so with this imagination rehab, will they be opening the top floor of the pyramid (where the old imageworks? used to be) it really bothers me that the space is being wasted. i have vague memories of this as a child (the ranbow tube) but i remembered it last summer when i spotted the old escalators to the left of the exit of the store after the ride. why aren't they using that space? and will they be using it again? thanks

The original mae Works were so much better than the new. But the old one was very old fashioned. I think they could have kept some of the old one and added to it. I loved the imstrment thing, much better than the virtual one.

I love to see the old Works upstairs re-open. If Disney would just put the money into it, they could make a dreamland for most kids. With all the technological advances in the world, you think they could throw together some neat stuff up there. But since they struggle to get Journey right after destroying that masterpiece, who knows what they'll do.

I, too, miss the old Imageworks...Really liked the rainbow tunnel...Not having the upper part of the building open anymore is kinda like closing off all but the first floor of the Washington Monument: It makes no sense.
Anyways, a Dumb Question (from someone who hasn't been to Epcot since 1984):

Is the current "Journey" ride in the same physical location as the original ride?

there isn't a "current" ride. However, the upcoming ride will be in the same building. Journey into Your Imagination thankfully died...

To clarify on what Dogs Rule wrote, yes the ride is in the same building, but the track plan is different. the last ride that they had and the ride that they are building have shorter tracks than the original ride with figment.

Thanks DogsRule & Woofboy....

Now, could it be somehow possible that they may re-extend the track in the new "JII"? Here's to hoping they will:)

Optimistically Yours:

Does anyone have pictures (or even better, video) of the old Imagination ride? My wife and I were only able to see it once, on our first trip in '96 (our honeymoon). I have some vague memories and I've heard so many people liked it.......

There's a rather good video of the old JII ride at www.figmentsimagination.com a pretty good website, too, for all things Figment...Not only is the original JII ride on there (in RealVideo), there's also pretty crisp and clean audio samples of the different scenes of the original ride.....And for those of you who like to torture yourselves, there is also downloadable video of ride #2, Journey into YOUR Imagination.

Right now, I think the upstairs area is for special parties only (or annual pass people only) I think this is what a CM told me. I kinda liked JIYI, but still it wasnt that great.
