Pre-Trip (Im)patiently Waiting For My Early Fall Trip

EDITED 07.07.17 - Photobucket has updated their policies so my photos aren't displaying. I'll try to switch them all over to Flickr eventually!

How early is too early for a pre-trip report? I’m pretty new here still. Sorry if I’m committing a forum faux pas.

Who am I kidding, I’m not sorry. I just want to spend more time thinking about my upcoming trip! My husband claims I spend about 60% of my free time thinking about or reading about Disney. He’s probably right, but I don’t see that as a bad thing! Speaking of my husband, he’s my travel buddy and fellow Disney fan, R. Our first trip was our honeymoon in 2012, and we got hooked.

Our 2015 trip is booked, and I’ve been counting down the days! It will come after a ridiculously busy wedding season (which has already begun), and will be a very welcome break for me.

From our honeymoon:

Who: Me (K) and R. Photographer and Engineer
(you can tell from our careers how different we are)
When: September 28 – October 3
Where: Bay Lake Tower studio room, lake view
ADRs: Artist Point, California Grill (
early anniversary dinner), San Angel

I’m still trying to get BOG for lunch one of the days that we’ll be in MK. I try two or three times a day, but no luck yet. If I don’t get it, I won’t be crushed, but I’d love to try it out. We’re also eating at Big River Grill one night, though it looked like they didn’t take ADRs. Rhett thought it sounded good, so we’re giving it a shot.

Transportation: Driving from Tennessee! I shoot a wedding the 26th, and we’ll leave the next morning. We will stay in an Orlando hotel the 27th then probably go to MK until our room is ready the 28th.

Tickets: We’ll get those later. Probably 5 day park hopper for R, and maybe an AP for me. I might take a girls trip in January, so I’m waiting to see if that is going to work out.

Other plans: MNSSHP

We try to be really easy-going with our trips because neither of us would have a good time if we rushed around everywhere. We make plans, but they are loose plans. The dining reservations are set, obviously, because we don’t want to be charged for a no-show, but when we make FPs, we don’t always use them. We’ve never ridden TSMM because I never wanted to get there at rope drop and rush back there. Then last year, we had FPs and the dang thing was closed during our window. By the time it was back, we’d left the park. So will 2015 be the year we ride TSMM? Maybe! We have done the one at DL, so we’re not desperate to do it.

I may post a few photos from our December trip last year. I didn’t know about the forums at that point to do a report. It was a fun trip! The weather during that one was AMAZING.

Ok, done rambling. Now I’ll get back to reading everyone else’s trip reports and pre-trip posts!

Glad we're not the only ones! We just kind of make up the day as we go :) I tried to do all the FP+ early this time so we can wing it most of the day. Sometimes it's fun just to wander!

We have the same... or early FP+ or later in the day.... so sometimes we can do 2 parks a day of we want :) And totally agree about the wandering!!

Oh hey. Guess what I got in the mail today? No big deal or anything...I didn't squeal with delight at my mailbox and then sprint up the driveway to open it up inside.

You guys like my Haunted Mansion vinyl sticker? I LOVE IT! I hope it stays on. I might paint clear nail polish on it to try and seal it.

I also just ordered some Parkbound buttons (I've followed caseyandthebear on Instagram forever, and I finally ordered!) to surprise R with right before we leave. I think he's finally getting excited because he actually brought up our countdown number last night! Usually I'm the one being like "GUESS HOW MANY DAYS! GUESS GUESS GUESS!" Anyway, 20 days and we'll be in our happy place! :inlove:

In 24 hours, we'll be on the road!! :D I've got a wedding to shoot today, then I want to try to get everything ready to just grab and go in the morning. I know that won't happen....but it's the plan anyway. Luckily it takes me at least an hour or two after a wedding to babysit my computer while all the files backup, so I have that time to pack. AHHHH I'm so excited!!! I'm also a little anxious about the traveling part, but I'm trying to push past that :hungover:

We're on the road! Had to drop this perfect little ball of fur off at the dog sitter's house. He took off sniffing around their yard and didn't even care we left

We'll be in Orlando 9/10ish tonight and then have an early Epcot morning. Hoping our room at BLT doesn't take too long to be ready tomorrow!

I realized this morning that I never added the TR link here! Here it is.

I also thought I'd pop in and update about my January trip with friends (instead of making a new pre-trip report). I was just messing around on the website when the AP discounts came out. I mainly wanted to see what our cost would be with the discount before we called to get it. While I was looking, I saw that there was availability at Coronado Springs. That's where we'd wanted to stay, but it hadn't shown any availability until now! So I quickly booked us a room there with the AP discount. It was a bit cheaper than the French Quarter room with discount, which was strange, but I'll take it!

We won't have a garden view now, but I don't really think the view matters in a moderate. It's not like you can sit on a balcony and look at a view...so it's whatever. I'm hoping that we get a nice location, but I don't really know what to ask for there. I'm just excited to stay somewhere new!

One question I have, if anyone see's this, does anyone drive to all the parks? I'm considering driving this trip, at least when we go in the mornings. One of my friends isn't a morning person, so I feel like avoiding the bus and the waiting might help. The only one I worry about is MK, since we have an early breakfast there. How long does it take to get from the TTC to MK?

We've driven to the parks on most of our trips. It is very convenient and we found it to be quicker than the buses. That said, the one we have the least experience with is MK. The last few trips we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and took the boat to MK. I remember that the TTC gets very busy at peak times so you will need to build in time for that.

Thanks! That makes me feel better about driving. When we go to MK, it'll be early, so we may chance it. We have a pre-opening breakfast ADR.

We are!!! It has rained soooooo much today, we've had to come back and change twice now, but we've still managed to have a good time :) definitely haven't had enough Epcot in my life yet!

I'm catching up on all my forum reading. I've been slacking! :)

We were soooo at Epcot 9/29 also! And it rained and rained sooo much and the rain was sooo cold! I'm glad y'all had a great trip and that you've already planned another! We wanted to do WDW again next year, but we are going to wait. Instead, me and hubs are doing an anniversary cruise in November '16, and our family is on another cruise Mar '17. We're addicted to Disney cruises now!
