And it would also work with your idea cause its an over head coaster can you imagine how cool it must feels to swing around Agrabah in a flying rollercoaster?!?!?

You hit it on the head!:sohappy: My only problem with your analogies with other rides is that I have not rode them. I will need more info on those later!!!!

Revenge of the Mummy is a roller coaster in the dark that is unbelievible!! It stops in front of show scenes with the mummy you hear and see whats WITH REALLY ADVANCED AA!!!and then you go into a really cool coaster sequence with dips and turns its incredible! One of a kind... Now if only Disney would invest and create something similar with an overhead system not like Dueling dragons but like The Big Bad Wolf in Busch Gardens Williamsburg... Which has free movement and swing to the sides and gives the illusion of flying... What do you think New2WDW?:D

One of the biggest surprises for me on a ride was the POC ride when it went down a steep hill in the dark and I never saw it coming. This would fall in the same category as well!

Imagine Alladin challenging you to a race thru Agrabah! And off you go....gliding down thru the streetscape going over and under banners, marketplace setups, etc. and as you are going you catch glimpses of Alladin flying between buildings and then right next to you! This part of using your imagination could be setup by Belle and then when complete re-enter the library for Belle to discuss a new story.

Thanks, to guys posting before I will probably use the Library or snipits of it to begin and end each Imagination tour. So there needs to be fewer scenes with more within each. Belle will be describing a story like...."could you imagine a magic carpet ride thru the sky, etc, etc, and you would then go thru the library into Aladin's race sequence. First slow down to interact with him and then take off.

I want to keep Alladin in the ride, and Beauty & the Beast. Other initial ideas at the beginning that I wanted to tie in were:

Lion King - doing a sequence where you would speed up and run with the animals on the Pride Lands and then slow down in the jungle with Simba and friends.
Tarzan - swinging thru the Jungle? (the vehicle would run on an sweeping curve to get the swinging action.
Ariel under the Sea - slow moving side to side action like being under water.
But I need to see which ideas bring the best flow to the ride. And I guess I need to keep it at about 4 sequences not counting the beginning and ending interaction with Belle!

Do ya'll have any other suggestions?

More Info...

The loading area will be like Belle's village and you will enter the Library that she goes to trading books.

I have not had a clear idea on the shape and seating of the vehicle which will carry the guests. I was thinking basicly for now a 3-seater ski-lift shape with more surrounding it including a foot rest. (for easier access into the vehicle and to hold you in)

Only worry is that I do not want to make this ride too fast or furious so that kids of all ages would like to ride it.

Slowing down to view the still scenes is exactly what was planned. Stopping entirely - I am not sure about.

Gotta go, more later!

For the show scenes I dont think that you should stop entirely as that can get a little annoying the constant going and stopping you can just slow down enough to appreciate the show scenes but not stop completly so you dont ruin the flow of the ride... And in regards to the Lion Knig area imagine this remember the opening sequence in the first movie with Zazu flying you can burst forward from a mist screen and then start flying over Pride Rock, it will be a sort of Soarin' type expirience but when we see Simba we drop and start runing next to him...

Just my 2 Cents:lookaroun ...

I like your idea of tying into the movie like that! I will watch that part of the movie and see what it shows. As far as the vehicle, is that a 4 person vehicle (2 in front and 2 in back)? Do you think that the people in the back will get the full effect of what we are doing with this ride. I was thinking more along the lines of a single seat like PP Flight and a minimal front to the vehicle for maximized view and experience. Also a single overhead rail as well. I like the effect of Soaring but in order to keep the lines moving I think it needs to be like the other Dark Rides where the vehicles keep moving, you step in and put a seat belt on and a bar comes down to hold on to. The ride will be kind of fast at times and that will warrant a seat belt I believe. I will have to come up with some concept art on the vehicle so we can nail that down. I have been working on the Library and playing with that and when I get something done on that I will post it. ( Hopefully in the next day or so)Thanks again for the info and like you said, no stopping of the vehicle just a slow down.

Recap of thoughts on sequence:
Loading Area: Belle's Village
Opening Scene: Library from Belle's Village (with AA of Belle)
First story: Beast's Castle - Be our guest
Transition: re-enter library scene with Belle speaking of
another story (Belle repositioned in room)
Second Story: Prideland Pursuit (fly over Pride rock on down into
the Pridelands to see Simba and friends)
Transition: re-enter Library 3rd time
Third Story: Ariel's Playground (Go under the ocean to visit Ariel
and friends while they sing "Under the Sea")
Transition: re-enter Library 4th time
Fourth Story: Alladin's Challenge (race thru Agrabah with Alladin)
Final Scene: Finish with Belle in Library ( and have smaller
characters throughout the room, on bookshelf,
peeking from behing table, etc. with Belle
encouraging everyone to use their Imagination.)

The Transitions into and out of the Library will be different. Same room but different entry/exit locations with Belle in different areas reading or pulling down a new book from the shelf. It may even be just a portion of the Library on one side as you pass by with black or misty areas on the other side. Anyway, I need to figure the time frame on this to see if we need another scene or not. Does anyone know how long some of the other dark rides are?

Image Update

I worked on the layout of the Library Opening Scene using a still image from the Beauty and the Beast DVD. Obviously it is not exact but I am trying to create a sense of it in elevations so I can create the scene in a 3D world. So here is a link to the elevations and next I will be working on the 3D model and rendered images inside of it. Any comments are welcome...

Thats a good idea you can enter and see Belle trying to fix all the books that have fallen and as she tries to piece the books together you travel through each one now... for changing from scene to scene you can have a huge book with with a square opening and with mist pouring through it on the mist you can project the next book that we are about to go through... The ending scene can have Belle with an organized Library and a huge wraparound screen with all the characters in their respective stories... The chairs can be themed to look like open books with a seating of three across or two... So what do you think we can make this ride kick a$$:D

Just me two cents:lookaroun ...

In lieu of vehicles I was thinking more along the lines of a town cart type thing. Something you would probably see a peddler pushing down the street with french bread in it or something, of course with the guest replacing the french bread. It would look wooden of course. Maybe thats just me.

Good thought about the vehicles, but would that fit with an overhead track system? I do not know at this time. I am going to think about the vehicle as I work on the rest of the ride.

I have almost completed the interior model of the Library - I still need to create books on shelves and attach materials to the rest of the model and then I can post some interior rendering images and hopefully a ride thru of this portion to get an idea of view and speed. I am going to probably jump over to the Alladin scene next, because I think that part will be fun to create. Stay posted, I am always looking for comments! Thanks!

Modeled Belle's Library Images

I finally had enough time to complete my model of the Library. I did not have all the materials I wanted so I rendered some images anyway. Here's the links:

LibraryV03.jpg

I wanted an image of Belle's Village to put behind the window but did not have one so I just used some scene from England I had. Also, I did not put books into all the shelves - just got bored. The video sequence for this scene will simply be a front approach thru the doors and into the room and turn towards the bookshelf on the right to eventually go thru to the first scene. Belle in this opening sequence will probably be on the far left end at the bookcase holding a book.

Wow i wish they would really invest in this type of darkride.... More!More!:sohappy:

What scene are you working on next?:D

Thanks for the encouragement!:) I was playing with the walkthru aspects of the program and have not learned all that I need yet to turn out a video of the ride, but I am hoping to at least do video sequences of each scene in completing this project. Next, I am going to jump into the Alladin sequence because as I have stated before it looks like more fun!

Stuff I need to work on is showing charaters in the scenes. The program I am working on (3d Studio Viz) has limited animation so I do not think I can produce any characters like Animatronics or anything but to at least show a characters location would be good. I will post a ride thru description of Alladin later tonight and I would appreciate your comments on it!

I read in your profile that your an Architect thats the field that im studying so do you have any hints, is it a rewarding job?

I have done my time in college and as an intern and starting this year I will be taking my exams to get my license!:sohappy: I love my job and have been doing it for almost 8 years now! I have learned a lot by being in a small firm. The big firms, although they have perks, don't allow as much diversity to learn. I would definitely check into your path to being an Architect. Here in GA they now have changed the law and you have to have a Masters in Architecture before you can work as an intern and then take your test. Good luck and if you have any more questions, you know where to find me.

The Alladin sequence...

Enter through a mist corridor into a cloud area in which you meet up with Alladin on his flying carpet. (video portion) Alladin challenges you to a race to the palace thru Agrabah and he then heads off to the city which is in the background. A fan begins to blow creating the effect of flying and as Agrabah increases in size on the video screen the vehicle goes forward and turns to the left into the top of the city speeding up.

You then go down into the city down thru a back alley over and under clothes lines, etc. and take a hard right making your way into the marketplace.

The marketplace comes alive with people, stores, carts, etc. Everything reacting to you flying by. As you make another hard left away from the marketplace a cart may turn over scattering fruit, etc.

(somewhere during these scenes you will catch a glimpse of Alladin on another video screen - to be located later-saying see you at the Palace)

Final turn to the right and start up towards the palace, up and over the balcony and into the palace where Alladin already is with Jasmine and other characters. You slow coming in and move thru the characters and into another mist/library transition.

The length of this sequence is what I need to figure out. I do not want it to be too short, so I need to add to the sequence as I model it out.

Comments?

Library video

I tried posting a short walkthru in the Library onto YouTube but since I am on dial up here at home it did not go thru. I will post it thru my DSL connection at work Monday and have it up. Sorry!

I am also working on initial Alladin modeling as mentioned above and hope to have images soon.
