Hello everybody, I'm planning a trip to Disney in early June 2018, just me and my best friend. I used to be OBSESSED with Disney World when I was a child, and this will be my first time going in 12 or 13 years to get some of that childhood nostalgia. I'm split between the standard little mermaid rooms at Art of Animation (which alas I'll admit look pretty tacky for two adults in their 20's) but the room is *relatively* cheap and the resort itself looks pretty cool. I'm also looking at Coronado Springs which looks STUNNING as do the rooms but it is a bit more expensive and apparently is under maintenance. Port Orleans French Quarter is my last option which I guess is a nice medium in both price and my feelings about the aesthetic, which I'm not head over heels over. Any opinions on what I should choose?

EDIT: I'm also looking at Caribbean Beach as well, which looks like it is going through lots of maintenance, but I'm open to stay there if portions of it will be finished

All 3 are nice resorts. If the price difference between them is not an issue I would do POFQ. AoA is geared a little more towards kids but can be fun for people of all ages. We have stayed at CS several times and will be there again in April. My only complaint about CS is the size..... It is a huge resort, roughly 3/4 of mile from one side to the other. We will be staying in a preferred room next time to make sure we are near everything. POFQ has a little more mature theming, its smaller size is nice, and beignets for breakfast!!

Wow you and I are having the exact same decision issue. I'm going the first week of June and was down to those 3 resorts as well. I ultimately picked a preferred room at Coronado springs this morning. I LOVE AOA because of the fun very Disney theme and have stayed there a few times. I still might stay there who knows lol, I was wanting a different resort for a new experience and came down to POFQ and Coronado. Coronado ultimately won because of the beautiful theming(I visited it once to walk around), French quarters theming didn't do it for me either.

I picked Coronado Springs. You said you were in your 20s, figured you could handle the extra walking. I think the themeing and facilities are right for someone that age. If you had kids, or you were older and out of shape, I would say no way. I have the same complaints about CS that everyone else does. Still, it's really nice to have a margarita on a hammock overlooking the lake, enjoying the massive pool and the restaurants are on point for two young adults.

The good news is, you're going to have a great time no matter where you stay.

That being said, do you plan on visiting Disney Springs? Is on-site dining (especially a TS restaurant) important to you? Do you plan on spending time at the resort pool?

If yes to DS, the Port Orleans have convenient boat service to Disney Springs, while the other resorts rely on buses. What POFQ does not have (although PORS, a 10-15 minute walk away, does) is a table-service restaurant. It also hasn't benefited from a recent [in fact, still ongoing] refurb like Coronado Springs (although some of us would beg to differ on whether CS's new decor, fresh as it may be, is an improvement). ;)

Coronado Springs' main drawback is the large footprint. This will be annoying on your first and last day (when you're most likely checking in/out at the front desk, which can be a hike from most rooms) -- I seem to remember that it took us no less than 15 minutes of brisk walking to get to our room at CS when we stayed there, after checking in. However, the distance won't otherwise present a problem unless you want to dine, shop, or refill mugs in and around that main building on a regular basis. If you think you'll want to pop into the food court for your morning coffee every day and don't want it to take 30 minutes, then POFQ is your best option. On the other hand, if pools are important to you, Coronado Springs has an especially impressive feature pool.

You may notice I didn't mention the Little Mermaid rooms -- that's because I don't think they're particularly suitable (in terms of size, primarily) for two adults, and I think you'll appreciate the enhanced privacy and storage space of a moderate. If you decide that the moderates are just too far above your budget, however, you should definitely ook into the Caribbean Beach Resort. Parts of it are a mess at present (poor views from the pool area, no food court - replaced by pop-up CS locations and food trucks) from the unsightly construction that's currently going on, but if you just want a nice place to sleep and convenient transportation to the parks, you might want to check it out -- it's currently priced at the level of a value to compensate for the construction.

CSR is undergoing room refurbishments and a new tower is being built. The tower work will be pretty much confined to that area.

CBR has a whole new resort being built on part of the land, as well as two gondola stations. The part of CBR flattened for Riviera means they are also redesigning the entrance way and check-in main building, restaurants etc. That suggests it will have far more impact for longer on the whole resort.

If you're happy with either AoA or POFQ, I would narrow it down to one of them. Personally I would do POFQ, but I haven't stayed at either!

I voted for CSR resort, not because of my personal preference but because you said you weren't thrilled with POFQ or Mermaid and CBR, which I love, is out until this major rebuilding period is finished. That leaves CSR. It's your vacation so why stay somewhere you're not thrilled about!

Hello. New here. My wife and I love the POFQ or even POR, if you can get it. The quietness and the ring is very adult and kid friendly. The boat service is the best to DS and between both resorts, there is great entertainment. We have stayed at POFQ and walked over to the quick service or the guy on the piano on Saturday nights. CS is second in line, but we just drove by it on this trip, and there is quite a bit of construction going on. AoA is the only one we have never stayed at. Have heard great things, but it is all about what you want.

2 20 something adults....I would go to POFQ for the night life access and quietness. Plus as one person said...beignets. Also remember that June is a busy time and AoA can get a little busy due to the fact that it is a value. I guess you just have to see what you want to do and see how much the room will impact it. We are going up in Dec for a two night stay and decided to stay off at the Spring Hill suites because we are not “using” the hotel amenities. Just to rest our head after the parks. Good luck!

If you plan to do any spa type things, the salon/spa in Corando Springs was redone a few years ago and is really lovely.

EDIT: aaannnd somehow I missed that you're a fella. Apologies! However, spa services are for everyone! It really is quite nice there, if you want to get a massage to counteract all the walking. :)

I would highly suggest Port Orleans French Quarter. My husband and I are in our early 30's with no kids. We stayed at French Quarter a couple years ago as well as Coronado and liked French Quarter WAY better. Coronado for us was way too stale, it felt like a nice hotel yet not with that Disney vibe. French Quarter gives you that Disney feel without being in the immersed rooms of Little Mermaid (we have stayed there too). Benefits of French Quarter are bus system is better than Coronado, they have a great little lounge Scat Cats with music on certain nights, and a nice outdoor pool bar. Also, the best part it the transportation to Disney Springs, you are just a short boat ride away. I know I am in the minority but we have stayed all over Disney property and Coronado is probably the one resort we would not return to.

As someone in your 20s, are you going to be spending much time at the resort? If you don't think so, then save your money and stay at AoA. FQ is a fairly small intimate resort that alot of couples choose that has boat access to Disney Springs. CSR tends to get more of an adult crowd due to the conference center, so they still have a night spot you could go to but is more spread out than FQ. Really depends on what you are looking for and what your goal is.

I think what should decide where you stay is does your location matter to you? Are you even going to be in your room that much? And what your friend wants. For me I’d choose POFQ, but I’d look into Riverside, we prefer Riverside bc it has more. Art if Animation will definitely give you that nostalgia. And there’s nothing wrong with staying there as adults.

Wellllp its still a tough decision but I think I'm leaning towards Coronado, its beautiful and personally I think I'm a fan of how big it is, the walk doesn't bother me as someone who has lived in cities but is too much of a cheap scumbag to take public transit , but who knows, I'm in no rush to set anything in stone for a couple weeks anyways (the deposit to book hurts my feeble mind), anyone else is still welcome to give their opinion, this is just a big splurge for me, and one I probably won't make again for quite awhile, I wanna get it right :)

you will probably be equally happy at any of the moderates and as an adult you will probably prefer them to the value resort. Coronado and POR are both particularly well suited to adult travelers IMHO but of the ones you list Coronado would be my first choice.

You are right about Coronado Springs. It is stunning. We stayed there once and loved it. The rooms seemed more spacious than others in the mod class, but they are supposed to be the same? The theming was great in the Casitas area with tropical plants and fountains. The room was very clean and perfect for 2. It is a big resort, but if you are in your 20's or so, it should be fine. There are internal buses available, and really, the walk was not any different than POR or any other large resort, such as CR. I think you would love it.
Also, since it is a convention hotel, it has a more adult, laid back vibe and is more luxurious, IMO.
