Yeah, I know Legacy is gone, and I'm not replacing him, but I've always wanted to review a movie like this, so this may be one of my only chances. So wish me luck, and here I go:

Story:

"Kingdom of Heaven is an epic adventure about a common man thrust into a decades-long war. A stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed king, falls in love with an exotic and forbidden queen, and rises into a knight. Ultimately, he must protect the people of jerusulum from over-whealming forces-while striving to keep a fragile peace.

Rated R: For strong violence and epic war fare.

Pros: I must say, I LOVED this movie. There is very little to complain about. Orlando Bloom does a very good job in his role. He doesn't have an extremely stand out performance, but he does a good job, and is very likable. The women who plays the queen is HOT. Whew! Orlando gets all of the good chicks. :brick: All of the other acting is very decent as well. Jeremy Irons David Thewlis ( sp? ), and Liam Neeson are all great as well. No way did I think of them as Qui Gon, Professor Lupin, or Scar. The cinematography is beautiful. The scenery, camera use, and color scheme of each scene has so much love and care put into them. The costume design and set design will no doubt win an acadamy award, no matter what the competition is. It all felt so real and authentic, I could've sworn that they'd filmed in a real church or a temple instead of on a set.

Now, let's talk battle scenes. One word: WOW. The special effects worked very well with the CG armies. The choreography was very comvincing. There is alot more blood here than "Lord of the Rings", but it doesn't detract from the movie. Its not like they were trying to show as much gore as possible, but it shows that those were harsh and unforgiving times back then. It feels alot more gritty and real. The end war scene between the arab invading forces invading Jerusulum is ASTOUNDING. Ridley Scott takes what he's learned from the return of the king, and improves it, and molds it into his own special way. Some of the war tactics are similar ( seige towers, catapults, ect. ) but are shown differently. There are some scenes that will make you go to the edge of your seat.

The sound effects were astounding as well. Actually, they put Lord of the Rings to shame. You could really hear the loud pounding and smashing sounds of the rocks on the city walls. Quite impressive. I also loved the musical score. It sounded great! I loved it.

Cons There is very little to complain about in this movie. Some critics have complained that it drags a bit, but I don't think so. Many of the talking scenes are essential to the story. Unlike Troy which had loads of pointless talking scenes talking about symbolism, ect. The film isn't quite as grand and bold as Gladiator, but it is special on its own. I'm dissapointed that some critics are really bashing this movie in every way, which really angers me. Why are all the crtitics bashing all the good movies now days?

Overall rating: Five out of five stars! Grade: A

I highly reccomend this movie to anyone who liked Gladiator or Lord of the Rings. If you don't like alot of blood, this may not be for you. The one main message of the movie that I really liked, was that the Kingdom of Heaven does not reside in land or power, but it lies in your heart and your mind.

"Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright. Speak the truth, even if it leads to your death. Safe gaurd the helpless, always. Rise a knight! Rise a knight!"

The story has some holes (I'm thinking its because Scott is probably thinking about doing a prequel if this film is successful)...I think they could have organized the film a bit better too...but I agree it was all around a good movie...

Also the soundtrack wasn't so bad...

I give it a B...:D

Saw it last night....fantastic film....I'd give it a solid A.

I liked how Jeremy Irons was in it....I would say "Hey, it's the Spaceship Earth guy!" to my girlfriend every time he appeared on screen.
