detected in each room and what each person said. Some roo@s diidnt have anything to show you so from what you detected you get one guess to solve the mystery. Its a hard game to get right but in the end it will show you who did it. Remember each ride is different

The Candyland ride is a boat ride through the candyland world. The story would be trying to get through the land and meeting all the characters along the way with the licorice guy being the evil villain. On drop included in the ride(pirates type ride)

Chutes and ladders play area is pretty straight forward its a giant uniquely built mish mosh of slides and ladders for kids to play in.

The Monopoly Resteraunt- this resteraunt is all about spending money! Haha jk but it made sense. The resteraunt would have different sectioned off areas like by color. So you could sit in the green or red or dark blue section if so decided but the whole resteraunt is shaped like the game board. And the center is where you get your food. And there are huge playing pieces along the path and some houses and hotels. During each hour one person will sit on a selected seat(done through technology somehow) which is the jackpot seat and they get a free meal!.

Well there's my grand idea. I thought it would be cool so I decided to run with it. Also this area would be at disney california adventures. Sorry if its supposed to be at disneyworld but I was confused a little on official rules. Thanks!

My first thoughts about this is how far you push the envelope with the technology! Every idea of yours pretty much has a ground breaking technology, but I have one thing about the technology: with the kinect, it isn't that consistent. I won't take points off, but I personally think that if it were to happen in real life, it would be a different technology. Lots of times on my kinect, it doesn't pick up my body and I feel like it was almost a waste of money. But no problem about that, lets move on: The queue is superb, and I love the idea of passing through the other channels! Now, about the ride. Using John Madden as the host may not be the best choice. He isn't really afflicted with ESPN, so maybe you could have an anchor from SportsCenter like Stan Verett or John Gruden. The cheering part is a good idea, by the way! Also, maybe you could have a bunch of different players for each sport and have it change every time so it has even more re-ride ability. Overall, I must say this is a marvelous proposal.

@TDF Wall-E’s Race to Clean Planet Earth
First, I like and always have enjoyed the idea of a walle ride in tomorrowland. But what I don't get is why you would want to have a ride just like buzz replacing the speedway… why wouldn't you just retheme buzz to be walle themed? I do like the queue of your ride. The ride to me is kind of confusing. Is there only 3 scenes in the real ride? Or is it just the general ideas of the shooting scenes? Also, if the name of the ride is about picking up bad stuff, why would you pick up windmills? I don't like the idea of a walle shaped vehicle. If he is in the ride, why are you riding him? Overall an ok proposal, but it could have been great if you explained some things more.

I agree… I was just thinking Disney can use more interactive rides for their guests. Also I think this can educate them on helping the environment. I didn’t like the ride details but really couldn’t think anything else up. Thanks for the criticism. I will take it into consideration!

Thanks Matt, I'm not into team sports that much. Never really played well with others :P so I just said athletes I knew from memory.

About the Kinect part, I think you were a tad unfair. Half of my proposal was explaining the new technology for the ride, INSPIRED by kinect. The point was to make it reliable. I think you might want to read over again and maybe re-critique.

Other than that, thanks!

@BryceM South America
Yours was very creative and great! I love the idea for South America! The village is very neat and I would like to spend time there watching the street performers. The goofy show is very cute and fun! What would the queue be like/ waiting room? Munchu picchu… I love the name and the food sounds very good! The queue for the jungle ride is mysterious and cool! The ride, though, I think could use a different system. The Spider-Man system is fine, but I think it would work even better with a hybrid of that and the emv system! But it is still good! The idea of demons and spirits along with animals are cool and nice additions! The animal areas where you see animals are very nicely themed and sound fun! I think the zip line ride is a good idea, but it is probably very low capacity and would have very long waits. Maybe you could try to do a different type of system. Overall, a great themed land and would love to hear more about this land!

Please, elaborate :)
Well, it could have scenes like Spider-Man's but have more dinosaur elements, an example is having you pass through the jungle in an emv and then have you get to a screen where it turns into a Spider-Man vehicle!

So not so much the vehicle, but the sequences in the ride? Like you move through completely real seats then encounter a live/screen sequence. Is that what you meant?
