I'm stuck on WL and thinking about a change!

Just booked for Sept for 6 days! I have stayed in several Disney resorts, deluxe, moderate, and Value. I have no interest in a value, would consider a moderate, really love the deluxe resorts. Problem is I've stayed at them all. I truly love WL and have stayed there the last Four times. I have good memories of all the other deluxe resorts just not sold on any of them. I wanted to change up the trip a bit and thought the resort change would be the ticket I'm just really having trouble leaving the WL. Two adults and two kids 10 and 7. Suggestions on a resort or maybe just ways to change up the trip? Thanks

I'm not sure what the question is. Do you want advice on mods or are you open to anything?

If you're open to anything except Values, tell the kids that and let them pick. Of course, letting kids pick has always landed me in the Contemporary, which is my least favorite, lol.

I guess anything. I just want that same feeling we get when we pull up to WL. The music, the smell, The Disney! I'm just not sure the experience will be the same elsewhere. Glad to hear that about the Contempory. My son wanted to stay there and I'm wasn't that thrilled. I really don't know what I'm asking. I'm just curious to others opinions because my eyes are burning from starring at the computer too long.

I've thought the same thing and just can't drag myself from the WL. I considered going club level but just can't justify the cost just for something new. I guess the most I would consider would be a split stay but no more. I really wanted to try one of the resorts near EPCOT but am afraid it just wouldn't live up to the WL. I understand your plight and would probably just look for other ways to spice up the trip but still stay at the WL. We normally add things like MNSSHP or a fireworks cruise...things like that. Good luck and let us know what you finally decide.

AKL is an extremely similar hotel, but with a totally different theme. The cabins in Ft. Wilderness might give you a somewhat similar feeling.

If I were you, I'd try something totally different, rather than trying to find something that will give you the same feeling. Like, try the Beach Club or GF.

Or just stick with what you love. No harm in that!

Number one. If its not broke don't fix it.
Number two. Variety is the spice of life.

Choose one or the other but no matter why happiness will be there just open yourself up to change and you can have more fun.

If you are interested in moderates, the Port Orleans resorts are really beautiful. You just won't get the indoor corridors. Yacht & Beach Clubs have that amazing pool too, if that's important to your family. But I totally understand how you feel about WL, it is my favorite as well.

Is there a must do reason to stay at WL? It may feel like home, or you may just enjoy it, but if there is no must have reason to stay there, there is no harm in switching it up. Since it sounds like you have made several trips down, and I could infer that you will be returning sooner rather than later, why not switch it up? It's just a hotel, and you can always switch back in the future if you find the other hotel to be a lesser experience.

I agree with a previous poster, AKL is quite similar so you may want to try there. That being said, I am in love with WL and its our favorite as well so I totally understand where you are coming from. And I see no problem staying at the same place if you want.

I'd give another resort a try and see how you like it. Or maybe do a split stay if you're willing to switch resorts. Do half at a new place and half at WL. That way if you're not a fan of the new place, you have WL to look forward to for your second half of the trip :)

I have stayed in every resort except Saratoga Springs at this point, and the WL is also my favorite. Very close seconds are the Beach Club and the Boardwalk. I would highly recommend both of those if you are looking for a change. You still get the music, the smell (kind of aloe-ish), and the atmosphere when you walk in, just with completely differenct theming. The pool at the Beach Club is way better than the one at the WL. It has a white sand bottom and a much cooler waterslide. The Epcot resorts also have the best location, in my opinion. You can walk or take a boat to Epcot and the Hollywood Studios from there. You won't have the same gigantic lobby or as many little nooks and crannies to explore, but the location and the pools just about make up for it. If you are really concerned about missing your favorite resort, you could always go eat over there one night. Or you could also split your vacation between two resorts. My family did this all the time when I was growing up. We would spend most of the week in a mod, and then do the last couple of days at a deluxe. Disney will transfer your luggage for you. We would just go the parks in the morning, and then go back to our new resort in the afternoon. We mostly operate out of our suitcases on trips, so packing and unpacking isn't a big deal for us.

We stayed at the Contemporary/BLT last year and loved it. Might be a good way to switch things up and you can still take the boat over to WL if you get homesick!

This year we are trying Beach Club. I'm looking forward to the new location.

My hubby would like to find 1 resort that he likes best, but we're still trying out new ones.;) If WL is your fave, then stick w/ it. It's 1 of the best IMHO.:D

What about AKL? Very similar to WL and I am sure all the animals would be appealing to the little ones. I know its my 11 DS favorite resort. One of the epcot resorts like BC or BWI sem like a good option too b/c of their location to Epcot and DHS.

If you like WL then STAY AT WL....I have stayed in most of the resorts (no values, all the others) over the past 20 years....and I would say that of the last 30 trips to WDW, 25 of them have been at POFQ and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. If you prefer WL then stay at WL. It's your "home resort" so enjoy and have fun!
