I'm surprised Orlando has never become a theatre destination

Unfortunately I think that Orlando is becoming too focused on the action-oriented teenager families than it is on the no-kids or more culturaly-oriented vactioners. Even La Nouba is more stunts oriented than show compared to other Cirque productions.

I think if Disney wants to start creating more market share instead of trying to squeeze more money out of an ever dwindling share they would do something about this. Why not have an area of permanent stage shows - including the Disney shows and others - of various museums and such, that would attract a new audience and maybe make it more appealing for families that have some members more interested in the parks than others. Instead of building a fifth gate, I think they need to work on a better Downtown.

The big differnece and reason orlando lacks in big broadway shows is that in las vegas they are trying to get people to come to there property and stay there ( much like disney) but think of how many different Mega Hotels are up there together. They bring in big shows and big names to pump up there properties attractiveness and keeping power. In Orlando there is Disney and Universal, and universal doesn't offer as much as Disney does. Orlando has great little theatres and alot of kinda sub local theatre community, but with the big stuff we get some tours and thats it.

Oh and I am so excited for Nemo and hope it leads to more live entertainment back in the parks like it used to be.

And lion King is coming to Bob Carr not the TD waterhouse.

I would love if WDW had a theatre like the Hyperian at DCA, where shows could change every few years. Although Nemo's new venue is the closest resembelance, I'd like something else. Orlando is a somewhat big theatre destination, attracting actors from all over the world. I think it's just sorta non-traditional, lots of street shows and such with lots of talented people without a set venue or 100% scripted show. WDW's the perfect place for that opertunity.

i do hope you mean "bad" as in good!:slurp:

Yes, sorry - I have had wonderful food there. I am guilty of stereotyping...
How about "You go to London for Royals and Ale"

Better?

(And congrats on being an International Rep. I will also start on Sept 10th! Perhaps I'll see you!)

Well living in one of the worlds busiest theatre places, la london...ewwww!!!!! i think it would be good to have a bit of a broadway thing going on there. The most magical and talked about plays over here are things like the lion king, mary poppins, beauty and the beast when it was on! maybe disney should take a hint and try to get some of these up and running. hundreds of londoners visit the theatres every day and they arent tourists so maybe in florida they would be kept busy out of season too, and aren't the lines between in and out of season becoming VERY blurred!!!!

it would just be very scary if a Harrods popped up in orlando...eww the thought of it!
