I'm surprised you only get to see four princesses.

The video announcement made me wet myself with anticipation.

:rolleyes:
It has stained glass. And moldings. And fake candelabras. Disney at its finest.

It's somewhat sad that these Imagineers are forced to get on camera and try to convince us that moldings are incredible theming and "the Disney Difference." Imagine if Universal felt the need to release videos about the authentic brick work in Hogwarts castle, beautifully themed doors, and pretty lights.

Remember when Disney used to have amazing new attractions year after year to show off? I hope we get back to that before I'm too old to see the impressive details without an Imagineers hitting me over the head with them.

Just watched the video...it looks so... meh. Very "so what"...I was expecting that with losing an attraction that the meet and greet would at least be special but this has all the charm of a hotel convention room. I feel sorry for the imagineers that had to try and hype absolutely nothing... the wallpaper has a slipper and one of the chandeliers has a crown... big deal....What happened to the Cinderella meet and greet where she was going to transform into a princess in front of you? What a waste of a building and an unimaginitive mess.

My thoughts exactly.

I am forever entertained by the "Imagineer Interview" videos they put on the corporate Disney Parks Borg, um, Blog. They just gush overboard about every detail and act like every scrap of wallpaper and every crown chandelier is the most special thing in the whole wide world. And did you see those bookends!?!

You just wanna go "It's a corny meet n' greet at a theme park, let's dial the smarmy propaganda down a couple notches, okay kids?"

You have to feel sorry for them though, because they are just doing their job, and they are understandably proud of the work they've been doing in there for the past six months. But the editing and hyping of these corporate videos is beyond the pale. God help them when they actually build something really cool, there won't be any oxygen left in the room when the video crew is done.

So, I checked out the update on the Princess Fairytale Hall and after listening to the video I was surprised by two things. First, at any given time, there will only be four princesses to meet. I would have thought that building this grand setting for them would have meant the opportunity to meet a lot of princesses.

You don't get to meet four Princesses, you only get to meet two Princesses at a time. You enter the queue and choose which two (2) Princesses you want to meet. From the Disney Parks Blog post by Ms. Fickley-Baker;

"As a reminder, Princess Fairytale Hall will offer two separate character greeting experiences, which means there are two queues to choose from. You can choose to meet either Cinderella or Rapunzel, each of whom will be joined by one fellow Disney princess."

Then you exit the facility. If you want to meet the other two Princesses on the other side of the wall that you didn't see, you either get back into the Standby line or get another Fastpass for later in the day and go again, and this time you choose the other side of the room to see the other two gals.

You do have the ability to choose which two Princesses you will see when you get your Fastpass. From Ms. Fickley-Baker again;

"Yes, there will be two separate FASTPASS options for guests to choose from: Rapunzel and a princess friend or Cinderella and a princess friend. (Also, the FASTPASS distribution for Princess Fairytale Hall will be located near Peter Pan’s Flight)."

So, two Princesses at a time. Then exit and go again some other time for the other two you want to see.

Interesting that this is being operated very differently from the Princess Fantasy Faire and the Royal Hall meet n' greet pavilion there. Very differently.

I'll just say it--I hate forced jargon. It's irritating and comes across as fake. Forced jargon of the day: "princess friend." Ugh. Speak like a normal human, robot who writes this stuff. And then the poor Imagineers are forced to speak the same way as though someone is in the background ready to take them out if they misspeak.

The bookends are fine, but that is a nice tiny detail that you discover...not one you make a 30 minute infomercial about. I am surprised we did not get a very long press release about the carpet and paint...yet
I'm sure after the new American Adventure restrooms open, we'll get an Imagineering video about how magical the toilet seats are.

'Hotel Convention Room' seems to be an aesthetic Disney strives for now. That is exactly what the castle portions of Storytime with Belle looks like (particularly the hallway you meet the Wardrobe in).

That was the first thing I thought when we walked through the mirror...wow we are in the Marriott Convention Center! That IS Magical!LOL While very nice for a Meet N Greet, it seemed somehow too generic... it should have at least looked like the restaurant next door... It certainly does not look like a French castle inside... And the new Fairytale Hall seems to strive for the same aesthetic... "Pleasant" is about the best thing I could say....Certainly not 'Wow!" or "Magical"...Meh... The Princess Friends are "Disney Royalty"...it should be jaw dropping and amazing...

It's irritatingly fake language, because it is fake.

It's interesting that as many corporate marketing campaigns in the 2010's become looser and use grass roots stuff like "viral videos" and other casual yet targeted media tools, that Disney attempts to do the same thing but somehow has screwed it all up. Example #257: The forced language and fake "talking points" low level employees like these two Imagineers had to use in this video.

This latest Imagineering video is an attempt by Disney to be hip and viral and aim at niche demographics of their customers who would be interested in this stuff. But they do it so badly that it's laughable. It's just embarrassing for whomever in Disney's marketing department thinks this is actually working.

And yeah, the bookends are cute, but don't make a video about them. Just let them exist and let people discover them on their own.

The analogy of a hotel convention facility makes a lot of sense. I couldn't put my finger on it why these new interior spaces looked "nice" and yet sterile and predictable at the same time. These spaces might have impressed Magic Kingdom audiences in the 1970's, but in the 2010's they just look normal and predictably themed. It's not over the top or pushing the envelope for contemporary audiences.

I really dislike this part! We had 3 princesses for one line at Town Square Hall. Now we have 2 lines for 4 princesses. Umm...if you double the lines, could we double the princesses? So that there are 2 lines but 6 total princesses? Cindy, Snow, Aurora, Rapunzel, and two more?
Just seems like such a waste of time to wait in line twice. Wasn't part of the reason for MM+ to get us out of lines and into places we could spend money?o_O

There's just an inherent sadness that what they are "most proud of" is a pair of bookends. How far we have fallen from being most proud of an A-A they spent years on, or (gasp) a ride filled with dozens of cutting edge A-As.

Bookends? I'd like to bookend this decade of decline for Disney and move on to something better.

well, not just bookends, but BOOKENDS! and don't forget the CROWN on the chandelier in convention meeting/Princess Hug Room2! and the princess posters! Actually maybe they were designed this way so they could also lease the rooms for corporate events... The Princess Fairytale Hall and Corporate Events Center.
