I'm sure that most, if not all, of us here worship Disney, but...

I dont worship any corporation, especially the evil ones. And I dont worship omnipresent cloud dwelling space zombies either, but I do like a good port, especially served with cheese.
Port? You're mellowing....

And I have about as much regard for TWDC currently as they have for me....

I've said it before...I really don't care what Universal is doing. Their content isn't interesting to me.

I'm willing to wait for Disney to step up their game with Star Wars, Avatar, etc. However, they have dropped the ball and we haven't gotten a meaningful E-Ticket since Eisner days (Everest).

Iger has been a terrible Parks and Resorts CEO. He's been a great deal maker, margin squeezer, and TV guy. I honestly think he's the worst thing to happen to WDW specifically.

I don't think Disney is getting too far behind. Let's not forget they're getting an area for Star Wars and Toy Story, which are hugely popular and should be a nice counter move to Harry Potter in Universal. Plus, at least to me, Disney World has a charm that Universal lacks. Though, this may be because I am not a big fan of coasters, so WDW has more rides that I prefer (plus a lot the themes/design at WDW are more attractive to me than most of what Universal has, though, Universal still has some pretty cool stuff as well). But in the end, I think both parks will be doing pretty well in terms of attendance so there's really not much to worry about (plus, WDW has an amazing image, everyone sees the ads and at least knows of Cinderella's Castle or Space Mountain plus they have so many iconic/timeless characters).

Honestly, I think it all depends on what you're going for.

Universal is going to be more focused on young adults and teens with all of its thrill rides and such. However, that is kind of a limited audience.. I guess. They seem to be doing well off of it, though. If you don't believe this assumption, just look at the attraction offerings. I'll break it down into numbers..

Family/Small Kid-Friendly Attractions - 17

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, E.T. Adventure, Flight of the Hippogriff, Hogwarts Express, Kang & Kudos Twirl n' Whirl, Pteranodon Flyers, Shrek 4-D, Storm Force Accelatron, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, The High in the Sky Seuss Trolly Tram Ride, Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, Caro-Seuss-al, A Day in the Park with Barney, Animal Actors on Location, Men in Black: Alien Attack, Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad

Thrill Rides/Young Adults Attractions - 18

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, The Simpsons Ride, The Amazing Adventures of Spider Man, The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Dragon Challenge, Revenge of the Mummy, Doctor Doom's Fearfall, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, Fear Factor Live, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Terminator 2: 3-D, Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey, Poseidon's Fury, The Amazing Adventures of Spider Man, Transformers: The Ride 3-D, Fast & Furious, King Kong

While it is basically evenly distributed, and you can change the list however you want.. I put them in this order because older people, like my parents, cannot handle the fast turns and the screens. My parents as well as many of my parent's friends can hardly ride anything at Universal because they get extreme motion sickness after riding so many thrill rides. Even their "family thrill rides" like Spider Man are very intense. Also take into consideration that a majority of the family/small kid friendly attractions are nothing more than carnival rides or tiny coasters.

Meanwhile, Disney's list consists of..

Family/Small Small Kid-Friendly Attractions - 54

Astro Orbiter, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Country Bear Jamboree, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Enchanted Tales with Belle, It's a Small World, Jungle Cruise, Mad Tea Party, Mickey's PhilharMagic, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Peter Pan's Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, The Barnstormer, The Hall of Presidents, The Haunted Mansion, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peoplemover, Tomorrowland Speedway, Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid, Walt Disney World Railroad, Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the 3 Caballeros, Impressions de France, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, O Canada!, Reflections of China, Soarin', Spaceship Earth, The American Adventure, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Turtle Talk with Crush, Frozen Ever After, Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage, Disney Junior - Live on Stage!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Singalong Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Muppet*Vision 3-D, The Great Movie Ride, Toy Story Midway Mania, Festival of the Lion King, Flights of Wonder, Finding Nemo - The Musical, It's Tough to be a Bug!, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris, TriceraTop Spin, Wildlife Express Train, Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Thrill Rides/Young Adults Attractions - 13

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Stitch's Great Escape, Test Track, Sum of All Thrills, Mission: Space, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest, Primeval Whirl

Half of what I have listed as only young adult rides is even really pushing it, like Thunder and Star Tours... But it is obvious you can see the difference.

Universal is not trumping Disney by any means. Universal is creating big thrill rides that push the limits and have won awards for doing so. Disney can only do so much with family-related attractions. Which rides do you hear people talk the MOST about from Disney? The thrill rides. All the time. Take someone who isn't a local and has never been, they will be talking about Space Mountain and Expedition Everest forever. Nobody's going to talk about Mickey's Philharmagic or Jungle Cruise, despite how well they are done. If you mention it to them, they will remember it and say "oh yea! that was fun!"

The reason why it SEEMS like Universal is doing so much better, is because of all of their thrill rides. That is all you're going to hear about in the news and from your friends and family. Because they are thrill rides.

But.. From the eyes of a small child.. What are they going to talk about? Peter Pan! Cat in the Hat! Nemo! Frozen! What matters to them are those little family rides that us as young adults and teens normally forget about..

So.. Disney is family-friendly. Making a majority of their attractions not really talked about unless you go AS a family with small kids. Universal is teen and young adult-focused.. So basically most of both of their parks will stay in conversations for years to come. Which would you rather talk about? Winnie the Pooh or Expedition Everest? The Cat in the Hat or Harry Potter?

Its not that family attractions are bad.. They just kind of seem.. Forgettable. Now I'm sure there will be so many people argue against me, but I know it's true. I don't need someone to convince me otherwise.

Universal and Disney are apples and oranges. You can see that just by looking at the numbers different between family and thrill rides. If you're going as family with small kids, or if you're naturally a Disney fanatic, you should go to Disney. If you're a young group of teens or adults who are thrill junkies, you're gonna go to Universal.

Simple as that.

The reason you got so many sarcastic and somewhat annoyed replies is because this has been done over and over again on this board and many of us are sick and tired of it being revisited. So here's some advice: perhaps just maybe you could use that search function up there in the right corner and see if this horse has been beaten over and over again before you rehash it again and in a ridiculous manner at that.

And then hear the folks complain about "rebooting an old forum" when you find just the right topic you're looking for. Really there is no win-win on the website. So, like the OP said.. Just ignore it if you don't want to get involved.. Not that hard.

First, last time I checked, you do not control this board. So you can go stick it right up your you know what when you try to tell me or anyone else for that matter what we can or cannot post on a message board. Seriously, who the hell do you think you are trying to control the content of this board?! Maybe the entire board should have to submit a post to you for your personal approval before it actually gets posted. What a joke.

Second, some of us (obviously not you) actually have real lives outside of this message board and therefore are not aware of every single post that has been made every single second of every single day.

Third, if you find this or any other thread to be annoying, I have a suggestion for you. Now, before I give you this suggestion, you may want to sit down because it is truly mind blowing. Okay, are you sitting down? Are you ready? Okay, here goes. DON'T READ THE FREAKING POST! I know, crazy suggestion, right?

Glad I could provide you with some friendly advice.

Are you freaking serious? Where were they trying to control anything? Did you even bother to read their post? If you did, you would have noticed that they told me to do a search before I make such a post like that again. That's the very definition of trying to control something. Wow.

And I do ignore posts that I don't like. Big difference when someone quotes my post and talks directly to me, though.

You must not have read the part where they said "here's some advice...."

And here's some more: try to lighten up with the sanctimony. Your not in charge of this thread or forum either....

And one more thing, I just LOVE those people who are, as you said, "annoyed" by a post. As if someone is holding a gun to your head absolutely forcing you against your will to click on it, read it, and then reply to it.

If you think that person was simply offering some genuine, friendly advice, and was not being a totally sarcastic jackass, then there's not much anyone can do to help you.

I think your assumption that anyone here "worships" Disney (or any amusement entity for that matter) started you out on the wrong foot...
Seriously? You're going to quibble over the use of the word "worship?" Like you thought I meant that literally? Seriously?

I truly don't care about whether the advice was friendly or not, your reaction to it, or even how it made you feel. But it's terribly ironic that you're complaining about people trying to "control" you on a an internet discussion forum when you've no issue telling people what threads they should or shouldn't contribute to....

It implies that you think that we are that dumb, and I can assure you that your use of that word implying we are blind followers of the mouse is pretty far off-base. You might want to choose another forum to start this kind of nonsense.

I never told anyone what they have to do. I simply pointed out the obvious, which is if they don't like a topic, they can simply ignore it.

But since you've brought it up, it's both ironic and hilarious that you are whining about me, yet at the very same time trying to tell me what I should do. LMAO!

Wow, your reading comprehension skills are clearly lacking. If you took even half a second to read my original post before responding with your nonsense, you might have noticed that I included myself in the group of people who worships Disney. So I guess according to you, I was implying that I am also dumb and a blind follower of the mouse? Yeah, that makes total sense.
