The 12 Days Of Christmas

https:///wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sdhvbljh5b67-624x351-1.jpg

After taking a break from larger Imagineering projects for a while I decided to step back into the ring with 12 different projects spread across the 12 days, and every single project will be tied into the holidays making this Imagineering 12 Days of Christmas! Every day a new project will be posted here rather it be a small offering to something as large as say a new land. Each project will contain a holiday clue to what the next day's project is going to be, and all are welcome to guess what could be next! So from now until Decemeber 21st, the 12 Days of Christmas begins! Get ready for the merriest of Imagineering threads as we embark on the most jolliest of park celebrations!

To navigate these twelve days of Christmas an advent calendar will be present on this post to help navigate to every new day, and every single project. In fact the advent calendar already has its first gift ready, a redone Kalikimaka Tiki Room which was featured in March Mania Season 2, but lost in Round 4 while reaching elite eight status. This redo provides a guideline for some of the holiday touches that newer projects aim to achieve this year. To use the advent calendar just click on a day that has been revealed, and with Christmas magic and technology voila you're transported!

The Kalikimaka Tiki Room

a57e05ead9ecba76f742d14b45da2db2.jpg

Closing overnight The Enchanted Tiki Room will become The Kalikimaka Tiki Room. As guests enter the queue for the Kalikimaka Tiki Room they will notice the changes for the holiday immediately. New tapa cloth tapestries depicting tikis celebrating winter and the holidays close in the tiki room blocking view to the outside world of Adventureland. Wreaths hanging on every column and pole are decorated with palm leaves, red and white hibiscuses, and miniature pineapples and coconuts. Snowmen made of sand replace the two tikis that used to stand guard over the pool of water. Clyde and Claude still host the same preshow as it provides sufficient exposition and backstory to the magic of the tiki room.

Walking into the Kalikimaka Tiki Room guests will be amazed at how at all the decorations that stretch throughout the ceiling zig zagging around will be lights, tinsel, garland and even strains of jingle bells. Outside the windows new window displays made up of poinsiettas and decorated palm trees create a new tropical vista with a merry twist. In the distance from the plants will be a snowcapped mountain, and through the use of projections a light snowfall is occurring in the distance. The birds themselves are donning their best winterwear. Some are wearing santa hats, others elf hats or even antlers; those that opted out of a hat wear scarves or earmuffs. Some birds got a little too excited and are now wearing winter mittens as new hats. Festivity is in the air at the Kalikmaka Tiki Room, and you can tell that the birds did not wing this holiday celebration.

Script

Jose:
My siestas are getting 'chorter and 'chorter. Oh look at all the people! Welcome to The Kalikimaka Tiki Room. Hey Michael mi amigo, pay attention - it's 'cho time.

Michael: So it is, and what darlin' people I have sittin' under me. Pierre you rascal you, let's put on the show.

Pierre: Mon ami, I am always ready, as you say, to put on ze show.
(wolf whistle) Oh, pardon madam, that whistle was for my good friend, Fritz.

Fritz: Ach du liebe! I almost fell out of my upper perch. Glad to see you all aboard, er, ashow, or hehehe, wherever you are! Mien goodness, you're all schtaring at us - we better start the show rrrolling.

Michael: Wait, wait, we forgot to wake up the glee club (shrill whistle).

Jose: Ole, ole it's 'cho time.

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,

Jose: All the birds sing words,

Michael: And the flowers croon,

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Michael: Welcome to our tropical hideaway, you lucky people you, If we weren't in the show starting right away, we'd be in the audience too.

All: Altogether!
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,

Jose: All the birds sing words,

Michael: And the flowers croon,

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Fritz: I sing so beautiful, I should sing solo.

Jose: Si, so low we can't HEAR you.

Pierre: My voice may not be so marvelous, but my profile is out of this world.

Michael: Jawohl, but the trouble is - it's not FAR enough out of this world. Isn't that right Herr Schmidt? Whoo hoo! I see Schmidt has no hair!

Jose: Mi amigos stop the clucking, you sound like a bunch of old hens. There's a lot of birds waiting to go on. For instance:

Michael: The boys in the back are called macaws.

Jose: Because of their claws?

Michael: No because they're macaws!
And our fine feathered friend is a jolly toucan,
and two can sound better than one toucan can.

(toucan hooting)

Michael: The bird of paradise is an elegant bird,
It likes to be seen, and it loves to be heard.
Most little birdies will fly away,
But the Tiki Room birds are here everyday.

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
Jose: All the birds sing words,
Michael: And the flowers croon,
All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Michael: Our show is delightful, we hope you'll agree,
We hope that is fills you with pleasure and glee,
Because if we don't make you feel like that,
We're gonna wind up on a lady's hat!

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,

Jose: All the birds sing words,

Michael: And the flowers croon,

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Pierre: Our magnificent production is yet to come,
So strum the guitar, and beat the drum.
We've been a hit, and we know you adore us,
So come on and join us in another chorus!

Everyone: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,

Michael: A little softer...

Everyone: All the birds sing words and the flowers croon,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Michael: A little louder...

Everyone: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
All the birds sing words and the flowers croon,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room!

Jose: And now señor and señoritas,
Please place yours eyes into the center, of the room that is,

Fritz: Ack, ja, and the wunderba bird mobile.
It has birds on it, and it goes rrround and rrround.
That's why we call it a bird mobile!

Michael: Look! Here come the girls!

Pierre: Madame and Monsieur, introducing the snowy songstreses of the north,
Just like the Folies Bergere, with only feathers.
There's Colette, 'ello Colette, Suzette, hello Mimi, Gigi, Fifi, ah, hehehe, Josephine...

Jose: I wonder what happened to Rosita?

Fritz: And now, und winter chilling tune.

Girls: We're dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones we wished to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

Jose: I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write

Michael: May your days be merry and bright

Pierre: And may all your Christmases be white

Everyone: We're dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones we wished to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen

Pretty cool idea with the Christmas theming for Tiki room (maybe a Halloween show with Uh-Oa?), but I have a handful of suggestions to it;
* Replace “write” with “type” in White Christmas. It would make more sense for birds without hands to use their talons and beaks to type, and it would perhaps feel more relatable. Maybe change some of the other rhymes to be more original, tropical, and funny to fit. Like “May all your christmases be ripe”, as a fruit pun, sorta to fit with the Dole Whips (which could get a special holiday variant) sold nearby.

Great notes I definitely could see Uh-Oa in a Halloween show she does have that creepy vibe to her.
As for lyrical changes I definitely can go back maybe add a few lines of dialogue, the only issues with changing words is due to rhyming schemes it would be hard to make things rhyme in that stanza. However I do think adding some new lines like White Christmas making the birds want to migrate could be a fun way to segue into the flowers and tikis.
Thanks for the feedback and happy holidays :D

Edit: Actually went back, and changed some lines of dialogues:
Introduction of the Bird Mobile/White Christmas:

Just like the Folies Bergere, with only feathers.

maxresdefault.jpg

Located in the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, a group of Batuuans gather together to host a special Life Day demonstration to celebrate and educate about this galactic holiday demonstration. To host this presentation Batuuans have taken over the Speeders repair station by the Droid Depot, and reorganized and decorated the second level for the Life Day festivities. Twinkling string lights in a golden lichen dyed silk garland wrap around the fencing and columns of this makeshift holiday stage. A large life day tree sits on the second level; it dons twinkle lights, various galactic baubles that have been repurposed into ornaments, and a red garland stringing around the tree. On the ground various crates have been cleared by the First Order now denotating a bright red stamp reading out cleared along with the First Order insignia. Some crates have been blasted open allowing for guests to take a peek inside to see Life Day robes imported from Coruscant and Life Day orbs imported from Kashyyyk.

Show Experience

As the showtime comes closer various Batuuans donning red robes begin to appear, and make their way to the performance area. Right at showtime fanfare is played as the Batuuans unfurl some banners down from the second level. Loaro, leader of this Life Day trio steps forward. Krystoe and Alevie flank him on the left and right respectively.

Loaro: Come, come gather around travelers! Let us share our Life Day traditions with all of you wandering off worlders! Today on this very special day of days the very first Life Day was celebrated on Batuu, and luckily for all of you we are the official Black Spire Life Day Committee!
Krystoe: Yes, yes! We go around spreading Life Day cheer all while working with delivering all Life Day packages with a little help from Ohnaka Transport Solutions. In fact today we actually received our Life Day orbs!

Alevie goes stage left to retrieve a Life Day orb, and after grabbing one they hold it up to the crowd speaking to the crowd.

swtor-life-day-orb-2.jpg

Alevie: Straight from Kashyyyk, the Wookie planet, these orbs are said to represent a galaxy within the endless possibilities of your afterlife. For when you die you would be transformed into an astral being taking your place amongst the stars.
Loaro: These orbs hold an important part in the Life Day traditions that we hold so dear to our heart. They allow us to reconnect with our ancestors, and celebrate their life amongst the stars. Now orbs aren't the only tradition for Life Day we also have some various special carols!

Krystoe goes stage right and brings out jingle bells for the trio and a galactic radio set which miraculously is connected to Galaxy Edge's nearby speaker system for the performance area.

Krystoe: This first song is called Joh Blastoh! We will be singing it in it's original Huttese, and if you know the words why just sing along!

The trio begin to harmonize with the music as they sing Joh Blastoh, and ring their jingle bells. Now if it sounds familiar it's because it's Jingle Bells in the original Huttese! This Life Day carol comes from the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. As the song comes to an end the radio begins to play the next song, but frazzles out.

Loaro: Krystoe, hurry fix that darn music maker!
Krystoe: Right on it Loaro!
Loaro: Well as Krystoe fixes that, Alevie why don't you educate about the robes.
Alevie: Sure, our Life Day robes are red to represent the love for our fellow beings and ancestors that we carry out every Life Day. For while Life Day gifts are nice and all , love for your friends and family is the true spirit of the season.

latest

Krystoe gets the radio to work again as it begins to play the intro into the next carol.

Loaro: This next carol has been passed on from Alderaan's Life Day traditions for while the planet may be gone, its culture and legacy still live on reminding us every Life Day to hold onto your family. This festive ditty is known as A Day to Celebrate.

The trio, led by Loaro, harmonize to this song which was sung originally by Carrie Fisher in the Star Wars Holiday Special. After performing this song the radio begins to play a quieter version of the Throne Room theme which has been slightly rerecorded to incorporate jingle bells.

Loaro: We thank you all for joining us today, and now knowing our Life Day traditions go on to host your very own Life Day celebrations at home!
Alevie: With love for your fellow beings!
Krystoe: And for the Life Day feast of foods!
Loaro: Ha ha ha, yes all of that and more. Before we bid you farewell there's one more song we'd like to share from our planet to yours. It's called Goodnight, But Not Goodbye.

In this rewritten and shorter performance of Goodnight, But Not Goodbye the Life Day trio simply sing a song that essentially means saying goodbye, but not forever. Many of the references of drinking and the cantina have been cut out of this song to make it fit this show better. It has been turned into a cheerier sounding song compared to the original. As the song ends Krystoe and Alevie begins to put away the props used during this Life Day presentation.

Just one more song, friend,
And then so long, friend.
The nights get shorter it seems.

Just one more rhyme, friend.
Yes, it's a crime, friend.
But you know time, friend.
Time can fly.

So say goodnight, friend.
Goodnight—but not goodbye.

Just one more dance, friend.
Just one more chance, friend.
One more chorus
One more tune.

It's not the end, friend,
If you're a friend, friend,
Then you'll come back to me soon

Now, it's goodnight, friend.
Goodnight friend.
Goodnight — but not goodbye.

Da da da da da,
Da da da da da,
Da da da da da da da,

Da da da da da,
Da da da da da,
Da da da da da.

Now, it's goodnight, friend.
Goodnight friend.
Goodnight—but not goooodbye.

Loaro: Thank you all for coming!
All Three: Happy Life Day to you all!

Come back tomorrow, and open another Imagineering gift to discover this holiday offering that tops this three times!

I like this rich blend of old and new here. Songs from the old and new holiday specials together. I feel like if there were a fourth song, it could be taken from the 1980 Christmas album:

Perhaps there's another Life Day themed gift this holiday season in the advent calendar that has yet to be opened ;)

The decoration here is not merely beautiful, but manages to play into franchise lore. I wonder what exclusive eats GE has for life day?
Unfortunately for the most part I failed to include new holiday eats, but Galaxy Edge does have a special hot coco thats served during the winter months, maybe it has a connection to Life Day.

Whatever the case may be if you'd like you could always add on some holiday treats tagging along with the advent calendar :D

Christeratop Spin

Christeratop.png

Playing into the recent updated holiday package in Dinoland USA is Christeratop Spin. In this holiday overlay every single tricertop present will be given a glowing bright red nose. The various balls that the triceratops balance on their noses, or sit on are rethemed into cartoonish and garish ornaments. Some of the triceratops also now don scarves, reins, jingle bell necklaces, or even earmuffs. In addition as the triceratops spin a zany instrumental version of either Up on the Rooftop or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer plays. This holiday overlay perfectly plays into the Christmas spirit while honoring the tacky and down right questionable tastes of Chester and Hester.

As an added bonus here's what the holiday package looks like in Dinoland USA last year:

Smash in tomorrow to discover a whole new gift that brings fun and joy to all good girls and boys.

Toy Story Mania: Ornament Smash & New Faces

tsm0129121LARGE.jpg

Unlike the other days of Imagineering Christmas, Toy Story Mania's changes will only effect a very small portion of the entire experience.

In Hamm & Eggs the horse in the barn has been replaced by a reindeer in the barn. The Green Army Men Shoot Camp sees a cosmetic change as well as new dialogue. As the guests spin into place Sarge begins to speak.

Sarge: I am not your nana! Smash those ornaments!

Now instead of plates being used will be various glass ornaments that have their point value painted onto them. The layout of the ornaments is identical to the plates in the regular game. Different shaped ornaments will be used throughout this section including ball, egg, teardrop ornaments. In the back instead of plates flying upwards will be tree toppers in the design of Christmas stars, and once hit enough will be worth more points as they now glow when thrown. Instead of balls being used to break the ornaments jingle bells that make noised if they miss will be in there place.

In Buzz Lightyear's Flying Tossers the rings have been replaced with wreaths, and the ornaments that decorate them are mini planets made of pizza. The aliens that appear in the background are now dressed as elves, and the ones with jetpacks are dressed up as Santa beard and all.

1607749410022.png

At the end of the ride when points are being tallied new characters may appear to congratulate guests. These characters will come in duos, one new character and one classic character. The pairings will be Hamm and Angel Kitty, Buzz Lightyear and Reptillus Maximus, Woody and Bo Peep, or Jessie and Mr Pricklepants. Each of these pairings will have playful banter between the duo, and both will congratulate the player in their own way. In addition the prizes have been turned into frosted sugar cookies much like the Hamm Sugar Cookie in the land's holiday decoration package.

Pairing: Angel Kitty and Hamm
Angel Kitty:
The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you.
Hamm: Oh jeez, would you get a load of that fruitcake! But hey these scores look pretty great! Good aim toys!

Pairing: Buzz Lightyear and Reptillus Maximus
Reptillus Maximus:
HUZZAH! You Battlesaurs did quite admirably! I will not fight you to the death. FOR BATTLEOPIS!!!
Buzz Lightyear: Woah woah there Battlesaur, excuse him some of us don't know we're quite toys yet. Good shooting space rangers!

Pairing: Woody and Bo Peep
Woody:
That was some rootin tootin shootin back there!
Bo Peep: Billy, Goat and Gruff send their congratulations everyone!

Bo grabs her crook and reaches for something of sight.

Bo Peep: Wooooody, miseltoe ;)
Woody: I uh hehe, bye everybody!

Pairing: Jessie and Mr Pricklepants
Jessie:
YEEHAWWW that was some fancy shootin from everyone!
Mr Pricklepants: To score, or not to score that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler to win or to lose.
Jessie: Uhhh okay? I think he means great job too everyone!

These minimal changes excite those that have ridden before with the surprising holiday twist, and will bring an dose of Christmas joy to all who experience the ride during this time of year.

Come back tomorrow, and open a brand new present that may just cause a flurry of music or just headaches!

Nice to see even the more minor attractions get Christmas variants, and this is honestly so sweet to me, and so adorable. What if they had a “Krampusaurus” of some kind (walkaround?) added as well?

Funnily enough it was more of a last minute swap in when realizing that the 12 Days of Christmas were going to be very Studios/Magic Kingdom heavy, and after that I decided to find projects to do in the other parks. Animal was easily the hardest park to get new holiday offerings in for me as it's harder to fit Christmas into the theme of conservation and exploration that is so prevalent through out the park.

I would be down for a Krampusauros or Kringlesaurus, but only if it's as cheap looking as the old Chester & Hester Carnotaurus costumes.

Just look at these costumes they're so terrible yet amazing for Chester and Hester at the same time, but I won't lie the female Carnotaurus's lips are quite frightening

A classic Christmas staple are carolers, and Magic Kingdom is sure to include some this time of year. In addition to the Main Street Trolley Show, during the months of November and December, the Main Street Carolers join the holiday lineup. They will perform daily in the Main Street Plaza Park, and at night will perform nightly in front of the Main Street Emporium near the Christmas Tree. They will be clad in traditional turn of the century attire, and carry around their playbook to sing from. Before and after showtimes they will wish a happy holidays to all passerbys, and during their performance they will encourage people to sing along with them joining in the carols.

Set List:
- Here We Come A-Caroling
- 12 Days of Christmas
- Jingle Bells
- When We're Together
- Joy to the World

Magic_Kingdom_-_Christmas_Tree_-_by_Mike_Miley.jpg

As the sun sets guests will gather around the Main Street Christmas Tree, and the Main Street Carolers will stand in front of the tree. The carolers perform their typical set, but with a special ending in which they sing O, Christmas Tree. Upon the finishing of the song a miniature light show occurs as the Christmas Tree lights up in a spectacular flurry of color. As guests finish looking at the tree the entirety is covered in falling snow projections, and the Christmas lights of Main Street turn on building by building. This action will reach all the way to the Hub stopping at the still unlit Cinderella Castle. As the Christmas lights flicker to life projections of snow are shown moving from the tree, and onto the Main Street USA buildings. In addition to the projections Disney's signature snoap begins to fall as guests delight in this merry moment.
Showtime: 5:55 PM

If you thought carolers singing standard Christmas songs from America and Britain, just wait till you hear tomorrow's gift ;)

Probably modify those old Carnotaurus costumes for Krampusaurus and Kringlesaurus?
Assuming Disney has them in storage still I don't see why not :D
They definitely fit in with the whole Chester & Hester feel of the area.

I met the brown one as a kid!!! Don't remember the other one though (probably a good thing). They updated the costumed later with more cartoony representations of Chester and Hester.
