Imagination w/ Figment broken

During my WDW vacation last week, my family and I rode Journey into Imagination with Figment. While standing in the queue, some of the overhead signs that are usually projected onto with pictures of a moving figment were dark and just empty shapes. They weren’t being projected onto like normal. Then, when we finally got on, 2 of the 5 signs you see as the very first part of the ride that list all the senses were dark as well. In the row of five, it was the second and fourth one.

Has anyone else seen this? Why is this ride partially broken?

Figment was never benign, he's always been rather impulsive and not concerned with the guests' well-being.

Because it's old, uncared for, and probably just waiting to die at this point.

Last time I was on it, the screens on the "Imagination is a blast!" part were frozen. We were just sitting there when the "blast" came with no warning and scared the crap out of everyone.

My theory involves the ride's replacement. Either it was supposed to happen earlier and the people at disney decided to leave it be, or it's gonna happen pretty soon.

I believe we saw this same lack of repair just before they closed Ellen's (long and boring) Energy "Adventure"...

I rode it on Thursday this week and everything was working. Stuff happens to every ride, and unfortunately these days take longer to fix.

It’s not always doom and gloom though.
